Question Calorie Counters?

Just curious to see who on the 20 something thread count calories. If you could your calories what is your limit? How has it been working for you and have you had to adjust them.

If you arent counting calories feel free to post the eating plan you are doing if you'd like.

I count and I aim for 1500 per day. Ive been doing pretty good for the past two weeks. I use thedailyplate to track but for the most part I eat the same things so I havent been using it much lately.

I count calories I aim for 1200-1800 a day. For the past 2 days Ive been doing horrible. I tend to be better with counting calories during the weekday and weekends I slack off a little. im still working on improving that but its not something I can change over night so Im slowly trying to get focused and stay focused during the weekends.

I used to count but it's annoying/ hard when you have someone else cooking for you and you can't really know what exactly is the food made of.

So I'm using portion control + common sense (aka. drink 3 litres of water, avoid deep fried foods and fritters, eat alot of fruits and veggies, and gravy is probably not a good idea, etc). It's far more sustainable for me and I'm in this for the long haul.

I count calories and aim for 1500/day and usually fall between 1200 and 1800 on bad days. So overall, I feel I am doing great. I have never had a plateau yet that lasts more than 4 days, but I am also exercising a minimum of 4 up to 6 days a week (a mix of cardio and weights).
I have been averaging 2 lbs a week.
I started taking a multi-V and fish oil to make sure that I am getting everything that I need in my diet without also having to worry about tracking food types (one thing at a time please, maybe that will come later).

And that is me in a nutshell (help, help, I'm in a nutshell)

Hmmm... I don't know if I would call myself a "calorie counter", but I do make myself aware of the caloric values of the things I'm eating and am certainly a label-reader. I have logged my intake into TDP to get a general idea of how much I typically consume for curiosity's sake. I know when a big meal will throw me over that threshold and when I'm likely barely breaking 1000, but by no means do I know exactly how many calories I consume on a given day.

i should be eating 1300-1600 calories a week. but i try my best to not go over 1300. that way if i do wind up eating a snack at night i have some calories left and i won't go over the limit.

i use to be resistant to counting calories before. i use to think if i just stay away from carbs and bad fats i would be OK and lose weight. but for the past 3 days i found myself counting calories and my body already feels better. i didn't realize how many calories i was consuming until i actually sat down and did the math.

i'm much more mindful of what i eat now.

i won't know the result of my weight loss until i have my weigh in on Thursdays.

Thats exactly how I feel. Before counting calories I never knew how much I was eating. Looking back I must of been eating well over 2000 cals a day. Now that I count calories I truly realize that Ive been satisfied eating 1500-1700 per day. That in itself has been awesome to me

I've been counting calories since 2003 and I've maintained 100% off my weight loss. I aim for 1600 - 1900 calories per day.

I count calories as well, but I can remember back to when (I am dating myself here) that foods didn't come with a nutrition label on them. Does anyone else remember these times, or am I making this up in my head? I swear I can think back to even my early teens, and eating bags of doritos that did not have nutrition labels.

I try to hit 1500 as my highest days, and 1300 on days when I don't exercise. My boyfriend has been telling me it is paying off, lol. But then again he says stuff that kinda hurts my feelings. I chalk it up to him being a man (love them but every so often they don't filter) and a physician (they have to be brutally honest at times). About a week ago, I was complaining about a part of my body (probably something like "My boobs look horrible") and he says "No, they're fine. If I could change anything about you, it wouldn't be your boobs." at this point, I decide to press for what he would change...big mistake....he says "You could lose some weight off the backs of your thighs, or your double chin." OUUUCCCHHHHH.

Wait, he's a doctor, and you are 5'6" and 125 lbs and he thinks you need to lose weight? I'd kick his a** if I were you.

I'm thinking the same thing...

But I count calories, I eat between 1100-1200 a day. It works really well for me, I'm barely ever hungry

I don't strictly count calories anymore. I used to be a religious calorie counter and would keep my intake to around 1300 - 1400 a day, which worked for a time and then I plateaued. I upped the intake a little and the weight started shifting again (to around 1500 - 1600).

These days I'm mindful of calories and aware of whats in foods, I read the labels, I know when I am having a very light day as I know when I've had an average day.

If I were to put it all in calorieking I would probably be consuming 1800 - 2200 per day. I am losing on that amount as well. Not hugely fast or anything but I have lost about 4 - 5 pounds in as many weeks.

I dont know how, where or why but apparently my metabolism decided to kick back in when I stopped being strict/hard on myself. So now I eat whatever I want whenever I want - it usually works out to be healthy 95% of the time and in small portions over the course of the day, but if I want that cake at morning tea, then I'll have that cake at morning tea

Before this week, my plan has been around 1200 calories/day. I hit a small plateau, so I'm trying to shift things around a little. Starting today, I'm trying to add some more protein (hard for me as a vegetarian) and add some calories. My new daily goal is 1400-1500. I exercise every day, so I think this new goal is going to work well - as long as the calories I add are "good" calories.

On top of counting calories, I also try to eat as much natural, unprocessed food as possible, check labels, eat only whole grains, and try to get most of my calories from veggies, nuts, fruits, and whole grains and oats.

I've been counting calories almost my whole weight loss time. I started out eating between 1200 and 1500, now I have to keep between 1200 and 1350ish or I will plateau or gain
