struggling with the scale!

  • Hey everyone!

    I really want to just weight in once a week so I am not stressed by the ups and downs and just see the end result but I can't! I am so addicted to doing it everyday. So you think its unhealthy? Does anyone else have this problem? Sometimes I get discouraged because I see it jump up
  • your not addicted or at least I hope your not because I do the same exact thing lol. I weigh myself about 5 times a week but only first thing in the morning. As long as you don't weigh yourself multiple times a day then I don't think its a problem but if the number on the scale ruins your day then you should try to limit weighing yourself to once a week or maybe twice a week
  • NO your not addicted. I find that when I weigh myself daily I make better choices. If Im up then I work out harder or eat cleaner. If I down then I do the same but if I cheat I dont beat myself up as bad...haha!! I weigh daily only in after I wake up and go to the bathroom. The only weight I do count is my Wednesday weigh ins. I have a thing on my phone and its set for Wednesday weigh ins so I've been going by that. Its also good to check daily to see why u fluctuate. I can determine when Im going to go up due to how much sodium I had the day before. And also to get a feel for how much ur weight fluctuates during TOM!!! Pick a time frame and a day and stick with that!! Good luck
  • If you think its a problem, it is. If you're obsessing about those numbers or use a higher number as negative thought, then yes, its an issue.

    Can you put the scale away, maybe in some place that makes it harder to access? Pull it out on your weigh in times and put it back when you're done.
  • I weigh myself once a day but only right after I wake up. And then that is it for the day. It helps me to stay on track for the day.
  • I agree, I weigh myself once in the morning to help me make better choices throughout the day. If you weigh yourself several times a day, that's not a good thing.
  • No I only weigh myself once a day before eating..and I think it does help me when I see I have gone up to adjust. I guess I am just fustrated it takes so long to go down! lol Thanks for all the advice
  • I don't think you're addicted either. Weighing every day helps me a lot by keeping me motivated if i see a good number or trying extra hard if the numer isn't so great.
  • I usually weigh myself everyday. I've been trying this last week or so to not focus to much on the scale though because I've noticed for myself that I can dwell to much on that number and if I see I went down for a few days in a row and then all of a sudden go up slightly it really bums me out. Anyway...I'd agree with everyone else that if you dwell or obess about the number or let it get you down then it's probably a problem. but it's probably a good way to keep track of our your doing in regards to eating habits..
