my work out plan in the morning
30 mins on the elliptical
30 mins on the stairmaster
30 mins on a bike
then do weights for my arms, legs, back and stomach.
10 mins on the elliptical
10 mins on the stairmaster
10 mins on the bike

then go home and eat lunch

evening workout
40 mins on the elliptical
40 mins on the stairmaster
40 mins on the bike
30 mins in the sauna

all while eating around 1500-1600 cals a day. i can only work out like that until school starts and then i'm ganna have to cut back. but i have nothing else to do so why not? any opinions or suggestions??

Hmmmmm...I am in NO way trying to be mean, but I think that is waaaaay too much excercise personally. You'd have to eat a ton of food for your body not to be completely exhausted. You don't have to kill yourself to make this work! Just remember to be kind to your body.

I think maybe you could get by with the morning excercise routine ONLY..Spread out through the day. But that is still alot.

And you have to think about what happens when you start back to school and you can't excercise that much..It might stall your weight loss if your body gets used to such a high level of activity!

It's a marathon not a sprint!

I only goto the gym 3-4 times a week, and get on the elliptical for 25-35 minutes..and that's it besides taking my dogs for a 25 minute walk some afternoons. I am losing just fine. I know eventually I will have to workout more, but I will cross that bridge when I get there.

Best of luck to you!
Mary

I agree with the others. I think that is a little too much. I think you should reconsider.

Yeah, you'll wear yourself out doing that! Way to be ambitious, though.

I agree with everyone, that's way too much. Even just your evening exercise could be exhasting after awhile. Also, when it comes to the weights for your arms, back, legs and stomach you shouldn't do those everyday. The body likes to have 48 hours of rest between spot toning. Even if, let's say, for a week you're able to do all that cardio you have listed your body will probably suddenly become so overwhelmed and exhausted, resulting in you not being able to work out for days. It also could result in you absolutely hating exercise. I'd recommend switching it up each day instead, for example:
Day one: 45-60 mins elliptical, arms and legs strength training
Day two: 45-60 mins stairmaster, abs and back strength training
Day three: 45-60 mins bike, arms/legs
Day four: 45-60 mins elliptical, abs/back
Day five: 45-60 mins stairmaster, legs/arms
Day six: 45-60 mins bike, abs/back
Day seven: 45-60 elliptical. rest day from strength training.
With this plan you could probably stick with it when you go back to school. If your body becomes so accustomed to all that exercise you currently have planned, assuming you keep doing it until school your body will put back on the weight when you cut down on it so much. Better off just keeping at a nice steady pace!

When I was 21 I weighed 226 and became addicted to exercise, spending 3 hours minimum working out each day. I managed to do so for just over a month religiously every day based on a 1500 calorie diet. Slowly I started feeling dizzy all the time, I even threw up water sometimes after i'd drink it upon finishing exercise. Then at work one day my coworker told me I looked ill and suggested I go to the doctor. I did and was told i'd have to go to ER where they had to put an IV in me to feed me nutrients. I had worked out so hard, without the consultation of a physician that I was burning just too many calories and not taking in enough. Just fyi.

Maybe instead of working out so much, pick up a new hobby? Like start riding a bike, or go hiking, or try dancing!

if you exercise that much, you'll start to hate going to the gym, and you'll feel less motivated to work out. you'll wear yourself out too, and your energy definitely won't be at it's full potential if you work out with that crazy schedule. don't spend ALL your time at the gym, you need to live your life too! hang out with friends, take a dance class, or start some kinda arts & crafts.

as for working out, i think you should try..

cardio for 30-50 minutes, 4-5 times a week.
take a nice walk after dinner, with a friend or someone.
strength training 3 times a week for 15-20 minutes.

I'd get burned out. Just do as some of the others suggested. You don't need ALL that.

Hey! Before I had a baby (2 years ago) & while on summer break, I had absolutely nothing to do...So I joined a gym...and for the first 2 days my routine was to workout morning & night...all the while, living my life..lol. Needless to say I was burned out. I indeed picked up a hobby (knitting & shopping, lol) and stuck to a routine in which I was more comfortable with. It took me a while though, to find the right amount of exercise for me, in where I could still make it through the day...As of now...I re-started the gym yesterday, and sadly, could only do 15 minutes on the bike. But like I said, find a comfortable pace and work it from there. HTH

As a teacher, I can completely relate to the feeling of endless amounts of time and nothing to fill it with. I agree with pretty much everyone else- that the plan you described is too much, and that you'll get burned out.

Someone else suggested trying a new hobby. I think thats a really good suggestion. A huge part of being healthy is having a healthy mind, so doing things for youself, that are in no way related to weight loss, is a great way to keep your mind healthy.

I work out for 30-40 minutes on the elliptical and do abs everyday. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday I work out my legs and Tuesday and Thursdays I work out my arms. Every night I take a 2-3 mile walk around town. I've lost 14 pounds since Father's Day while eating 1600 calories a day.

i dont know why i get into these moods of needing to lose all the weight at once. when i do that i only gain more weight. i know this but i still do it. i know working out in the gym 6 hours a day is completely crazy but i dont know how to stop thinking like that. oh well i have 1 more week where i have no control over food (going to the grandparents for a b-day, mom coming to town, and relatives coming to town) and none make healthy stuff and consider it an insult to bring something else for yourself (livin in a purely texas/southern household is great isnt it?). next thursday i'm back here for good and i'm going to start working out and making healthy food. i'm going to try and be as healthy as possible when i go home. anyways thank you to everyone that replied. ive come out of my obsessive compulsive state!!!

OMG I can sooo relate. I listen to my grandma tell me she's worried about my weight, and then she pulls out the fried chicken and chocolate cake...which I am expected to eat several helpings of or atleast take some home with me LOL.
