New Here

  • Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and thought I'd introduce myself here instead of the introduction board because I'll be posting here most I think . I just moved to a new city (DC!) for an internship. I've been gaining and losing the same 20 pounds for about a year now. So I decided to start fresh! The problem I'm having is getting motivated to diet. So I'm hoping that I'll get inspired by you ladies and your motivation!

    I am hoping to lose at least 15 pounds my cousins wedding in mid-September. It's about 10 weeks away. I feel this is doable if I'm committed, what do you guys think? Also, I'm trying to make new friends here but all anyone wants to do is go out to eat. DC doesn't have a lot of chain restaurants and most places don't post their menus online. How do I make healthy choices while eating out?

  • Welcome!! I'm doing South Beach. I read the book and it really taught me the healthy choices to make in any situation.

    When out to eat i typically get a salad with a vinegar based dressing for either my meal or as a side. If I just get a side salad, I will get a lean cut of steak or grilled chicken breast with steamed veggies.

    Stay away from the "white" items. White potatoes, white bread, cream sauces, white pasta, flour tortillas etc. Thats an eating philosophy that you should follow through your life not just while dieting.
