[/B]Saint - Congrats on the logging! I have found that when I am religious about this that i do much better because I don't actually cheat and I can see what I am and am not eating. Don't beat yourself up about what you ate as you have already eaten it... just remember that THIS week you don't want the same feeling as you had last week which is feeling like you did it all for nothing.

Stella - hooray for nice people at gas stations. Thanks for reminding me I'm over due for an oil change.

Mary - CONGRATS on your paper getting an A! All of that hard work paid off!

Taylor- As far as your mind set goes have you thought about doing affirmations like Forest suggested? I know it sounds hokey but you would really be surprised how much it works because you ARE internalizing it and changing your thought patterns. The other thing would be to see a therapist and to get to the root of why you are doing this to yourself. Again, sounds hokey or extreme but the subconscience is a very powerful thing. If you can give up smoking and diet cokes you can do this!!!!

I'm leaving work at 3:00 today (30 min early) to go see my advisor for school so I can do early registration and actually GET the classes I need Spring semester and not having to take a semester off! GRRRR!!! My advisor is mega c**t! Wish me luck!

Today'll be my first workout with my new dumbbells. I'm excited. Eating is going pretty well. I find it's best if I plot out what I'll be eating, how many calories and whatnot, first thing in the morning. I go back to working Wednesday morning, though. XD I need to seriously invest in food to make lunches from. The girl I work for is really sweet and makes sure I have food available for two meals (I watch her son) but they tend to be meals made in bulk. Which leaves me of no idea how many calories are in the meals AND no idea how many servings it should be.

Remember - WELCOME BACK!!!!!! Glad to see you pop back in here!!! I'll def go seek out the other thread to see how you're doing. Thanks for the encouragement and the reminder about putting in as much exercise as you do eating right. Now I want your and Taylor's recipes for stuffed peppers. Sounds YUMMY!

My treadmill is in my garage and I find that I do much better watching TV in the gym than I do music. Do you guys think its taking it a LITTTTTLE too far if I brought my laptop out to the garage with me and put in a movie or something? Seriously, I want feedback.

Stella- you have tire pressure lights?? :O Do all cars have those? I dont even know if my petrol light works! Yay for getting them filled up though :D

Taylor- I dont know :( Maybe you could look into some mindfulness meditation, if you're into that kind of thing?

Remember- welcome back! Also got to check out your other thread :dizzy: but its good to see you!

Anyway, im running late as usually so better run!

ChristineM 10-19-2009 03:33 PM

I don't think watching a movie is too much, if it keeps you occupied and it keeps your exercising longer than I think it's a great idea. I usually watch tv AND listen to music. It sounds stupid but the tv keeps my eyes busy and gives me something to look at and the music keeps me excited and going. Of course my BF thinks I'm crazy.

Feral 10-19-2009 03:41 PM

Lol thanks!

Icon - I think some newer cars have tire pressure lights. My friends gf has a newer suv and hers has one. Never heard of it til she mentioned it one day.

Taylor - trust me, if it sounds good, it tastes even better. But they're small pieces and in order for it to be a bearable dessert calorie-count wise then you have to cut it in half again, then it's like 190 calories. I kinda want an iPhone too, but I have verizon. And a blackberry lol.

Remember - Ooooh, the salsa sounds really good :D My stepdad made them with whole wheat rice and a lean ground turkey-beef mixture so they're lower in calories than a normal one would be. So good, I love them lol.

Feral - Thanks! I'm so proud of my paper lol. Good luck with your advisor! My old advisor was a real asshat >:[ I like my advisor now, though. Also, watching a movie while on the treadmill is definitely not too much lol!! I always do that :)

Icon - my car is just about a year old, I think the newer cars have the lights. The first time I saw it I was like WTF is that?!

