  • ERHR - congrats! Maybe it's the infamous "whoosh"!

Weighed in at 136.0 today. I haven't been doing too much traditional exercise (just a lot of walking with the dog and yoga), but I suppose any calories burned help with scale movement. I'm going to try to focus on more strength training this week, since I should be more concerned with inches lost than scale movement at this point.
  • Where is everyone lately? I finally had a whoosh (I've been stalled a few weeks trying to lose the pound or so I gained over my 4th of July trip). I'm so close to the original goal I set for myself but I'm wondering if I want to lower it...what did you guys do/are you guys doing when you get to your orginal "goal"?
  • I go back and forth about whether or not I want to be over or under my original goal. On the one hand, I've never been 125 lbs in my adult life so I'm afraid it might be very difficult to get/maintain there. On the other hand, my research and observations into (my) body fat percentages have indicated to me that I might still have fat to lose when I get to 125 lbs. So I'm not really sure! I guess I'm just taking it one day at a time and see what happens and how I feel as I approach my goal.
  • The scale has registered a 5 lb loss in the last eleven days. The previous 5 lbs took EIGHTY-THREE DAYS. What the heck? I'm not celebrating this - I'm legitimately concerned something might be amiss. I did make two changes a couple weeks ago: I limited my previously prodigious peanut butter consumption to 0 or 1 tbsps per day and I generally have stopped eating after dinner/8 PM-ish. Could those two small changes have resulted in this huge difference in the scale?? Otherwise I feel like I'm cheating my way to this low weight or something, like losing muscle or something. Thoughts?
  • Hey all. I'm feeling a bit down. I reached my goal last week, but I'm not really happy. I think I should go for 5-10 more lbs, but my family and friends are starting to feel concerned. I just don't think I'll ever be done.
  • 139.0 this morning .. time to get back down in the 120s...I know that most of this is water weight but ...i dont like seeing it.

Hmmmm, it could be the TOM issue you posted about and your changing hormone levels. 5 lbs in 11 days is a lot but your body could also just be adjusting to your otherwise good habits. What are your calorie/exercise levels at?

First of all, I'm sorry you are feeling down. I think reaching goal is anti-climatic sometimes...you've been working at this for a while and have had great success but I think there is usually a feeling of "now what?" once you get where you set out to go.

What are you unhappy about with your body? I ask because we are a similar height and weight and I'm mostly happy with the way I look but I could still use some toning. Would more toning help? Why is your family concerned?
  • girlinwaterglobe: I understand the frustration of realizing that being happy with your body may always be a moving target. But please do not forget how much you have already accomplished! An almost eighty-pound loss is PHENOMENAL!! Can you talk with a doctor or nutritionist about whether or not you need to lose more? That would be a more unbiased opinion than your family member who are accustomed to seeing you larger. I think when I get to my stated weight goal I might switch to another type of goal, like body fat% or completing a long-term fitness goal. Maybe you could stay on track but get your mind off your weight by doing something like that?

JLNichols07: I've been following your comments on your struggles for the last few weeks with binging. Maybe it's time to see a counselor instead of fighting all by yourself? Do you know if you have access to one?

asweetchicagogirl1: I thought about whether my missing TOM could have something to do with this weird quick loss... But don't people normally see a gain leading up to TOM? (My scale hasn't registered any difference above the noise in the past.) The loss started before TOM was due but maybe they do have the same cause?? I'm back on my active pills as of yesterday so maybe this will all sort itself out in the next few days.

I hadn't made any changes in my diet or exercise other than reducing the peanut butter. I was cheating with it so I wasn't properly recording how much of it I was eating, so I'm sure I am taking in fewer calories and grams of sugar but I don't know by how much. I've been hitting 1300-1400 calories/day recently but maybe I will try to increase that a little. My workouts had dropped to about 1-2 times per week, but since I noticed this loss I'm trying to work out more to hopefully stave off muscle loss, if that's what's happening.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

Well, I always lose weight before TOM when I take a break for a week from my pills....I might just be weird that way. If your workouts have dropped it might be a combination of muscle loss and the fact that you likely aren't retaining water like you would after a workout. I know I've been pretty busy with work lately and haven't had an opporunity to workout this week and I feel thinner (even though I weigh the same) because I'm not retaining as much water.
  • I guess I am finally in here as I have been in the 130's for about 2 weeks now I am excited to be in the 130's but can't wait for the 120's! I am taking it day by day!!
  • I am currently at 137.5 & hoping to not be in the 130s very long! My lowest adult weight (I was 20) has been 127lbs. Although my goal is 125, if I could even drop these 10 lbs and get to 127 again I will be ecstatic! I have been here since 6-21-11 & started @ 145... so that is 7.5lbs in 36 days. I don't know if that is good or not, but I feel alright about it.
  • Just wanted to BUMP this thread up .. haven't seen anyone on it in awhile! This morning I was 135.2 --- Can't wait until I get back in the 120s!
  • I'm 126 at the moment. I really can't wait to be 120. :P It's a while off yet, but I hope that by the time I get there then I'll have hopefully moved down a clothes size and people might notice! (I'm all about the compliments. Hehe. :P)
  • 135.4 today! FINALLY some downward movement after hovering in the 136 range for weeks (didn't help that we ate tons of glorious food in NYC for a week).
