Great read! Makes one think, especially as wedding season approaches. That open bar can sneak up on even the most focused fat chick!

I have no idea if the science is wrong or right in this article but by personal experience drinking totally sabotages my weight loss! Mostly because after even one drink I lose all the inhibitions i might have had before about eating junk and those nachos start to look pretty good (as does the 2nd pint). Oops!

I think that's a fair point, regardless of the science. You just lose inhibitions when you drink.

I think it's a case by case thing. I also have to add that when I drink, I usually drink vodka mixed with juice, red bull or even sugar calorie drink mixes. So it's probably way less calories than the typical mixed drinks.

Yeah, I was about to say basically the same thing. Everyone's body is different and adjusts likewise. I usually have weight gain after drinking because of bloating, but it usually goes away after I have a couple of days of drinking plenty of water. But yeah, I think keeping everything in moderation is the way to go.

I am a student in New Zealand and if you know anything about New Zealand drinking culture you will know there is a lot of binge drinking. I could be out drinking to the point of getting drunk 3-4 times a week. Now I'm doing it once a week, if that sometimes, and maybe twice if there is a special occasion. And being on WW where one standard drink is 1 point I just make sure I eat less during the day or work out more. And I've lost 12.2kg or 26lbs in 13 weeks..

I guess everyone is different.

Good read though.
