Elwing- SOOOO inspiring that you cycled through a snow storm to get to the pool. Now that takes motivation!!! So how many lbs are you down since we started on monday?

Well I went on the scale and it says I am down 2 lbs!!!!!! So if I stay water-logged this weekend and I am going to hit up the treadmill, I am hoping monday's WI will be a success!!! And I am still sore today but a bit less. I am skipping 30DS today but plan to do it again tomorrow.

I am going to Wal-mart to pick up my new scale, but I am continuing to use my old one for the challenge. This should be interesting.

Thank you ladies so much for motivating me! If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be doing 30DS and I wouldn't have stepped up my work-out intensity.

Elwing 11-22-2008 07:56 AM

That would be 3 lbs down - but to be fair I'd have to say that monday was *just* before the scale dropped down, and that it had been a little lower before that, for a few days or so. It looked something like this: 68-68-67.5-67-68-68-68-67-67-66.5.

You all are a great motivation too :). I really feel I should keep doing my best, for myself of course, but also partly for this challenge. Lvl 2 30 DS tonight - wish me luck!

JessieCat 11-22-2008 08:07 AM

Elwing- 3lbs!! yay! Good luck with the shred! It is so worth it and I feel so accomplished afterwards!
I agree with Elwing- I am of course trying to lose the weight for myself, but I honestly believe if it weren't for this competition, I would have fallen off the wagon this week. I really don't want to disappoint you all! Knowing that I have to report to you girls has totally changed my decisions with food and working out! I am soooo grateful. Honestly, for years I have yo-yo'ed and tried lots of different diets and motivation tactics. But this seems to be working soo great!!! And I love a good competition... I didn't realize how much so until this challenge!

I always wondered how I could be so studious and kick *** in school but not be able to apply the same energy and thinking to my weight loss. But in school I always wanted to do the best and be in the top of the class.. so it was like a competition (sort of). And I think I am applying that mentality to this challenge.. (does that make sense at all??:dizzy:)

Anyway, enough rambling... off to walmart!

Anti222 11-22-2008 08:22 AM

Hi everyone! Sounds like you all had a good Friday, nice one! Mine was ok, didn't have the stir-fry as my friend made risotto instead so I thought I'd eat round his. It wasn't really risotto though...the rice soaked up all the vegetable stock so it was just stodgy vegetable flavoured rice and with mushrooms :D It was ok though and the wine went down nicely! Had a lot of it though and now I have a hangover :faint: I suppose I deserve it though ;)

I jumped on the scales last night before I went out though and I'm down 1.3lbs since Monday :) Was very nice to see that, plenty motivation to stay OP all weekend now, especially since I find weekends pretty tough. At least the hangover's making me feel sick so I don't feel like eating much ;) Might have to fit a cup of really sweet tea into my calories today though, that always helps me feel better :) I'll exercise later and report back this evening

Have a great weekend!

Edit: Sorry for all the emoticons...I think I have some kind of obsession with them!

Elwing 11-22-2008 01:17 PM

I've been buying clothes today and it was fun (needing a smaller size than you thought you had is a nice surprise, as opposed to the opposite). I also bought a cap, handmade knit one with a felt butterfly on the side. I look a bit like a gnome when I'm wearing it :). To be honest I saw another one that I also want... it's red with a little pointy thing on top , even more gnome-like.

A friend is coming over to dinner tonight which is nice, but she has me a bit frustrated. First we would meet each other in the afternoon, but she asked if we could go for the evening instead because it fit her better. Sure, no problem. I asked, shall we meet for dinner or later on in the evening? She said that it didn't matter to her, she was free alll evening. So I proposed that we would have dinner. Then she wanted to specify the time, which wasn't really needed for me, but whatever, we went for 7 in the evening. And now it is 7:15 and she just called that she is a little later because of another thing that took longer than expected. I mean, I don't really care that she is later, but why then was she so insistant on specifying a time in the first place? If she is so busy why does she leave it to me to specify everything? Oh well... at least the food will be nice :D (cauliflower curry again ftw).

