Biggest Loser: Orange Team Thread
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...orangeteam.jpg
Hey Orange Team! So here's the deal... every Monday morning weigh yourself, and post your weight here (I've changed it to every Monday instead of every Sunday, it makes more sense, but it MUST be posted by Monday at noon to stay in the game). Also post your final goal weight, and do the quick math to figure out how many pounds you are from that weight (Current weight [minus] goal weight). Your team will have to elect a captain (soon!), and that person will add up the numbers: 1. Add together your team's total weight. 2. Add together the total number of pounds that need to be lost to get to everyone's goals. 3. Make a Black Team's total weight, and number of pounds to be lost this week... then next week, add in the total number of pounds lost that week. Use this thread to get to know your teammates. Get everyone to dish about their eating habits, their workout routines, strengths, weaknesses, what you can bring to the table, and what you need help with. Give each other suggestions, encouragement, new ideas and strategize. Let's see it ladies. Which team can be the Biggest Loser? |
OK, great! If no-one else really wants to do it I wouldn't mind being team captain. I have one question though - I live in Europe and I am really bad at calculating time differences. It is possible that I post my weight too late because of that (and because I usually don't get up in the middle of the night to check forums :D). I hope this is not a problem?
Orange team, show yourselves! Our thread is lowest... that is not acceptable :p Oh, my current weight is 150 lbs (I know it says 148 but I haven't weighed that for a week) and at the end of the challenge I'd like to be at my goal weight: 142 lbs. |
Hey darlin! ;) From where I am at least, you're six hours ahead. So, if you handled your weight Monday morning at 10 am, it would be 4 am for us, and we'd all still be in bed! :D So, it'll work out just fine, if you were the captain to add things together and such on Monday afternoon/evening.
Note to all: Hey everyone! When posting your current weight and goal weight, do not post the goal that you have for the end of the 4 weeks. Post your FINAL GOAL WEIGHT. :) Cheers! |
Hello!!!!!!!!!!
I am super excited about this challenge! Thanks Elwing for volunteering! I just weighed myself (thought we were doing sun WI) and I weigh totally different if I move my scale around my bathroom!!!!!!!!!!!!! ahhh panic! So I am picking the heaviest weight and mentally marked in my bathroom where that point was on the floor.. so I can weigh myself in the same spot every monday. That sounds very insane but i couldn't believe it as I moved my scale to different places! OK well I am so so thrilled about this. I am a definite yo-yo dieter and have been for years. This is the challenge I need to stay OP and be accountable for my actions! |
Hiya!!
This challenge sould be great :D Elwing, thanks from me for volunteering too :) I live in the UK so the time differences are confusing to me too :dizzy: Hopefully if I post my weight before I go to work in the morning (about 7am UK time) it should be in time. I'm so ready for this! I got home from visiting my parents about half an hour ago and all I wanted to do was have dinner and go to sleep but now I've seen this I'm so ready to do today's 30DS! Talk about motivation :carrot: Go Orange Team!!! |
I'm very glad about your enthusiasm! Everyone, do not forget to post
-current weight -final goal weight -difference between the two. Also, I'm quite excited to know some more about everyone. What do you do in everyday life, what kind of plan do you follow to lose, what do you have the most trouble with? I am a 22 years old student, my field of study is medicine and at the moment I'm quite busy with my first year of internships. I'm from Holland. I also like improvisation theatre, herbs, spices, reading, drum n bass, all other kinds of music, sewing, simulation pet sites and I have the tic of buying all kinds of pens and markers :D. I currently own red, black, green, blue, pink and purple permanent markers (TMI?). Oh well, at least it's healthier than Mc or Burger addictions, right? I'm single and living in the noisiest student home ever, together with my preppy housemate, three stoners and a 36-year-old alcoholic. For losing weight I try to exercise for at least 30 minutes a day (I do walking, running, 30 day shred, aquarobics and swimming). I limit snacking to healthy stuff, eat normal breakfast and lunch and a lean evening meal. I usually do some more snacking 1 or 2 nights a week when I have something special, but I try to stay within certain boundaries and snack less among that time, or exercise more. It's not really a set-out plan but it works for me - at least it used to, for I fear I am plateauing. I hope this challenge kicks my butt once and for all! |
Well Ewing I laughed reading your post. Your housemates seem... interesting!!! Do you only have 2 kg to lose? You are very close to goal so that must be why you are at a plateau. How much are you trying to lose for this challenge?
