Default I need a new scale...

I'm thinking about getting a new scale. Mine gets funky every now and then. Right now I am getting 173 every morning. And when I started back at this I was 180 so I know I'm dropping. When my husband steps on it, it gives him 3 different readings. He says I shouldn't trust it. I am not stepping on it infront of him to show him how it says the same thing for me twice. I also make sure it reads the same number a couple times, especially if it's one I haven't seen in awhile. LOL! He also thinks it should read the same number when he goes up after he's eaten dinner and drank 5 beers as it did when he wakes up. I almost feel like he's down playing my loss when I tell him I've lost another pound because "the scale is s#i!". I think he's maybe just standing on it differently every time. And I've actually caught him sliding it over a couple times so I told him you need to disreguard the first number every time it's moved and step on it again. He knows all though and the scale is crap.

I'm also very scared to get a new scale. What if it reads more than this one. I was scared of this very same thing when I bought this one and went from the old dial one to digital. It was the same though.

Would you get a new one or just stick it out with this one since it's showing a loss and believe in what it's telling you since the inches are going down too? If you were to get a new one what would it be? What do you have and do you love it, is it accurate, what does it measure besides weight if anything at all?

And my hubby is a very good guy for the most part. Loves me no matter what, tells me I'm beautiful all the time, notices my losses (when he SEES one), and tells me how hard I'm working all the time. It's just this one thing that he's getting on my nerves about. Well, this ONE thing when it comes to weight loss. LOL!

Oh I know that feeling... I've gone from scale to scale and they all seem to read differently from one another. One thing I have noticed though is to stay away from the cheap ones at Wal-Mart... They always give me a different reading no matter what I do.

So I'm sure you all know the doctor scales and the ones at you can find at most gyms. The one where you move the bigger bar and then the smaller bar to find an exact weight... Well my bf's mother has one. Talk about scary accurate. Right down to the 1/4 lb. And if you're worried your new scale will be more, jump on one of those. Ouch. It was not pretty. My scale was WAYYYY off... Almost 10 lbs. And not in a good way. But I've decided to stick to it because it's always accurate. No idea how much they are though. Which might be even scarier.... Lol.

You just can't let it get to you. You know you are losing inches and really that's all that should matter. I know what you mean about him getting on your nerves. My bf sat on a video game all winter and lost 20 lbs... and likes to rub it in. I did the same thing and I think I gained his 20... Lol. But he does support me also. They just don't always seem to understand how sensitive we are when it comes to weightloss. I'm getting more away from scales now. I just like feeling healthy.

As long as things are heading in the right direction; the actual number is totally meaningless. You are much more than a number, Chickie . . .

Yes, those big balance beam scales are usually the most accurate, but very few of us have enough house room for one.

I hate switching scales!

If you have a digital one now, you could try changing the battery?

I've changed it a few times. It still does the same thing.

God, I totally feel the same way. My scale at home is like.... a good 10lbs lower than the one at the doctor. lol I figure that I'll be happier if I keep this one, even though I know my actual weight in the back of my head... it at least keeps track of weight gained or lost!

Stupid scale...

I hate the doc's scale! It is always so much higher than the one i use. depressing!!!!! I would get another one if it really bothers you. I was using one that was 5 lbs too light. I use a digital WW one that I got on walmart.com. It was the cheapest of the digital scales.

Have you tried replacing the battery? Digital scales often go hinkey before the battery dies completely.

Oops, I see Athenawithheart has already made that suggestion - so I second it.

Our digital scale went wonky like that - and I never suspected the battery, because I just assumed that if it were a battery problem, either the scale wouldn't work at all, or the weight would be WAY off, but instead it seemed to "store" my weight. The weight readout was too consistent (I didn't become suspicious until it dawned on me how unlikely it was that I hadn't gained or lost so much as an ounce in weeks).
