  • Quote: Definitely a pear here!

I carry little weight on my upper body and I tend to lose it there first as well...my collar bones are always protruding and at the moment you can see the points of my shoulder blades at the top and the top chest bones slightly and the muscles in my chest/arms/back are always defined.

I have wide hips...always have! and a little waist...the ratio has always stayed roughly the same. When I was 80kgs (176 pounds) I was 41" hips with 29" waist and at 138 pounds (currently) I'm 37" hips with 25" waist. Same proportions!
I'd love those proportions. My waist is about 29-30 now.
  • I'm very much a pear. You know how they have those chunky yellow models of fat like this? I feel like my butt is just a bunch of those five-pounders. Unfortunately, the twenty-five I've lost has come mostly from my upper body.
  • pear! i lose first in my waist (high waist right under boobs) last in my thighs.

i also have a turkey chin lol always.

the only luck i had was when i did pilates 2 times a week religisouly for 6 months. i think it reshaped by love handles a bit
  • I am an apple. I'm not sure what I'll be when I lose all the weight. I have always been top heavy, I wear a 36 DD. But I have no butt, not really any hips either.
  • I'm definitely pear-shaped, and I guess it's alright. Even if it does mean different sizes for my upper and lower body... although, right now, I've gained so much weight I feel more like a watermelon: round all over.
  • I always used to be a belly-heavy person--- mostly upper body weight... Until this last 50 pounds... seems to have landed SQUARELY on my butt... I never was a "butt" fat girl... but now I am. Sheesh...
  • mos def a pear
  • well i dont think u ever really change your body shape, because unless u get down to a size zero, your always gonna have a slightly bigger part of u. so im a pear, when i put on weight i just got fatter though, and that depressed me.
i put weight on my tummy, neck, face, arms, back, and legs and butt. i always had a reasonalby upper body and a rubbish lower, but i was just rubbish all over.
first to go was face, neck and arms. really obvious weight i think. which was good for self esteem. then slowly tum, with a bit of fitness help, then slowely by lower body slimmed out. that was harder though. and still is. im still not happy. i always said a size 14 ( i think its a US 10) on my butt and legs would make me happy, and im about 14 on top, so i have to keep going as im still a 16 on my butt.
but as i say, even after nearly 60lbs, my shape is still the same....unfortunetly lol
  • I'm definitely a pear... even at my skinniest, I've always had a big (for my size) butt, and even now, at my HW, my face, neck, and boobs are those of a thin person. What bothers me most, though, is that I always used to take pride in my nice, flat stomach, and over the years I've watched it balloon until now I look like one of those inflatable clowns that jump back up when you punch them... you know what I'm talking about? Like a very, very big bowling pin!
  • I'm not sure why I feel compelled to add this, I just came across this image, and clearly it's completely fitting....

...I think I'm getting more like an apple the bigger I get. Once I pass 150 lbs, I start packing on the weight in the upper tummy area, where it used to just be in my thighs and love handles...
  • Here is a link to the Trinny and Susannah site.

(they are the Uk's wayne and stacey from what not to wear)

    Trinny And Susannah

They think there are more shapes than just apple and pear, but for me at least, I'm having trouble figuring out what shape I am...
  • Oh, dude, I'm totally a "Cello" if we're gonna expand past apple/pear.

Except my boobs aren't like.. HUGE, they're just a decent size. And my butt is big in terms of WIDE, but not big in terms of ROUND.
  • I think I'm somewhere between an apple and a vase. I've got a bit of a butt, but my legs are relatively slim.
  • Definitely an apple -- gain weight in the stomach, have pretty much no hips/butt. Plus I've got the big boobs and looovvvely double chin to go along with it. Sometimes I wish I could be a pear so I could at least have the skinny-looking face to go along with it!!
  • I don't feel like a pear or an apple. I prefer to think of myself as Betty Boop shaped, which I think will work when I lose weight, but looks half ridiculous sometimes now. Things that emphasize my waist make my hips and boobs look like.. I have a corset on or something. Plus I think I tend to gain weight "depth" wise, versus "width" wise. From the front I look one size, and then I turn to the side and you see where all my "thickness" is. (Helloooo, back fat!)