Taylor - /hug I know this is kind of sadistic of me, but I keep thinner pictures of myself on hand, so when I feel like binging (for example, how I did on the ride to school b/c I was po'ed at the cable guy) I just think, no, if I binge, I'm further away from that. And I have to speak nicely to myself, internally. This is a big part of my exercise routine, just saying "Jen, you can do this - look how great you're doing, keep it up!" Seriously, that's my whole spin class. We have to love ourselves, from the inside out, and I find that if I'm "nice to myself" I can stick to things much easier. Except when I eat out of anger, as I just did, but we won't talk about that. And exercise just makes me feel better. My anxiety is so high right now (I HATE MOVING) and its killing me because they didn't give me a key to the gym and I haven't had time to go pick it up when the leasing office is open. I just try and anticipate stuff, and don't give myself a choice.

I just really hate moving. I blame my parents. My dad still lives in the house that they bought when I was 1. This whole picking up and transporting everything you own thing is just not okay with me.

I just left work early to wait for the cable guy. He was an hour late, so my ex roomie's gf waited for him, then he didn't show up for another hour, then when she went to get something from her apt, he came, left a note, and went to his next appt b/c "he couldn't wait or he'd be late." I called and was like you WILL be here at 8:30 am or I am cancelling service and telling them it is directly related to you not being there on time. So I should have cable/internet by 8:30 tomorrow morning.

PS - even though I complain a lot, I really am awesome. I promise...

Chele615 10-19-2009 06:20 PM

Christine - I am the same way....I totally watch tv and listen to music when at the gym. I love that certain tv's have the closed captioning running. I think reading the words while my upbeat music is going on in the background makes me zone out and push through my time. Maybe it's the fact that reading the captioning gives me something to do?

Today was a pretty good day. This weekend was kind of a bust because of being away with friends and huge cupcakes ;) LOL That, plus a hot chocolate from Dunks is ridiculously a lot of calories! haha Damn cold and snow! But I got right back on track today and hope that there wasn't too much residual damage from this past weekend. I was getting over TOM, so that definitely didn't help out with the cravings and incessant need for chocolate! haha

Feral - thanks for the beverage tips! And the meatloaf muffin recipe looks very yummy.

Don't have room in my current apartment, but I used to have my own elliptical. And I'd totally watch What Not to Wear while on that thing. Just kept thinking about the clothes I wanna buy. :) I definitely think watching a movie on your laptop is okay.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day today, perhaps the last warm one for the year. Sunny and a high of 64 today! I was on call all weekend at the hospital, so today I got to leave at 1pm. Ate a quick sandwich and set out with my dog for a walk. We went on our usual ~3 miles, but it was so beautiful out decided to just keep going along the trails of the lake until I got tired - didn't wear a watch, so it was just on how I felt. Well, I was shocked to discover when I got home that we walked for 3.5 hours!!! Felt great, but now I'm pooped!

Also feel the pain on the scale not cooperating on official weigh-in day. My official day currently is Friday. Of course, that was the highest weight I've had since last Monday. But I still counted it as my official weight. I used to do eDiets challenges a couple years ago, and would always feel very guilty if I fudged it at all. Plus, hopefully I'm setting myself up to be able to report a good loss now this week by using the actual number last week.

Most awesome website ever... (for today at least)

http://weight-watchers-points-recipes.blogspot.com/

I'm making turkey stuffed peppers. :) I'll update more after dinner! I'm off to watch dishes while they're in the oven!

Feral - That is a great website. I've cooked 5-6 things from there and love them all.

I also wanted to add that I made some great pumpkin muffins yesterday and they were great. I feel like I am getting to eat pumpkin pie without the guilt. They are super easy to make as well:

1 box of spice or carrot cake mix
1 15 oz. can of pumpkin.

You mix just those 2 ingredients and then put them in a muffin pan and bake them for 15-20 mins. Mine came out to about 117 calories a piece. I grab one of those and some milk and am in heaven.

platformnine 10-20-2009 12:33 AM

Mojo - Ooooh, that's next on my list of 'things to turn into a healthier snack' this month :D Thanks for the tips, I'll be making them on Friday!! :D :D :D
