Thumbs up Doing this alone

I have to lose 95 lbs. I'm sick and tired of people looking at me like I'm some kind of creepy because I'm overweight. I have to do it alone because my family, and sometimes friends put me down saying "oh you won't be able to do it". I've tried so many times, and given up every single time because they always say it, and I listen to it. Well, I'm sick of it. This year, I'm doing it for me, and only me. I'm not going to listen what my family says... I need some help, and kind words, and perhaps some useful tips! 95 lbs isn't that much right?? It's only a number. Let's do this.

Wow, it takes guts and strength to shrug off all the negative talk you've been hearing. Good for you for listening to yourself and your body, and not a group of people who clearly do not have your best interests at heart!
Please keep posting, you will receive so much positivity and cheerleading here.
Are you using a specific plan? Have you seen the January challenge on this board, or the other challenges on the Chicks up for a Challenge board? I find the challenges really motivating, don't know if that works for you but check it out!

Welcome! Good for you deciding you need to do it for yourself. Losing weight to make anybody other than yourself happy is just crazy, and usually doesn't work out so well. I'm sorry you have to face such negativity at home, from the people who ought to support you unconditionally. We are here, though, and coming here is a big step in the right direction The people here are full of wisdom and inspiration and will support you on your journey.

95 is totally doable! I have about 70 to lose so I'm right there with ya. Do you have a plan of attack? If you haven't decided on a method yet there are individual forums here with tons of diet-specific information to help you choose.

Good luck, hope to see you around

I was going to do slimfast, try that for a month, then if that didn't work - go on jenny craig, and keep working out at the gym. However Jenny Craig is very expensive, but I know it works.

Aww, I'm sorry about all the negativity, but when they all want to tell you how good you look, you can sit back and go "Yeah? Remember how I couldn't do it? Eat your heart out" :P.

If 95 pounds sounds too overwhelming try losing 1o pounds at a time, you will be surprised how quickly it will add up to your goal of 95 pounds. You can do it.Don't let people discourage you.

I started just a pound away from where you are right now, and I can say that our goal is totally do-able. There are people here who have lost even more than 95 pounds. I'm sorry you get such negativity from the people in your life. Don't listen to them and don't let them make you quit. You can do this and show them all that they were wrong about you.

If you ever want to talk or vent, I'm available by PM or e-mail.

I'm also doing it alone, I have very little support from my husband because I've tried soo many times so he has a hard time believing that I can actually do it this time but I'll show him lol. I have 150+ pounds to lose and its quite overwhelming to look at but I know that I can do it and so can you with 95 lbs. Good luck to you!

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!! You have all of us here at 3fc to help and support you. You will be surprised because shortly into your time here, you will find that you will be helping and supporting others! It will be a tough, fun, exciting, stressful journey...but our health is the bottom line.

I have lost 43.5lbs. in less than 15 weeks! Amazing right? You can too! Eat healthy, read up on all the boards regarding diet AND exercise. Do what you can to make yourself better. If you cannot jump in full force, do it one step at a time.

Good luck and hope to see you around A LOT!

to 3fc and 20 somethings! We're pretty close in height and starting weight....I had about 100 to lose. It seems daunting, but like someone else said think of it in smaller amounts. It's something you can totally do! If I (the queen of procrastination as far a weight loss goes) can do it you can. I've had a few set backs happen....they suck, but it's OK. Anyhow by coming here, you've taken the first step. There are many awesome people with so much wisdom to share

Red face

I know what you mean, I am a firm believer in "sabatoging friends" my future mother in law and me and my bf's brother's girlfriend (if that makes sense) are doing a weight loss challenge between the 3 of us... well my f-m-i-l called me on Friday and wanted me and my bf to come over saturday night for a big Italian meal -stuffed shells bread the works... ummm helllo we are suppose to be losing weight! I know you can have things in moderation but I have not been able to overcome my weaknesses yet to trust myself to do so. I gracefully declined and am doing an hour today on the treadmill. anyway no matter how much weight you want to lose it can be done! I have 54 lbs to go and I am determined to do it! You can message me anytime you need a confidence boost or whatever! Good Luck you can do it!

Hey Canadiangirl, you're not alone. This is an awesome place to find support. Everyone here is super friendly and supportive. You'll love it. Try and take it in small steps it will seem much more achievable.

I don't know where in alberta you're from, but I'm from calgary. If you ever need to chat let me know.

You can do it. It sucks not to have support, but in the end YOU`RE the one making good decisions. YOU`RE the one effected when you don't, and YOU`RE the one who will benefit when you are successful. So, don't be too down that people don't believe in you right away. Find happiness in proving them wrong.
You can