I am a soon-to-be 27 year old (Bday Dec) orthodontic resident. I was a biology major in college, went to dental school for 4 years, just graduated in may, and am doing a 3 year residency in orthodontics.. I love it! I was always thin growing up, then I went to college and gained weight and lost it.. so begins the yo-yo dieting ever since. I am the queen of self-sabotage. I am so sick of doing this it is not even funny. I have a bunch of pants in my closet that are way too tight but I can't bear to throw them out... I am determined to get back into them!!! I follow WW sometimes and other times I count calories, and other times I just try to make good choices.. i get bored sticking to one thing all the time so I change it up from week to week. I exercise 35-45 min per day, either doing the treadmill or tae bo. I know how to eat healthy, but my downfall is chocolate and anything sweet! Thanksgiving is going to be very challenging! Sorry this is so long... where is the rest of our team?? |
Current: 182ish... I'll have to weigh myself later today to be sure.
goal: 150ish. So I've got about 30 or so pounds to go. I've already lost 30 (I started at around 200), and then got completely caught up with school and work and went back to the same crappy routine, and found myself back up to 182. Here's hoping I can drop down to 150 and keep it off. I'm doing the 30 day shred, and trying to do a couch to 5k running program as well. I'm not much of a calorie counter. I find when I do that I get too obsessed with it. |
I'm 26 years old and I live in the UK with my fiancé. I graduated from University in 2004 and at the moment I'm working for an accountancy firm. I used to be pretty skinny as a child, which my Nan thought was wrong so she programmed me to eat everything I was given and join the rest of my family in being overweight. Well, now I want to take charge of my own life and look the way I want to, not the way other people think I should :D
I'll weigh myself tomorrow morning and post my real weight but I think it's around 214lbs. My goal at the moment is 148lbs so that's 66 lbs I need to lose to get there. I'm hoping this challenge is going to really help me get myself into some kind of routine. At the moment I eat a good breakfast, low in fat but around 350-400 cals so I don't snack before lunch (usually porridge (and a yogurt if I'm really hungry)). At lunch I usually have about 400 cals (sandwich, fruit, nuts, yogurt) and I try to have a healthy dinner to take me up to about 1500-1700 cals. I take the train to work every day so I walk to the station and then to work at the other end and back again in the evenings which works out at about 1.5 miles a day. I try to do it briskly too so I get my heart rate up and count this towards my exercise. :running: I'm also doing the 30 Day Shred and I go to the gym when I can too for an hour at a time. :woops: My weaknesses are cheese, chocolate and bread, oh how I love them :val1: I seem to be managing to keep them out of my diet at the moment, hopefully I can keep it up ;) |
I am enjoying reading about everyone. But where is Jmb1981 and Marineswife85???
I ordered a new scale online a week ago but it hasn't arrived yet!:( The scale I have now is def on the light side... like 5-7 lbs light. So oh well I will just use it for this challenge. anyway... do any of you have access to a computer during the day? I can usually get on here a few times during the day.. just wondering so I can keep up my motivation throughout the day. Ok well here's to Team Orange!!!!!!!!:carrot: |
hey team! i've not been on the computer much this weekend, trying to get the house cleaned and enjoying time with my family. i have a couple minutes now, so i will do a bit of an introduction.
i am 27, married for a little over a year, we have a 2 1/2 year old daughter (reagan), and a puppy (khloe). i've always been big, lots of reasons why, won't go into all that, but the main part is that i was never taught how and why to eat and it has just gotten out of hand. i'm done with being big and am in this till the end. i went to college and graduated with a bs in education (early childhood to be exact). there aren't many positions in ohio and when there is one there are many people who apply (ohio puts out more teachers than it needs), so i don't teach. i currently work for my county board of mr/dd as a developmental specialist. love my job!! outside of work and family i lead a pretty boring life. we just hang out with each other and ocassionaly with friends. i wouldn't change anything though, i'm content with where life has lead me. diet wise, i am doing weight watchers. it has worked in the past and is working now, so i'm sticking with it. exercise consists of walk away the pounds and tae-bo, starting december 1 i am switching from tae-bo to 30 day shred. i usually work out daily, except sunday. workouts range from 30 minutes to an hour. i think that sums it up for now! can't wait to get to know you more! will post in the morning after weigh in! |
Thanks everyone for posting :). I'm really getting into the spirit... did I mention I have a very competitive nature?
