Unhappy I want *me* back...

So, I posted a thread a while back about how moody I felt I had become. I thought things were improving, but now I'm apparently being "short" with people and *****y when I don't realize I am. And then when I think about it... I'm not myself. Some days, I feel like a totally different person. A part of my "good" personality is lost somewhere.

But I'm healthier, thinner and happier with my body. I just don't care for what's been happening on the inside lately.

I want to be thin and be the same person I was before. Why can't I seem to get it both ways?

Do you feel like this is somehow related to your weightloss? Could it be other reasons, like a hormonal imbalance or something?

OMG THIS IS ME!!!!

I've only been on my journey a few weeks, so I'm not sure it's related, but lately, I don't know if it's the change in diet or what, but I feel like I'm on permanent PMS... I'm so short and snappy, and people annoy me just by existing, particularly my grandmother. Everything she does irritates me.

I'm thinking about taking vitamin B supplements. My gyno prescribed them to me ages ago for mood levelers.

It sucks when you're trying to get healthy physically, and you end up sabotaging your mental health. A big thing for me the past few weeks has been to learn how to be healthy emotionally and mentally too. I'm taking it one day at a time, and my counselor recommended St Johns Wort for my mood problems, but my probs are mostly depression/codependence issues. She recommended 2 pills with food at breakfast and 2 at night with dinner. I've been on them since Thursday and still don't feel like a whole person yet, but I guess these things take time.

When you said you don't feel like yourself, is it because you feel crabby? Or you're just not who/where you want to be?

I've dealt with this issue on and off for quite a while. Have you thought about starting a mood journal along with your food/ exercise journal? It doesn't have to be a lot of work, but maybe it would help you see where it's coming from. It can be really short, just track the amount of hours you slept, your mood at intervals throughout the day, whether you're PMSing or not, what kind of vitamins/ medicine you took, and any other thing that you might be affecting your mood. After a couple of weeks or so compare it to your food and exercise journal and see if you can find any connections.

I've heard that weight loss and exercise have an effect on your hormones, so it could just be our bodies adjusting to our new size, so it should level out with time.

Or it could just be that you're stressed and you need some personal chill time. If that's the case.... spa day, anyone?

I have also experienced some mood changes since I started changing my eating habits. I thought that it was because I was missing all of my previous comfort foods (or atleast the mass amount of my previous comfort foods). I was reading recently that fat loss can be accompanied by a lot of side effects, including mood changes, headaches, and changing sleep patterns. So theoretically when you move into maintenance, things should balance out.

I think keeping some sort of mood journal is a great idea. You could also consider tracking your protein and carbs, if you don't already do that, to see if there is some connection.
