i picked mine as it is within the healthy weight range for my height. I dont think i have ever been that small though so it'll take alot of work.

When I first started I was going to make my goal weight 150, based on a friends weight. We were close to the same height, and she looked great at 150. However, when I actualy buckled down to the weight loss, I discovered that 145 would be 75 lbs less than where I was, and I like the way that sounded better than losing 70 (I'm sure that doesn't make any sense). I'm sure that as I get closer to goal that it will change. I have no desire to be "skinny", not do I think that my body would go for it (when is the last time you saw a skinny Italian?). I would be completely happy to be a 6-8, and as I'm a 12-14 now at 180, I don't know that I'll really need to get as low as my goal, but I don't plan to revise it at this point.

my goal right now I made 125 so I wouldn't overwhelm myself lol and that is the weight that I would want to weigh maximum ... Like I'd be "happy" not miserable and disgusted with my body like I am now ..

my over all long term goal would be to get a little bit bigger then pre-preggers ... I was 94lbs when I got pregnant with my son ( I know to low) .. I'd like to be 100-105 .....

( I know everyone will say thats to low and blah blah ) but that is natural for me trust me I am short with a small frame. 115lbs makes me look a bit chubby hehe)

basically my deciding factor was the 3-4 large bins of clothes I have upstairs that were before my son was born .. and I realllllly want to wear them again because A. they are cute! and B. I don't have money to buy cute clothes anymore with 2 kids LOL

I'm currently the thinnest I've been in 12 or more years. My current goal is just below 'obese' so still overweight. However having never been of 'normal' weight in my entire adult life, I don't think a goal within the 'normal' range is really for me. If I couldn't maintain that as an active 17 year old, I'm not going to be able to as forty-something. I also worry about looking scrawny at lower weights as even at the weight I am now I have a bony upper body.

So I may re-evaluate my goal when I get there and drop it another 15 or so but I really can't see me getting below 155.

My goal weight is 130 because that was my high school weight before I started birth control and filled up like a balloon. I was really happy with my weight then. If I get there and want to lose another 5 pounds, I will, but I'm really curvy so I wouldn't want to go below 125 - that seems insane to me. Also I really don't want to lose my D-breasts!

i choose the weight (ultimately) of 140, because it is the lowest weight that i'm even comfortable thinking about being.

My weight skyrocketed as a child. So far the least heavy I can remember myself is 100 kg (220 lbs) and my pictures of that time are not perfect but I like how I look. At first I though I should stop at 80 kg (176 lbs) but it is still overweight and so I though to change my final goal to 66 kg (145 lbs) and make 90 kg (198 lbs) my mini-goal.

I must admit though that there is a level of thinness I don't like (oh and I don't mean overly skinny, it might be normal) so I guess that if I reach a normal bmi and I am happy on the way I look even if it is before 66 kg I will stop.

The first time I decided to lose weight, I basically picked a number (120) just because it sounded nice, lol. I could remember being 120 when I was 13 years old, and felt chubby back then, but for an adult it seemed appropriate.

When I got down to 120, I still felt like I could be healthier if I lost more. Maybe down to 105. (Instead, I re-gained most of the weight. Blah.)

This time around, I'm doing a lot more strength training and have a lot more muscle, so I don't really know what weight would be best. So, I picked 115, which would be my lowest adult weight. But I'll keep re-evaluating as I go. As it is, I don't have a scale right now since mine broke and I don't have gym access until the end of August, so I'm not terribly worried about my goal weight.

Well..

My short term goal is 215..but I plan to go to 190. I'm a tall girl with a large frame so I don't think it'd look good to go to the recommended 175. I mean my smallest I've ever been was 210 at my current height and I was 13/14. I know that with my hips I'll never be smaller than a 9 so..also, I still want to have some curves left. :)

Slim81 07-05-2008 12:19 AM

My goal weight is 115 because that is the weight when I felt the best. I want it back ;-(

I'm 5'7", and my goal weight is actually 190. I have... a lot of muscle (noticeable when I actually weigh 190), and I love my curves to death. When I'm eating right and exercising regularly, 190 looks damned hot on me. :P To me it's not about skinny, it's about happy and fit.

blondebombshell 07-07-2008 01:46 PM

I'm 5'8" and I dont have a FIRM goal either. The least I've ever remembered weighing was 157 when I was fifteen. I remember being so happy and really beginning to LOVE my body (I had a big weightloss from age 14-15). I remember thinking "Man, I am a comfortable size ten! What!? That is amazing." I even managed to squeeze shut a pair of size 8 jeans, granted, I laid down, held my breath and it didnt look pretty. But I remember thinking "I'm almost there, I'm ALMOST out of the double digits!"

So, all in all, I want to be a small/comfortable size eight. So I would guess, based on my smallest remember weight.. it would put me in 145-140 range.

I want to look healthy. Not necessarily toned (I personally dislike defined muscles on women (ie Madonna';s man arms, eww!))

My goal weight = HAPPY.

The number I've wanted seems to change but I think I'd like to be around 170/160. I was about 175 in high school and looking back I think I looked pretty good. I was on the swim team then so I was exercising every day and was a size 12. I think as far as my body shape goes it seems that's about where it's happy when I'm doing things right. Smaller would be good but if I'm healthy I'm happy.

I believe this all depends on how you are built, your height, how you preceive yourself to look. I myself am a large frame lady. I couldn't weigh 120lbs unless you removed bone and muscle, there is quite a bit of that. Before my son was born I was 193 with a flat stomach and legs that didnt end ya know? I wasn't completely toned but I looked fabulous.

I based my goal at 175 because I want to exceed that, I want to be better than what I was. I know that this is the very line of what the charts say is obese for my height but I would have to lose muscle mass to realistically be any smaller. I think at this weight,

I will be healthy inside and out.

I'm not sure what chart you're using, but the BMI chart (just as an example), for 5'9" has normal at about 162 or less, overweight 169-196, and obese at 203.
