When your self esteem issues branch out farther than just your weight, like feeling that you will still be ugly even when your skinny, I find it refreshing to go to the beauty salon. If all your focus is on losing weight but in the back of your mind your afraid nothing will change after that, you need to do something for yourself outside of losing otherwise it may be tough to stick with it forever. I try a new hairstyle, or get some highlights. My mom never wore makeup so I didn't have anyone to teach me how to do it when I was younger. In HS I went to the mall and had one of the clinique girls give me a mini-makeover and show me how makeup works on my face.

I've found that a simple mani or pedi can spike my self esteem for a whole week lol. The key is doing something for yourself and knowing your worth it.