Jessie: Yeah, I have quite odd housemates... I guess it keeps things interesting. But don't get me started about my houselord. Ugh :) he doesn't fix anything and ignores all laws and rules that apply to him. I hope to be at my goal weight at the end of this challenge... I think I should be able to do it! I lost 20 lbs in 2 months so it *should* be possible. We should have banners! Do we have any photoshop-fantastics among us? If not I guess I could try to whip up something in the Gimp tomorrow afternoon... but don't expect too much from it :). Something with oranges? Or carrots? *ponders* |
hey jessie just wanted to let you know that i haven't been on much this weekend, but usually through the week i am on a LOT! i get bored at work! tomorrow is an exception b/c i have a training and will be at it all day, but other than tomorrow, usually i am on throughout the day.
|
Elwing- I want a banner but i don't have a clue how to make one!! And I can't think of a catchy phrase with orange in it. Some other teams have catchy slogans. haha well see if you can whip something up if you have time. I am competitive too!
Jbm1981- no worries about the posting!:) I am just looking forward to an active group to keep me motivated. I am getting really excited! yay! |
JMB- your siggie says green team!!! It is orange!!!!:)
|
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...teambanner.jpg
...I'm never gonna finish my essay if I keep reading these threads... |
i looooooooooooove it jelbb!
But I can't post a siggy.. it says i have to wait 20 days.. do you know if I can change this???? |
I've gotta wait a while for a signature too.
My forum use is slightly sporadic. Mondays and Wednesdays I'm at school from 8:30 in the morning until 11 at night. Most other days of the week I generally pop on at least once, unless I'm super busy. |
Well, as long as you get your starting weights in each Monday before class for your team, and work hard at losing all week, that shouldn't be a huge problem. ;)
|
okay, i fixed it. i don't know what i was thinking! i knew that i am orange! jelbb, how can we use the orange signature that you made? i tried to copy and paste, that didn't work for me. or maybe i did it wrong? i would love to add it to my signature! thanks!
|
Simply place the URL: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...teambanner.jpg (Click on the link, THEN copy it from the address bar) inbetween two image tags. The easiest way to do this is to click the little mountain and sun icon in your reply area, and paste the link into the pop-up window.
|
thanks jelbb!
|
Wow, love the signature! Thanks Jelbb :)
Ok, here are my weights as of this morning: Current: 214 Goal: 148 Difference: 66 Go Orange Team! :carrot: |
Wow, that banner is totally better than anything I could make :) *puts it into sig*
Weights Current: 150 Goal: 142 Difference: 8 |
Hi ladies!
