So ladies, I'm curious about ur diet cocktails. I know many of you probably don't drink at all while dieting. But every now and then I like to have a few adult beverages.
So what's the best 'diet friendly' cocktail? Tonight I had a few Bacardi and soda-waters instead if my usual Bacardi and cokes. It was okay, but not great. Any suggestions? Thanks!
I do bacardi and diet coke or coke zero...or just vodka with plain soda water. But I include the calories in my day and try to limit myself to no more than 5 standard shots (at bars, usually each drink is a double, so that's no more than 2 drinks at a bar)
Agree with rainbowstripe! I usually do rum & diet coke or 1 glass of red wine. The latter may not be as low-calorie, but at least it has health benefits.
Most weeks I don't drink anything, but if I am going out or at a party, I always limit myself to 2 drinks per evening. At first it sucked having to be so careful with alcohol, but I feel so much more healthful and my exercise is much more on-point when I have had little or nothing to drink.
In the balance between alcohol content, price, and calories, I find that the best bet is a tasty, high-alcohol content mixed drink. I pick a non-fruity drink where the taste of the alcohol isn't masked -- because that way I will drink it more slowly. My favorites are mojitos and gin & (diet) tonic, but I'm sure other drinks fit the low-sugar profile too.
I am genetically gifted/cursed with an absurdly low tolerance, so one drink is all I need for a night -- about 150-200 calories of damage, which I can hopefully burn off by dancing it up. As long as I don't fall into alcohol-inspired pizza munchies, going out doesn't really affect staying on plan.

Gah, WHY did you have to mention mojitos! Now I'm battling a crazy craving for this absolutely delicious ginger mint mojito that my husband got me hooked on at one of our favorite restaurants LOL. And i'm normally a diet soda or water person no matter what the occasion, that's the ONE drink I'll gladly order anytime we go there!
I usually never think about diet alcoholic drinks. I don't really drink all that often, but when I do, I've always just viewed it as a "treat night."
There's some really low calorie beers if you're a fan of beer. They're not any great table beers, but I've tasted a few of them, and they're not so entirely bad. Budweiser 55 I think is the lowest calorie beer. Only 55 calories, and surprisingly, it doesn't taste too much like bathwater.
I just go straight for the Bourbon. More bang for your calorie buck.
I just try to be very moderate with my drinking. I am horrified by artificial sweeteners and I don't drink diet soda, so that kind of kills the vodka or rum/diet option (this also stems from the fact my grandmother was allergic to artificial sweeteners and they don't make me feel all to well either). So when I go out I try to have a good time while drinking water or having one drink that I really want, either a good beer or mixed drink. I love Guinness for beer and Malibu/Cranberry for mixed. I find this works for me because I don't usually have the goal of getting drunk and it lets me feel fulfilled. It doesn't satisfy me to drink something I don't like or don't want.
Dry wine has a pretty good calorie to alcohol ratio (i.e. only a few carbs per glass) and is classy and fun to sip on so I drink that mostly unless I find myself in a situation where it's just better or cheaper to drink beer...
I really like diet and malibu, not sure the calories, but when I looked online it had said diet soda mixed drinks are usually an okay choice. I also like cranberry and vodka, but I saw an option to avoid all the sugar and order a club soda with vodka and a splash of cranberry juice.
