Default Does being sick make you heavier on the scale?

So strange. I've been sick for a few days. I've been eating below calories. I've been exercising as normal, it actually makes me feel better.

But for the last two days I've been 287 and I was 281 Sunday. I think TOM should be coming next week so that could be it, but I usually don't gain that much and it happens usually the day of. My clothes are loser since I've been sick.

I've always heard of people losing weight when their sick not gaining. I swear my body is so backwards!

I was sick this past weekend, and I'm sure I was quite dehydrated. My weight (immediately after sickness) was 245. Today it was 250. I wasn't able to eat so I'm sure I didn't eat five pounds worth...

I always go up a couple fo pounds because I tend to fill up on crackers, chicken noodle soup, and 7UP with Ermergen-C (the cure all for EVERYTHING from hangovers to colds!!)

I'm the complete opposite...I lose weight when I'm sick. I just stop eating and drinking and sleep through it. If someone doesn't come over my house and force feed me, I pretty much nibble on crackers and sip tea between naps. I usually come out about 10 pounds lighter. Of course, I gain this all back like a week later.

I tend to retain water when I'm sick, especially if I'm laying down alot. Some of it could be increases salt, as I tend to eat more canned soups when I'm sick - both as a traditional comfort food, and because it's easy "no-fuss" to prepare.

This is all making me feel better. I thought I was going crazy. I bet it is water retention. Especially b/c I'm still working out and my body is trying to fight this thing. Thank you all for sharing your input. I so appreciate it.

I hope you feel better! I was sick over the weekend and I throw all diet considerations out the window because I just want soup and soda in order to just feel better.

I usually eat more when I'm sick, plus I won't exercise, so yes I gain weight. Plus just feeling miserable makes me slouchy and fatter, and unbelievable as it may be, even without eating, it will make me weigh more.

I almost always gain when I'm sick. Unless its a stomach virus, then I lose out of dehydration and then gain it all back as soon as I'm better.
