I was trapped...

  • Agh I feel disgusting. So basically last weekend my plan was to go to the beach with my boyfriend and his mom. I got up early on Friday and did my 30ds, I planned on having Saturday be my one miss day, and I would start up again Sunday when I got home. But that didn't happen.

So while we were there his mom went on some sort of junk food spree. She bought cream puffs, a whole gallon of Tillamook ice cream, cookies for us to bake, cinnamon raisin bagels w/ peanut butter. For dinner on Friday we had a whole pizza schmizza cheese pizza(which if you don't know what that is, it's huge). She even bought herself a whole bag of fritos, while my boyfriend grabbed a different bag for himself, and she asked if she wanted my own bag.(I didn't) Needless to say I ate terribly ALL weekend, I was looking forward to coming home Sunday night to get back to 30ds and to eating better.

But Saturday night a huge snow storm came in and left 2-3 inches of snow in the valley where I live. And the way the geography here is that the beach is about 2 hours from the valley, and you have to drive through a mountain pass to get back to the valley. So because of the storm, and scary driving conditions we decided to stay Sunday night as well. We finally came home Monday around 4pm, and I had to rush to get ready cause I was supposed to work at 5pm. Anyway, I ended up eating bad Monday as well. And I didn't do the 30ds last night. So I've missed 3 days in a row.

Apparently, I ate so badly I made myself sick. I woke up this morning with the worst stomach ache, I've been in the bathroom off and on all morning.

Why did I do this to myself?
  • Well.. its really hard when no one is there helping you make wise choices.
Especially when its your bf's mother and you don't want to come off as picky, or snobby, or get on her bad side.
We all slip up, even bad at times.. The snow part stinks.. if it had happened around Buffalo, we would've driven home, but that's just the whole living where it snows thing...

    That said....

What matters now is that you get back into your grove of things... get back on your diet, maybe detox a day or 2... get exercising. Drink lots of water!

And next time, be prepared for it. You were TOTALLY caught off guard... Next time grab some healthy snacks, even before you leave to go on the trip.

Did you at least have a good time with your BF?
  • Don't beat yourself up about it, that won't do you any good. Just pick up where you left off like you were going to do. Keep on with your schedule and keep up the good work. ^_^

  • We all have moments like that and days where we just go totally off base. The only thing you can do now is let it go and keep on truckin!! I think MOST people would have a hard time resisting that. I agree with the prev. poster, just try to make a bit of a plan next time for those kinds of situations. I know you are probably bummed at yourself, but just try to think of the progress you have made already, and don't beat yourself up about it!!
  • DRose- Sounds like my weekend, only I was the only one tempting me!
I'm sorry girl, but we just gotta refocus, dust ourselves off and get going again. We can't expect life to be flawless and each day to go perfectly on plan, just work hard now. It's hard to get motivated again, I know that much. I feel like I've lost all motivation this weekend and now this week. Maybe we can nudge eachother! Good luck!

PS Where in Oregon are you from? I grew up on the east side of the Blue Mountains, so way on the east side. I heard almost all of Oregon got dumped on with snow this weekend!! We did here in Idaho too, boo! Makes me want to eat fudge and fattening stews and cocoa, hahahaha
  • One other positive is that you planned for after the vacation to get back on track. And that you didn't continue your binging spree once you came home.
Also, that you recognize where there was a problem, you feel about..
now move on.. seems like you're continuing on...
oh and another, you came to your support network... 3FC!!
  • Its commendable that you know where you could have made better choices. I know for me I'll do really well but sometimes I excuse myself when I'm in certain social situations and rationalize that had it not been for the party or the people I was with I would have kept OP. The truth is I let myself overindulge and just used the opportunity as an excuse to do something I wanted to do. At least you've caught yourself before too much damage has been done. Today is another day, your next meal is a whole new opportunity to make a healthy choice, don't beat yourself up. Good Luck!
  • We have all been there (in a similar situation i mean!) I can't tell you the number of times i have said that to myself. Get back on track and before you know it, those thoughts of remorse will be long gone! You can do it and we are here to help you!
  • Thank you all so much! You've helped me feel alot better about it all. I was sick yesterday so I didn't exercise, but I also ate hardly anything. Today I am planning to get my exercise back in and get back to my eating plan. Thanks for all the support

carcar I'm from the Portland/Beaverton area. The storm on Sunday was bad, but the news is saying that the storm that hits this evenning is supposed to be even worse
  • Did you at least enjoy your vacation while you were on it? Focus on that and get back on track, you'll be fine
