My fiance and I are having his mom over, and we're going to have a pretty traditional thanksgiving. Turkey, potatoes, rolls, gravy, etc. My plan is just to lean more heavily on the lighter, more filling items, and having a light lunch and breakfast so I don't stuff myself. I've been pretty good with self-control, it's now just a matter of measuring and making a plate that's within my calorie budget.
I agree that indulging but not going nuts is the way to go!
Since I've lost weight my appetite has become a LOT smaller! I really don't want to gorge myself and stretch out my stomach again!! lol!
I'm going to have everything, but little portions. I'm NOT counting calories, but will use portion control! I'm also going to work out extra hard on Wed and cut back by 200 calories on Friday.
I am planning on eating everything. It's only one day. I will focus on portion control as suggested by other people and I will be working out on the day as well. I am of the philosophy that if your workout/diet plan can't weather one day of poor eating, it isn't a reasonable solution. My goal is making a change in my lifestyle, which includes holidays. Happy Thanksgiving to everybody!
I am eating it all. I'm going to workout extra and just listen to my body. If it wants pumpkin pie well, i'm gonna have some. Its just one day out of the year, and i don't really go crazy any other holidays so i don't see the harm. I love Thanksgiving foods so i know i'll have to try at least a little of everything.
I plan to eat what I want on Thanksgiving, but not gorge myself until I feel like puking.
I'm currently calorie shifting, so I'm making that my highest calorie day for the week. Until then I'm kind of keeping it light to even things out. I am kinda scared for my Saturday weight in though...especially since I didn't lose ANY last week.
I don't like thanksgiving food. I know - what a loser I am.
My family makes ham and turkey, so I'll have some ham, some noodles, veggies, and maybe a sliver of pie. Sounds good to me! I'm planning on taking a plate, then being done.

AMEN!! I love pumpkin pie!! It's actually a really nutritious dessert since it is made with so much fruit!! WAY better choice than pecan pie!! Lucky for us we love pumpkin huh?
My moms side of the family I don't have to worry too much. My grandpa is diabetic so there's always a sugar free pie and sugar free "treats". I can stick with that for the dessert and not feel too guilty. The family as a whole eats pretty healthy we usually have tons of veggies so I can focus filling my plate with those and there won't be room for stuffing and potatoes. Its my dads side thats terrible. Traditional southern cooking at its Thanksgiving finest.. fried fried fried.
The main thing is that I am not going to make myself sick. My appetite has shrunk considerably & I can't put down as much food as I used to be able to. So, I'm going eat the things I love, eat from the veggie tray I'm bringing, but not going to get gross.
I'm going to make smart choices. I'm only gonna have the stuff I love. Like I won't be snacking on the calorie filled appetizers that I can have any other time. I'm gonna have healthy snacks before the meal in hopes I won't be super hungry when dinner is ready. As for the main meal, I'm gonna have larger portions of meat and veggies but I'm not gonna restrict myself from anything. Just exercise good portion control with the stuff thats bad for me.
