I can't start out with a fabulous success story like others... I can't even tell you about how many pounds I've lost. I can't say that I spent everyday totally focused, dedicated, and striving toward my goal. Because..... well..... none of those things are really true.
But, what I can say is this. I have learned a lot about myself and my body. And here are a few things that I DID accomplish:
- I ran in a 5k!
- I learned what true portion sizes really are.
- I learned to estimate pretty closely the calorie content of foods.
- I changed to eating a 90% organic diet and make sure that I limit the amount of processed sugars, flours, and foods. I also stay away from HFCS!
- I take vitamins and supplements daily to help have a balanced diet.
- have found ways to incorporate exercise into my daily routine.... and I like it!
I went from 317 to 275 on my own. I joined 3FC at about 272 pounds. Today I weighed in at 272.8. I'm still in a 22/24 pants and a 2X/3X shirt.
No weight loss isn't all sunshine and rainbows. As a matter of a fact, it is the hardest thing that I have ever struggled with in my life. But, I'm here to say that every day has been WORTH IT! And the day that I reach my healthy weight and no longer have to worry about the health issues that plague me will be one of the happiest days of my life!
Here is to another year!
Hopefully, this year will bring me to my goal. But if not, I will never give up. This journey isn't a sprint to the finish. It is a marathon. I'm in it for the long run.
Someone fabulous once said,
"You can tell me that you CHOOSE to quit. That you CHOOSE to be LESS than what you ARE and LESS than what GOD INTENDED, but DON'T EVER TELL ME that you CAN'T do it."
