Yeah, many pear women become apple after menopause, because their ovaries stop producing so much estrogen, and it is estrogen that makes the fat accumulate under the skin on the thighs and hips for pears. Without this estrogen a lot more goes to the midsection, so many women start storing fat around their middles after menopause.
I'm not.. entirely sure what happens to apples after menopause though. I'm already REALLY apply, even at lower weights, so I wonder if it's possible to get even MORE apply or if I'd just stay the same... hm....

i've been apple for the longest time. my hips and shoulders are actually within a half inch of each other. it wasn't until recently that i started dropping weight that i actually developed a waist and was told by a lady at a store that I have the "perfect hourglass figure" how freakin happy was i!!! i still have a bit of a kegger to get rid of in my belly before i actually reach that, but still, who knew that was under there!
LOL it's amazing discovering what's under all this fat. i used to be an apple and now i'm figuring out what i am exactly...i'll see how it turns out in the end
Well I don't know what qualifies as small, but I would say I don't have bigger boobs than some. I've had girls tell me they are bigger. But trust me I'm no Dolly Parton
I'm a ruler. Straight up and down, with little definition. I have a waist, but its not all that pronounced, and my shoulders are wide, but I'm flat.
It's a strange build! When I buy jeans that fit my waist, they have all kinds of room in the butt. Dresses that fit my barrel of a ribcage (like a recent bridesmaid dress I had to purchase with a fitted empire waist) end up having to be ordered in MUCH larger sizes than what I actually am and taken in at the waist and usually the hip (Size 8 pants, size 14 dress where the only fitted spot is at the top of my ribs, where I have almost no fat anyway. Le sigh).
i am 34-30-42 so i am def a pear, small breasts and huge hips. hopefully when i lose some more weight and get my boobies i will look like a perfect hourglass... we shall see.

Is there a cross between a pear and an hourglass? The more I'm reading about people who are pear's, the less I think I am one. I have pretty huge boobs, small waist and HUGE hips. I am all confused now!