Thought I'd just throw a bit of a random post in here as I'm at work, cold and a little bored  I usually have access to the forums during the day but for the last 3 days of this week and the first 3 of next week I'll be working in a different office and doubt I'll be able to get on here. I'm also off out at client's places for 5 days after that :( I'll be around in the evenings though...but I think that might be the day time for most of you :dizzy: Still, I'm here now :D The good thing is that the office I'll be working in is only a couple of streets away from my gym so my plan is to go there straight after work, work out for an hour, go home and (if I have enough energy left!!) do the 30DS. :exercise: I've got all these good intentions floating around me at the moment, I hope I manage to put them all into practice...really want to shift those lbs! :dust: |
good morning all! well, it's morning here, 6:30. just got up and had my morning weigh in. i am down 1.5lbs from last week! here are my weights for the purpose of this challenge:
start weight: 295 overall goal: 170 need to lose: 125 hope everybody has a great day! i am in a training today so won't be around until this evening. let's go team! keep today on plan and try to get some exercise in! we are going to "squeeze out the competition"!! |
Well I can't post the siggy for another 10 days or so:(
So here are my stats: Start weight: 128 (I am not really this light.. but my scale is def on the light side.. i think it measures how much i lose accurately though) Goal weight: 118 Need to lose: 10 lbs Ok I will post later and read your other posts... need to get ready Good luck Oranges on our first day of the challenge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D |
As of this morning:
Start: 180 (down 2 lbs, woohoo) goal: 155 Need to lose: 25 Go orange! |
Wow Anti222... you are very determined and motivated! Very impressive.. I am so excited about the challenge and really hoping this helps me lose my last 10 lbs!!!!!!:carrot:
|
Should we set some goals for our team??? Maybe we could collectively do a set number of hours of exercise for the week... or make sure we are drinking enough water? I was reading the black team thread and I think they are doing that. Just a suggestion.. no pressure! Not sure how much time everyone has for exercise!
|
I have written down and calculated all measurements, and will be posting them into the main Biggest Loser thread first thing after this post. Did anyone hear something of Marineswife? I think she didn't post in this thread at all yet (but it wouldn't be the first time I overlooked something...).
I really like that our team is so varied in different aspects: things we do in life, weight goals, new and older forum users. Anti222: Your plan for the week sounds great! Just stick to it and I'm sure you'll lose some. JessieCat: If I set any more goals for myself I'm not sure I'll be able to keep track of everything :P. No, I'm not against goals, but I think we should all agree on them. I don't want to pressure someone into exercising more than they have time for. The drinking water thing sounds like a good idea. I forgot to drink today and came out of class with a nasty headache. Maybe everyone could set a goal for themselves and we will use this thread to keep each other accountable for it? My goal is drinking at least 1.5 L of water each day. I just came back from the supermarket and I bought tomatoes, tomato puree and a cauliflower. That is all (no, I eat things besides veggies, I just had that part of my meal at home already :P). My plan for tonight was making wraps with the aubergine-garlic puree I have in my freezer, with the tomatoes. Then I thought "But I am missing meat. Maybe nuts would be fitting?" So I went over to the nut section and before tossing a packet of pistachios in my basket I read the nutrition facts, just to be sure. HOLY CRAP 600 calories for 100 gram! And then to think that I could easily consume 400 grams (about 1 lb) of pistachios in one sitting! It used to be my favorite comfort food... well not any more I guess. Even chocolate is better. Goodbye dear pistachios... I'll miss you :(. I'll go with chicken breast instead. |
Mmm...I love pistachios! I like the ones still in their shells that are completely drowned in salt. Only ever eat them at Christmas though and only have a handful as I get fed up opening the shells after a few :D
I have some wraps at home that I need to eat soon but I had them for dinner last night and I had the leftovers for lunch too so I'm a bit bored of them now. They were good though, I stir-fried some peppers and onions with a jalapeno and oregano dry mix and put that in them with some tomato salsa. Only about 150 cals each too so I had 2 for lunch, yum! :) I'll try to keep count of the amount of water I drink but I usually don't think about it :?: Thinking about it now though, I suppose I drink about 1.5 litres a day. I have 4-5 mugs of green tea or oolong tea at work (some people say not to count that towards water intake because it's dehydrating but I do anyway...I can't imagine anything that makes me run off to the bathroom so many times in a day can be dehydrating me ;) ). I also drink a massive glass of water with my dinner, take a glass to bed with me (it's cold here at night so I watch TV in bed with a glass of water to try to avoid snacking) and drink loads when I exercise too. Anyway, after all that rambling, yes, I'll keep track of what I drink :D |
That is crazy about the pistachios!!
I made a delicious lunch but left it at my front door..ugh! I never do that. So I am going to eat some cereal today.. the healthist option at our not so healthy cafeteria.. I will read more and catch up later. |
I'm going to sleep now... I'm so tired it's not even funny. My eyes are closing of their own accord.
