Default Starting the week right...

Last week I pretty much "took a break" from weight loss. I came down with a nasty cold, couldn't exercise, ate strange food to compensate for feeling crappy, and drank too much at the end of the week with my boyfriend. Somehow I managed to stay even at 166 which is a good thing. But with a 5K and beach days coming up, I need to get back into gear. This week I am going to

Run every morning
Start lifting weights again
Start keeping my food journal again
Only drink alcohol Thursday night when out with friends

Who else has goals for the week?

Being sick sucks when you're trying to lose weight...it's like everything goes out the window for me, because I dont care about anything but feeling better. Good for you for getting right back on track.

My goal for right now is to not get discouraged because of AF rearing her head soon. I always gain anywhere from 3-6 pounds when she's on the way in water weight. So, my goals:
Do not overeat, especially bad things like cookies. If I feel the need to snack, grab a bowl of shredded wheat or oatmeal.
Drink lots of water or hot tea to offset the water gain
Excercise, no matter how crappy I feel

-Stick to my workout schedule for the week.
-Continue drinking enough water and getting enough sleep.
-Park further away so I have a longer walk to my classes.
-No binge episodes for the week.
-Don't step on the scale until Sunday morning for my official weekly weigh in.

Being sick actually is neither good or bad for my weight-loss efforts; true, I may not be able to move around as much, but when I get sick, I mostly drink brothy soups and eat steamed veggies, so a much lower calorie intake than normal.

Nonetheless, glad you're recovering and getting back into the grind of things. Hope all goes well with your plan!

Being sick always throws everything for a loop, weight loss and otherwise. Glad you're feeling better and good luck this week! Seems like you're already off to a good start.

Good luck this week...Being sick sucks when you want to exercise. But sounds like everything is starting off well for you..so this should be a good week for you

Ugh! I think I have broken every goal for the entire week!

Run every morning I skipped this morning because I got back super late from a banquet and needed the extra sleep
Start lifting weights again I skipped out yesterday, but I really want to do it tonight
Start keeping my food journal again Yesterday I didn't record and I went way over, picking a greasy lunch out with friends over a healthy salad
Only drink alcohol Thursday night when out with friends And Tuesday night, and Wednesday night...

It is tough but I'm trying to remember not to throw out the baby with the bath water and keep trying to eat right, if only to sustain.

On the highly rare occasion that I am sick, I always lose weight. When I'm sick, I don't feel like eating... if I have a cold, my taste buds won't be all there. If my throat hurts, I don't want to swallow. If I have a stomach bug, I won't want to eat for obvious reasons. I have absolutely no appetite while ill, and will eat a little bit of soup sometimes, just to make myself feel better.

I haven't been sick in almost two years. Where's the illness when I need it to help me lose weight?! JUST KIDDING!

And Romeos Girly, it can be SO easy to fall out of the healthy loop. Weight loss takes an extent of willpower that many people underestimate.

i think i haven't been doing so well lately, i thought i had lost 2 lbs, but i weighed in earlier this week, and i had only lost one. maybe i'm eating too much? not sure. i think my problem is that i eat more food or snack when i'm bored..or just craving something. so for me..


-exercise for 20 minutes every morning
-exercise for 30 minutes after work, weights afterwards
-eat when i'm hungry, not snack when i'm bored. (stop and think if i really do want to eat that..)
-eat cereal every morning for breakfast, with a piece of fruit (except on saturdays (but eat someting healthy), my mom and i go to this restaurant for really good breakfast)