jmb1981 11-22-2008 03:16 PM

hello all! how's the weekend going so far? mine is relaxing for once, nothing planned that i HAVE to do! hasn't happened in a long time! feels good! my daughter slept in this morning (usually she's up no later than 7) until 8. we all got up and my hubby fixed breakfast for him and reagan while i walked 4 miles with leslie. i thought about trying to do 30ds right after, but i was a little tired and sore (especially after doing it yesterday) so i decided to wait. i ate my breakfast. i was craving chocolate special k. it hit the spot! my husband had to work and daughter and i headed to town to run some errands. when we got home i fixed her lunch and she ate while i did my second day of 30ds. wow! got through more of it today, it hurt so good! :) now i am waiting for hubby to return home. i think reagan and i are going to have to make a second trip to town b/c of some changed plans (hubby was supposed to get home earlier b/c i was supposed to work, that's not happening so now i need to go get some dinner stuff so we don't end up with pizza). anyhow, it just feels nice to have some down time. i think reagan and i might pull out our christmas decorations tonight (i know it's not even thanksgiving yet, but if we don't do it this weekend we won't get it done for a while and i LOVE christmas and the lights and decorations and everything about it).

elwing: cycling through the snow to swim shows some hard core dedication! congrats on the scale victory, see dedication pays off! i am so ready to do some shopping. i'm not ready to buy clothes for me yet, but i am ready to get some christmas shopping done. i love buying gifts!

anti222: seeing a lower number on the scale is definitely a big motivation! i know it keeps me going. sometimes i just picture the number in my head and it's all i need to not make an unhealthy food choice or to keep going with the exercise!

jessie: i like the school analogy. i am a competitive person and i was the same way in school. i always wanted to get the highest grade and beat everybody else. guess now that i no longer have school i am funneling that energy to weight loss!

so this 30ds is kicking my butt! so glad that i decided to get it early and start early! i am sore right now, my legs especially! i'm excited to do it again tomorrow! i took my measurements yesterday (maybe i have already said that?) and can't wait to see what they are in 30 days!

we've done awesome all week, let's finish the weekend strong!! oh, i weighed myself again today (i'm addicted to the scale, not good) and it was 292, 3lbs down from monday!

jmb1981 11-23-2008 08:38 AM

it's 8:30. i am trying to talk myself into exercising. i know it will make me feel good. i know i will regret it if i don't exercise. i'm just not feeling it right now. i'm debating if i really want to walk with leslie today. i will do 30ds. the scale was back up .5lbs. darn the daily fluctuations! tomorrow will still be less than last week so that is good. i need to exercise now. just do it and get it over with.

Elwing 11-23-2008 08:48 AM

Come on, go and exercise! You know you want to do it :)

jmb1981 11-23-2008 09:32 AM

i did, i did it! actually, i tried to do my normal thing and started with leslie, but my computer froze about 1/2 a mile into it. took me so long to talk myself into it and that happens! so i decided that instead of leslie i would just do 30ds. and i did. and it hurts everytime! i feel like i get more out of it than i do the walking. i think it is b/c i have been trained to think "if you can't feel it, it's not doing anything". which i realize is not accurate. i mean, i do get my heart rate up with leslie and i am sweating like a man by the end, but i never get that burn in my muscles like i do with 30ds. i think this evening if i have a free moment (which i am sure i will) i am going to pop 30ds in again. i love it!

Elwing 11-23-2008 10:13 AM

Yay, well done! Great willpower :)

I finished level 2 from the 30 DS again this morning but it was quite hard. But I finished the damn thing and that's what counts. I did not get around to exercising yesterday (but I have been walking while shopping for 1.5 hours or so). My friend stayed until 11 and we even went to a cafe after that. I only had 1 glass of vodka and a lot of water, and (wisely) decided to go home before they brought out the fried snacks. I don't think I could have resisted those. Today is quiet... I ate some bread, and no-fat no-sugar fruit yoghurt with muesli, and some leftovers from yesterday night (virtually only vegetables, so it should be all right). I've got a test next week so I'm studying. Pasta has been planned for tonight. It has been so long since I ate that. I bought whole-wheat biological penne for the occasion.

How are you all doing? Don't forget to post your weigh-in numbers tomorrow morning. You are all a great help, you really are

JessieCat 11-23-2008 11:10 AM

Elwing- I am glad you had fun with your friend. I am so impatient.. I hate waiting for people, esp when we have a set time to meet!
Jmb- So proud of you for doing the shred! I had to skip yesterday b/c I am so ungodly sore it is not even funny. I tried to really get in to it and not do any modified moves (except the push up!) so my quads are killing me!!!!

