Topless bikini????

I was browsing through the bathing suits at VictoriasSecret.com and I came across the "topless bikini". This is honestly one of the most bizarre, and slightly hilarious things I've ever come across.

Who buys a bathing suit like this? And, more importantly, where? I guess, a nude beach, but then, why not just go all the way?

I'm not sure my sensibilities are offended or if I admire the chaputz of anyone who'd wear a bathing suite like this.

chickapea 03-10-2010 08:53 PM

ROFL! That's hilarious! I wouldn't have believed it unless I had clicked on the link.

Even if I had that model's body, I wouldn't have the guts to wear that thing. I'd always be looking down wondering if my boobs looked funny.

garstar 03-10-2010 08:54 PM

hahahahahaha! My sister works there, I'm going to make fun of her for this simply because I can :)

chickybird 03-10-2010 08:55 PM

the first image that came to mind was that scene in "Borat" where he wears that terrible speedo...
Did you notice it was 68 bucks? You'd get more fabric from a hair scrunchie.

Brittany1988 03-10-2010 08:59 PM

Wait........what? hahaha. I don't care how skinny I get, I couldn't wear that. I think it would almost be better to just be naked. lmao

shelbell 03-10-2010 09:12 PM

I saw that and thought it must have been in style, and was scared! Glad to see it's not, haha!

mescelestus 03-10-2010 09:13 PM

I wouldn't want that model's body...and the suit is just silly!

SpinQueen 03-10-2010 09:14 PM

lmao 1st of all ... that poor model has ZERO boobs to begin with. Why not at least have a model with some kinda boobs, model for a 'topless' bikini lol stupid on their part.

2nd ... I would say this is more for peeps who go to nude beaches. And if that's the case, why wear anything at all?? lol :dunno:

edited to give chicka a slice of pizza! lol - looks like she needs it :jeno: :jeno: :jeno: :jeno:

gatorgirl6 03-10-2010 09:22 PM

Imagine the tan line. Not a good idea.

shortandfluffy 03-10-2010 09:43 PM

Haha... I don't get it either. If you go to a nude beach and don't want to show it "all" just wear bottoms!

My DH would say that the model in the ad needs to eat a sandwich.. haha. He likes girls with curves.. good thing for me. LOL

Maybe their thought was 'topless' bikini = 'topless' model lol. But then most runway models would fall into the 'topless' category.

astrophe 03-10-2010 09:49 PM

What weird tan lines...

I agree -- nude beach just go nekkid or wear the bottoms.

But for me, I stick to racerback Speedos for laps in the pool. I'm not much of a sunbather.

A.

utgirl09 03-10-2010 09:50 PM

Lol. That is funny. It does come with a bandeau top too as a second piece though, so if worn that way it is no different than a bikini.

stellart 03-10-2010 09:57 PM

my first thought was....

isn't that just some sort of marketing strategy to sell bikini bottoms as something "new"

but then after i clicked on it, i realized i guess it's just some sort of new style of revamping the old school bottoms.

Gracie789 03-10-2010 10:17 PM

wow, that's ummmmm, different. the suit with the bandeau top is kinda cute although I wonder what the back looks like, the description said the back was minimal so it's probably a thong. Without the top the tan lines would be really weird.

Silverstar33 03-10-2010 10:41 PM

LMFAO!!! Hilarious!

Morgan03 03-10-2010 10:44 PM

While not necessarily useful in the U.S., there are plenty of topless beaches in popular tourist destinations. You can't go totally nude--they basically just allow women the same right to go topless as men have at beaches.

stellarosa27 03-10-2010 11:14 PM

Maybe b/c you wouldn't want sunburn in your nether regions?

:) I'd never go there...If I was going to a nude beach, I'd just wear bottoms. I mean...really...

KathyWathy 03-10-2010 11:20 PM

That's the most ridiculous suit I've ever seen. I wonder how many people have actually bought that?

diornotwar 03-10-2010 11:37 PM

that was just weird looking. horrible tan lines & minimal back coverage? i'll pass!

LuckyJules 03-10-2010 11:47 PM

That thing is hideous, however, I do think that VS has some super cute suits!

rosekeet 03-11-2010 12:54 AM

Most Victoria's Secret suits are VERY cute. And I love that you can buy the tops in bra sizes not just "S M L XL." I guess the only real applicable place for this suit would be a topless beach... So, if anyone feels like baring almost all on their next Euro vacation...?

And the suit with the bandau top isn't bad, but they have lots of other "monokinis" that are similar without removable boob coverage. Maybe so you can transition from normal beach to topless beach with ease?

Morgan03 03-11-2010 01:26 AM

Also, Victoria's Secret makes the bulk of their money selling clothing items that are, ah, for private viewing only ;) I doubt I'd ever have the guts to go to a topless beach even if I was in France or Canada, but if I had a boyfriend with a pool or hot tub I might consider something like that.

And Google search tells me there are actually small topless beach areas in San Diego and South Beach. So, technically one wouldn't even have to vacation out of country.

DivineFidelity 03-11-2010 01:34 AM

I would imagine that suit would just be uncomfortable...but maybe that's just me. i mean....that string...I can only imagine it would feel weird to have that between your boobs. lol.

That's just ridiculous. If I was going to a topless beach, I'd just wear bottoms.

>.<

 Too funny.

I wouldn't have believed this either if I hadn't clicked the link. What an odd "swimsuit".

mrsmoore 03-11-2010 11:02 AM

For some reason I really like it with the bandeau top. Of course I wouldn't wear it unless, like someone else mentioned, I was hanging out in a hot tub with my husband.

diary 03-11-2010 11:10 AM

Oh darn! I don't have the hair to buy that suit! I would need it to get covered up all the way!

bama girl 03-11-2010 11:14 AM

hahaha! Amazingly, a lot of the stuff online is definitely not what we sell in stores. If a customer came in and asked for that, I would have looked at them like they were insane.

JulieJ08 03-11-2010 11:53 AM

LOL, I don't think it looks great on any body. Something about that long skinny bit makes me think there's a front wedgie going on even if there isn't. Just a weird shape.

That's what I would do.

Topless beaches in Europe...I was in Sardinia ( an island off the coast of Italy) last summer and all small girls 0-7ish and probably 18 and above sunbathed topless.

Iconised Ghost 03-12-2010 03:01 PM

i reminds me of what Cora Corman wore in that concert in Music and Lyrics xD

MisplacedMyHailo 03-12-2010 03:24 PM

This cracks me up! As others have said, even with the "perfect" body, I wouldn't wear this without HEFTY payment! lol Talk about leaving nothing to the imagination...goodness!

duckyyellowfeet 03-12-2010 03:26 PM

Its not the revealing part that bothers me so much as I think its really ugly and would be pretty unflattering on most people. IMO, its not even that flattering on the (airbrushed) model.

Well, now there's a right of passage :o

Aclai4067 03-12-2010 04:45 PM

I just don't think the cut of it is very flattering. If I wanted to go topless I'd rather just wear traditional bikini bottoms. That said, I have been topless on a beach. Alexandria Beach in Noosa National Park (see avatar) is clothing optional. I was honestly MUCH more nervous about people seeing my belly than my boobs. Then my roommate snapped at me to stop being so American

Pinkberrry 03-13-2010 12:22 PM

Ew...I wouldnt feel comfortable wearing that ever..I think the line between your boobs would feel weird.

Yeah. If I was going to go to a nude beach, I'd go topless and just wear normal bikini bottoms. I wouldn't wear the weird "boob thong".
