(Maybe that was TMI but others might have experienced similar problems). However, I just bought a Nike Ipod shoe thing (I can't remember what they are called) it's acting funny but I'm going to try and get it working and try again. I was thinking about downloading the podcast for it ... anyone have any experiences with that? (I've hijacked my roommates touch to use at the gym).

I don't know about the nike ipod shoes, but I use nicole blum's podcasts for c25k. I used to do the coolrunnings ones, but I'm not a techno girl ( I much need words to go along with songs :) ) I started running at about 220 lbs, when I was heavier than that it hurt in my joints. Now I find it's all about finding a steady pace that I can keep pushing through. I'm definitely not fast, but my endurance and speed are both slowly building.

Good to know about the podcast. I'm going to look more into them, I'm not a huge techno fan but I can probable find others. The touch is nice because you don't need to use the sensor at all because it has the radio feature built in.

What speeds to you all run at (if you are treadmill runners)

Went to the gym this morning eventhough I really didn't want to. I was sore (espically my back) but knew that once I'd get there I would "man up" and work out strong. What always happens for me. I had a good workout but I'm already sore and it's only been an hour since I got back. It's going to be a long day. I'm trying to do weights and core exercises in addition to my normal cardio to rebuild my ab muscles since they became super weak after the TT. Well I'm off to work pool side and maybe take a dip into the hot tub to relax my muscles.

April - the thing with subway is it's all about the choices, they have some really great options but also some really bad ones (chicken bacon ranch my former fav). I find the best thing is to avoid the dressing and opt for mustard or vinager it's a huge calorie saver.

I have blisters on my hands from the row machine, one burst and is now slightly infected and sore :( I know, I know, get the savlon out and suck it up :dizzy:

For me, I always forget how caloric bread is. I mean, that's most of the calories from my sub! I get the turkey on italian herb and cheese. That bread is ~50kcal more than the plain wheat, which is ~200. I add on provolone too cuz it's a good way for me to get in dairy. And fat free honey mustard (30kcal).

In the past I'd always just get a Subway meal with sub, baked chips, and milk, thinking I'm doing good cuz it's Subway and I didn't get bacon or mayo, etc, and didn't really think about it. Well, today I added it up and it was 870kcal for my entire meal!! My limit is 1250kcal for the whole day!!

Hi everyone... I've been really busy and have been eating terribly. Been trying to get back on track this week... and I'm so far right on track. :)

smisen 10-21-2009 04:56 PM

Smile - I am slow as heck running. I'm just now getting to the point where I can do 30 minutes continuously at 4 mph. But I'm planning to repeat the C25K program, focusing on getting my speed up. We'll see - I imagine losing weight will help me get moving faster. Right now, I feel like a fricking antelope at the gym in the morning...

I just started C25K last week because I saw so many of you doing it. I like it so far, it gives me some goals to change up my workout a little bit. I've always hated to run all my life until I started to try and run this summer. I've slowly been able to do more and more so it feels pretty good :) Last week I mixed my own music but this week I used one of the podcasts because I was too busy studying for my midterm :p

When I run on the treadmill, I usually aim for around 4.6 mph. I can usually do about 15-20 minutes at that speed.

Hi girls

I am still here! School, rehearsal and moving are taking up MOST of not ALL of my time.

Just wanted to let you girls know I am still doing alright - holding my own. Most the working out is walking the dog for 1 hour plus - which is better than nothing.

I am posting my meal plans in that thread.

Love you all and I hope everyone is staying OP

Remember - Hi honey. Glad to see you back!

Stella - Um, I hate moving. You too?

Hi

Hi everyone,

this is such a great thread. I just joined this site a day or two ago and have been looking through many threads.

I have a questions for your guys. What do you think about protein shakes after a workout?/ Good thing or bad?? and if you drink a protein shake after a workout then is that considered a mean, because it is about 300 calories? or do you guys still eat a little something??

I use the jay robbs vanilla protein shake. I throw in like a 3 inch long slice of a banana and a 6-8 almonds. I make it in water. I love it and I read a lot that they are good after work outs. But my thing is that, since it is just liquid I get hungry very quickly after that. So I end up making a sandwich. Which exceeds the calories for a meal.

I started my diet about 2 weeks ago but i just started working out on monday. But guess what--- my bf visited me today and we went movies lunch shopping etc. So forget the 5 meals--- i ate out and 1 meal -- bummer. I kept it small but it was pasta --- unhealthy!! And then I thought o well since I am being bad I might as well get dessert --- I got a RED VELVET CHEESECAKE!!!! it said it has like 1600 calories in 1 slice. OMG. No i didnt eat it all but I think I ate half of it between lunch and now :(

Ok No more crappy food business from tomorrow.

Good luck with all your goals and weight loss. :)

Iconised Ghost 10-22-2009 04:57 AM

I'm a bit dubious about it. You can get protein and feel fuller by having a chicken breast and an egg with salad or something afterwards, and for a lot less calories. Personally, I wouldnt want to spend 300 cal on a drink, even if it is protein ladden. Maybe you can find one that is less calories? I think you have to be careful with the amount of sugar in them too, but im not sure. After work outs I usually have fruit or a low fat yoghurt :) Just think, if you didnt spend 300 cal on the shake, and had a 60 cal piece of fruit instead, you can have low fat ice cream etc for dessert and not be over your cals :dizzy:

I'm not really sure what got into me last night, but it wasn't good. I had one of the brownies... but instead of cutting it in half (my mom cut them into 12 sections vs. 20 like it called for) I ate the whole thing. Which was okay... except that after dinner I had ANOTHER brownie (again, didn't cut it in half) and then decided to have a hand full of peanuts. THEN later on I had a bowl of cheerios... but I measured those out, like it was going to matter.

I'm a little worried about this weekend as I'm going to the mountains with my brother and his gf to visit her friends. They said we'll be eating out Friday and Saturday night. Allie fixes breakfast in the morning so I'll probably just have some eggs. I'm going to take my cheerios for snacking/dessert and hope that I can make good choices for the rest of the weekend. The good news is that we're planning on a big hike Saturday and probably a shorter hike on Sunday as we'll be heading back home that afternoon.

Today *WILL* be a better day. I will NOT spiral out of control because of one afternoon of bad choices!

platformnine 10-22-2009 09:33 AM

Feral - the hiking should help a lot!

I bought a size 12 skirt yesterday :3 It's actually a little big on me :D I should have gone down to a size 10.. Hopefully when I reach goal I won't have to alter it too much - it does have adjustable straps. (note: I'm still a pretty solid size 14 in pants, for most stores - still 16 at some >:|, this is skirt is a magical skirt lol)

My goal for today (aside from the mountain of classwork I have to do) is to get in a really good workout. Monday and Tuesday I walked 4 miles each day and did 30 minutes of cardio/strength workouts. Yesterday I only got a 2 mile walk in. I've been at 192.5 for 2 days now :< Now I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it to 189 this month, I'm just trying to get back down to 191 like I was on Sunday!!! :<

Have a good day ladies!!

Oh, and also, THE PHILLIES ARE GOING BACK TO THE WORLD SERIES!!!!! :D :D :D

Feral 10-22-2009 11:35 AM

Mary - Love the new avatar! Also... magical skirt. That made me giggle!

I am super stoked about my mountain trip. I didn't even think about the fact that the leaves will be starting to turn. I live farther east in the state (NC) so it's closer to the beach for me than it is the mountains. I rarely go to the mountains. Also, we're going Table Rock which is said to have a natural vortex on it. I want to go to Sedona SOOOO bad for this very reason.

Anyone else in this thread familiar with Reiki/energy work?
