In previous years, I've only watched Winter Olympics for the figure skating. For some reason, though, this time I'm into all of it! It's pretty motivating to hop on my exercise bike and plug away while watching it all unfold.

Lindsey Vonn, who just won a gold, is 5'10" and 160!

Lindsey Vonn was in the SI swimsuit issue - and she looked AMAZING! (but cold - they had her in a bikini at the top of the mountain - BRRRR)

Did you see the ice dancing pair that won the silver at the 2006 winter olympics? For this time around they got a new coach, and one of the first things they did was have the female gain ten pounds.....guess who took gold this year?

Yeah, I thought that was a great article about Tanith Belbin. She talked a lot about how gaining those 10 pounds and eating more/healthier has made a HUGE difference in her skating. She actually has energy now for her workouts. The thing that surprised me (although after thinking about it, it really shouldn't have) was how happy her partner Ben Agosto was about it: now that she has more strength and muscle, she can support herself in the lifts better which apparently makes his job tons easier.

I love the Olympics. The Winter Olympics are especially great because some of these sports literally take everything you have and then some. I was amazed by how the biathlon and cross country skiers straight up collapse after a race. These are amazingly fit people who train like fiends and they just collapse into jello. Super impressive!

I think it was for this past Summer Olympics but I remember some magazine ran a photo spread of all the different body types of different female Olympic athletes. It showed how different a shotputter looked from a gymnast, for example, and what the heights and weights of the two were. Does anyone know what I'm talking about/have it still? I'm having trouble finding it, but it was such a great article and the pictures were awesome.

Another skier on the US team, Cookie, is like 5'4" and 154--I would not like to run into her on the slopes...she must be built like a brick wall. Mancuso had a better run than Vonn technically but at 5'7" and 148 or so she'd have to put lead weights in her boots to go as fast--Vonn's speed is unbelievable.