Well I power-walked on increasing incline on the treadmill for 38 min, then did 30DS (day 3, level 1). Honestly, I feel so fantastic afterwards. I always feel great after a workout, but even more with 30DS.

So I got my new WW scale (measures BMI, body fat, bone density, water) and it is 5 lbs more than the scale I use. That is ok. So according to my old scale, I am down about 2.5 lbs from monday. I def have TOM AGAIN!!!!!!!! which I am so not happy about so I am staying water-logged all day so TOM doesn't affect my number tomorrow!

I don't know about you, but this week feels like forever! I always feel that way though.. when I am hard-core dieting and exercising, the days feel longer for some reason. Maybe b/c I obsess about food and losing weight all day! hahaha.. well have a great sunday everyone!

Elwing 11-23-2008 02:13 PM

JessieCat: I suppose you'll just keep using your old scale for the TBL measurements? I can also edit your first weight in that post... it's no trouble at all. As long as I know what scale you use it's all right :). Your exercise sounds great! This week feels too short rather than too long for me, but that's because I'm way too busy with all kinds of school stuff. Time flies by.

It wasn't really intended but I also took a brisk walk of 30 min this afternoon. I still had to vote and had to do it by post, but it turned out that the post box had disappeared. So I walked through the neighborhood criss cross for 30 minutes to find another one. It was quite cold and fresh outside, very nice! Dinner is done already but I find myself still thinking about food all the time. I don't understand; I've eaten plenty. It's not that I'm hungry, I just have an urge to snack. Maybe it's because someone is cooking pizza and the smell is creeping under my door into my nostrils? Aaargh! I'm going to make tea.

JessieCat 11-23-2008 02:23 PM

Elwing- I am using the old scale for the challenge just to keep things easy. Thanks for inquiring! Sounds like you had a nice walk! I feel soo snacky today too! I feel like I have been drinking tea by the boat-load.. seriously every time I want to snack, I put the kettle on! haha oh well at least I am getting some antioxidants!:p

Anti222 11-23-2008 04:00 PM

Hi everyone! It's 8.50pm here and I'm about ready for bed :) It's freezing and I've put the heating on in my room and put 2 hot water bottles in my bed ready for when I get there. Guess I'm a bit of a wimp but it's gonna be soooo warm and snuggly in there that I can't wait :D

It snowed here today for the first time since last winter :carrot: It's all melted now but this morning I woke up and looked outside and there was snow everywhere! It was lovely so I got all wrapped up and went for a walk in it. I just walked to the store to get some shopping but it's about a 45 minute walk there and back so I got a bit of exercise in :) I was sweating like mad when I got back too as the bags were heavier than I'd planned and I had way too many clothes on. My boots also decided to soak up all the slush too so my feet were swimming in them by the time I got home :( It was ok though as I put up some pink and white Christmas lights to cheer myself up :D Yeah it's a little early but I was feeling soooo festive!

I've been eating ok today so hopefully tomorrows weight in should be fine :) I filled up the washer bottle on my car today and now I can't shut my bonnet properly so I have to take it to the garage tomorrow which really annoyed me. Other than that it's been a good weekend.

It's great to see you ladies are doing so well with the exercise too! Are we going to have some kind of targets to meet for next week? Just wondering :) Getting a certain amount in every day will be tricky for me as I travel quite a bit with work and have to stay at client's places sometimes but a weekly target could be possible? Just an idea though :) Happy Sunday everyone!!!

jmb1981 11-23-2008 07:32 PM

sounds like everybody had a good weekend! so ready to see how tomorrow morning goes!

i managed to get in another round with jillian this evening. i love that video! she packs so much into that 20 minutes. i have been getting better each time i do it. i think by tuesday i should be making it through level 1 with no pausing or modifications. that's my goal at least!

i'm with you on the christmas decorations anti! i actually broke out all the decorations today. put up the tree, got out my snowglobes, everything. love it! it's such a festive time of year. lifts my spirits! my daughter keeps saying that it is her tree and this is her christmas. she is going to be so much fun this christmas! it will be her first big one where she is talking and remembering and understanding. so exciting!! she thought our first snow was the greatest thing. she kept wanting to touch it and walk in it. she is funny!

anyhow, i should probably eat a little bit for dinner although it is getting late so it will be something light, maybe an apple and a dried fruit, granola, and nut mixture. that sounds good!

back to work tomorrow! another week trying to stay on plan!