The aquarobics was nice but the instructor had thought of all kinds of exercises that made almost go my head down the water all the time. Well - I don't like that much. It invokes a panic reaction with me and I can't be the only one with that problem. And then he becomes pissed when people don't comply with his instructions. At least I could channel my anger into a very active workout :). The little children that have swimming lessons in the pool before us stayed looking through the window. It was so cute! We probably look ridiculous but they were really interested. Good luck girls, and stay strong! |
I didn't think water aerobics usually required you to put your head under water?? that is strange! Today was weird... I was feeling super hypoglycemic.. I broke out into a sweat and I had to go to the cafeteria and get something to eat. I got a kashi granola bar and felt 100% better! That hasn't happened to me I think in 2 years or so!
Anyway, well I will be on the computer most of the night, so post if you are around!:) |
how was everybody's first day of the challenge? mine went really well, although i didn't get to exercise :( i usually exercise in the morning before i get my daughter up, but i had to get up early today for the training, so exercise didn't happen. i bet you are thinking, "why don't you exercise tonight?" well then answer to that is that the training last until 4, i had to pick up my daughter from the sitter, get my dog and take her to the vet to get her stitches out. plus it started snowing today so it made people drive slower. i just got home. it's 8:00. i just want to have a light dinner and play with my daughter some. tomorrow will be different. morning will be normal so i will be able to get up and exercise. i don't have to work late and there is nothing going on so i can also exercise in the evening (i usually do both when i can). eating wise i did great today! i'm pretty proud of that considering there was candy and cookies at the training. the girls i went with ate some, but not me. it just wasn't worth it!
i don't really have much of an opinion on setting a goal for us. i only drink water. i keep a 32 oz. cup that i refill throughout the day. i usually drink one cup for each time i exercise, one with breakfast, one with lunch, one with dinner, and then i sip in b/t meals. i would say i average about 100 oz. a day? that's my best guess. if it is an exercise goal, like i said, i usually exercise in the mornings monday-saturday (unless something prevents me) for 30 minutes and again in the evenings 3-4x's a week for 30 minutes to an hour (depending on what i do). i'm ready for day 2! keep up the good work ladies!! |
My first day was great. I didn't work out either.. I needed a break from working out 5 days straight.. my muscles get sore. I also try to work out in the morning... but I felt so sore and was so tired. Tomorrow... I am definitely working out. I actually kind of look forward to it. I do a tae bo dvd and it is actually kind of fun!
1 day down.. 29 more to go!:carrot: |
i love tae-bo! i can't do it like i used to be able to, but i'm getting there! i usually do that one in the evenings, about 3x's a week. the rest of the time i do a walk away the pounds video. gets me moving and gets my heart rate up. i definitely look forward to working out! i feel weird if i don't!
|
Morning ladies!
The first day was ok, I managed to do a brisk 1.5 mile walk so I don't feel quite so bad for not doing the 30DS last night. I had intended to do it but I had such a bad day, then I got home and my fiancé told me he's going to Germany for 3 days in December to visit some friends and he thought I knew we were going. I didn't know we were going and now there's no chance of me getting the time off work so GRRRR he's going without me. He's going with my friends too, seems they all thought someone else had told me :( Then he fell up the stairs and I laughed a lot (he laughed a lot too....I'm not THAT cruel ;) ) but then had to listen to him whinge all night because he had a small red mark on his shin. Then my friend phoned me and I had to listen to him whinge for half an hour. After all that I was so fed up I went to bed early. Anyway, today will be better :) Still going to do my 1.5 mile walk and will do the 30DS when I get home. I WILL! :carrot: Go Orange Team! |
Jmb- I know exactly what you mean! I did my tae bo dvd this morning (Billy Blank.. remember him!!?) It was fantastic. I feel amazing.
Anti222- I'm sorry but I was laughing when I read your post about your fiance complaining about a small red mark on his shin.... hahaha that is funny. BTW when are you getting married? do you have a dress yet?? details!!! (Not that I am happy he did that but the way you wrote everything made me laugh!) I am sorry you can't go to Germany. That is diasppointing! I guess Marineswife is MIA??? I hope she is ok. Well no patients in the morning so I will be on here a lot! (avoiding doing work haha) |
