Default Burnt Out

This is probably going to be a whiny rant, so you've been forewarned. I think I just need a moment to whine.

I've been stuck at the same weight for a month now. I've tried everything I can think of (and everything I got suggestions for here) and apparently I'm just stuck. And honestly (and where else but an online forum can I be completely honest) being healthier just isn't enough for me right now! I'm 25, I'm pretty healthy anyway, and I'm doing this (writing down everything I eat, keeping at 1400 calories, not eating fast food, running every day even though I hate it, drinking all this water, etc.) so that I can fit into my pretty dresses! If it's not going to change anything, well then I honestly don't want to eat this way forever!! If I'm not losing weight, well then I want more nights at the kegerator.

I know, that's uberwhiny and I should be thinking of the ways this makes me healthier. But really, I just want to fit back into my size 8 black cocktail dress and my bikini.

Thank you for letting me rant for a moment. Much appreciated!

the dreaded plateau.

let yourself have a care free day. then get back on plan, dont look at the scale for a while. these things are hard to break.

also, have you tried measuring for a while? maybe you're building muscle. when i get stuck i try to weigh and measure myself and then do it again later, sometimes the tape will move before the scale.

i'm really sorry- these are the most frustrating things. its like- why put yourself through this if nothing is going to change?!

honestly today i was having a pretty bad day and just thinking of how FAR i am from my goal and someone's signature stuck with me. i'm paraphrasing but it said something like, imagine what you will look like in 4 months if you quit. now imagine what you'll look like in 4 months if you stick to your diet. 4 months is giong to happen either way- its up to you to decide what you'll look like then

good luck, i know how terrible these times feel

Maybe try calorie cycling? It might help you start losing again. Also, consider starting a weight lifting/strength training plan 3x a week. I've just started and it already makes a huuuge difference in my body shape even though my weight hasn't changed. If you're pressed for time you could shorten your runs and do sprint intervals for 20-30min instead so you'll have time to do weights.

That really sucks! I don't blame you for feeling that way..I feel that way after two or three days when I don't lose..hee hee. I agree that you may be building muscle if you're working out every day. You are in the healthy range for your weight, I'm pretty sure. I'm 5'8 and my high weight for healthy is 165. This may be why you are not losing at 1400 cals. It takes more to lose when you get smaller (I learned that today ) Anyway, ADD's kicking in, you may want to lower your cals to 1200 to keep losing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I don't want to tell someone that and it be too low. You just seem to be at a lower weight so it may take more. I really hope you don't give up. Think about it a bit more or try something different before you completely throw in the towl.

Good luck!!

Also..you may want to read the "I have a question" post. It talks alittle about this and mentions a section w/ tips that may help.

i love me a whiny rant.

don't think you're the only one who's being totally superficial and only want to lose weight to highten the hottie factor in your own brain. if i can eat right and exercise and look like a slammin hottie come summer- i'm all for that. but if i eat all the right things even if they're more of a pain to prepare and sometimes don't taste as good and bust my butt working out (which i also loathe) and have NOTHING to show for it?

pass me the cheeseburgers and beer bongs please.

i have no clever advice, no 'chin up honey', but i CAN say this- being in the same kind of mindset as you, if you DO swan dive into gallons of ice cream ever night and spend lunch hours and wendys eating everything you can buy off the dollar menu for 10 bucks you WILL hate yourself for it. and you WILL wish you hadn't. your body can't hold onto that weight forever but i bet you it can pack pounds back on QUICK.

so really consider what you're doing and think about the fact that it's MARCH. isn't a little more suffering worth it not not be 20lbs HEAVIER by the time bikini season rolls around??

Do I ever know how you feel....It's SO frustrating!!

The only advice I can give is that maybe you need to eat more. I'm on weight watchers, and I had a similar situation- I was doing everything right, and working out like crazy. My leader recommended that I try eating more points- maybe figure out how many calories you're burning and add those to your daily target? It really worked for me.
I know it's extremely discouraging (believe me, I've wanted to give up too!), but keep at it. If you stick with it and keep working as hard as you have been, your body WILL clue in and start to lose.

"so really consider what you're doing and think about the fact that it's MARCH. isn't a little more suffering worth it not not be 20lbs HEAVIER by the time bikini season rolls around??"

That was just what I needed...I am feeling pretty bad about how my weight loss is going (because it isn't) and was just about to give in to my fast food craving. Ugh and boy do I hate that feeling of hating myself afterwards.

It's really hard right now, and believe that at this rate it's damn near impossible. (my goal, by may 23) I lose about 3 lbs super slow, then it stops for like a month. Then 3 more, and stop. I have only lost 14 lbs since January and I work out non stop. I am going CRAZY, but must keep going. I think just may run out my negativity today ( and I hate hate hate running, that's why I don't ) So yeah that's my mini rant, and I totally feel you on giving up sometimes. But I feel I owe it to myself to look and FEEL great. Let it all out, and keep rolling. Good luck all.

Thank you all for listening to my rant!! And for the tough love and the commiseration. And you're totally right that the swandive into ice cream would only lead to my downfall. I think that you guys gave me exactly what I needed to hear. So thanks! I don't really plan on giving up - in fact, when I tried to give myself free days this weekend, I think I ate much less than I normally do just from being nervous that I hadn't written anything down. So here goes... more running, more 1400 cal days, more dreams of my little navy blue bikini. Thanks friends.

Pris:
Half of my weight loss inspiration right now is being newly single, lmao. The other half is trying to STICK IT to a snooty saleswoman at the bridesmaid shop who thought I should get a size 14 because I was half an inch too big around my waist for a 12. Evidently, she thinks I can't lose half an inch between February and JUNE.
So like Coraz said... you're not the only one here who is hoping the weight loss is gonna rock the hotness factor.

I just wanted to tell you to HANG IN THERE as well, despite all the great advice you've already gotten... I just started doing the 30 Day Shred every single day. In 8 days.. I gained two lbs, eating well, and working out every day. Then I ate some wheat-free pretzels (covered in sodiummy salt!! ).. and gained another pound and a half overnight. (I'd forgotten about the sodium by the time I'd weighed in. I FREAKED.)

I wanted to quit, I felt like the working out was just such a waste of time.. I KNEW I was gaining muscle, but I just wasn't seeing any results. I was ready to throw in that towel...

And bam. I went from 154 back down to 150.4.
Your body's gonna do funny things while you start to ease into your new workout routine, but as long as you're pushing yourself workout-wise, and sticking to your healthy eating, your body WILL change. You have to give it time. And in the meantime... keep your spirits up. And when you fit back into that dress, and that bikini... we want PICTURES of what hot stuff you are!!
