when do you weigh
I was wondering how often you ladies weigh yourselves.... once a day, once a week, once a month? If you weigh yourself everyday do you notice alot of fluctuations? I'm the type of person to at least weigh myself once a day. I get discourged though sometimes cause my weight is always fluctuating... up and down.:goodscale

I weigh once a day the same way every day. Right after I get out of bed and go to the bathroom, no clothing, and my weight rarely fluctuates. When I weigh at different times of the day my weight can fluctuate up to 5 pounds!

I also weigh first thing in the morning, naked, after a trip to the bathroom. And my weight flucuates like crazy, but the general trend for my weight is heading down, so that's OK.

I "unofficially" weight myself every day (actually normally twice a day). Once in the morning right after I get up with my clothing on, then normally (no always) I weigh myself in the evening right before I go to bed. I generally will flucuate up to 5 pounds during the course of a day.
I officially weight myself every Saturday morning, first thing in the morning, after the bathroom, naked. This is the only time I chage my fitday results and my ticker here. |
Same for me...every morning after I go to the bathroom. It generally doesn't vary a whole lot, although too much salt and a big dinner can send it up two pounds or so, and sleeping in a long time can send it down a bit. I only take my "official" weight on Fridays, though...the daily weighings are more of a reminder to be good that day.
I find my week-to-week numbers pretty steady, but I've been amenorrheic for several years now (depo-provera). I understand that many women see smaller losses or even gains before their periods and then get a big loss afterwards from water retention. |
I've started doing it Monday, Wednesday and Friday and it seems to keep me at bay as far as weighting myself everyday.

Generally once a day, in the morning. Now I am scaleless and I'm debating whether to buy one now or to wait until the end of the summer and see how much weight has come off!

I will admit that I am obsessed with weighing myself....
I weigh myself usually 3 times a day, but every now and then I'll step on the scale just to see where I am during the day. I always weight myself in the morning after I go to the bathroom, and I like to weigh myself right after the gym, because I tend to weigh lowest then (though I have heard a lot of people weigh more because of water retention, that doesn't seem to be true for me), and I weigh myself right before I get into bed just to see where I'm at for the day. I know that my weight will go up quite a few lbs by the end of the day, so it doesn't freak me out to see that. My official weigh in day, when I measure and all that too, is Thursday... but if I see a lower number in the mornings I will sometimes update my ticker & info just because I really like that number! Today my dad asked me how come I weigh myself so much, and my answer was simple: the way I gained so much weight was not having a scale, not keeping myself in check, and thinking "oh I'm probably about the same weight today" for many many months or overeating. So for me, the scale keeps me in check. Now I'll shut up, lol. |
I weigh myself too much. It's a problem.
I just get so...curious. It's one of my mail goals to only weigh myself once a week. |
I weigh every morning....but I don't really record it but once a week...since it can go up and down from day to day

I weighed once a day but the fluctuations (absolutley normal) were har on my morale, so I started weighing in once a week... and now I weigh in whenever I have the courage to look ;)

I don't even own a scale! If I did, I know I would be on it all the time.
Basically I weigh myself when I go home (I'm in college), so that's about once a month. I think that's a good thing because then I don't have all the problems with daily fluxuations, and can get a much better idea of overall progress. Also, it's much nicer to have those "Oh wow, I lost 5 pounds!" moments than "Oh no, I went up .1 pound!!" ones. |

But I weigh myself frequently through the day, and usually see a fluctuation of about 3-4 lbs. Depending on how late I ate the night before, I can weigh 1-2 lbs more the next morning.. so I usually cut it off early the night before my official weigh in. |
Every day at 12:30, in my underwear. I like to see the effects that hormonal cycles & certain foods have on my body...it's interesting. :)

I weigh myself once a day, right when I wake up after I use the bathroom. I track my results on a spreadsheet. I know that may sound crazy but it allows me to keep a graph of my weight loss, and see the downward trend line. It helps me from getting too obsessive over fluctuations, because it is always heading down.

I always weigh myself in the morning after I get out of bed and make a trip to the bathroom. I do it in my PJs. Sometimes I weight myself again later in the day to see how my weight changes with what I eat and drink. I only officially record my weight once a week, though.

I only weigh in once a week. It prevents me from over-doing it with exercise, mostly.. seeing a slight gain over a short period of time can convince me I've gone off the deep end and need to go crazy with the cardio. :dizzy:

I weigh myself first thing in the morning every day and it does fluctuate, with a downward trend. My scale also calculates my body fat percentage, which is more consistent and also has a downward trend.

Thanks for all the responses:) I have an old scale so that may have to do with some of the fluctuations.... sometimes I'll step on the scale three times in a row and get different numbers lol, not by much, but like half a pound or so

I usually weigh myself once a week, same time each week, naked, after I've gotten out of bed and made my pit stop in the loo. Though I do have those moments when I really want to see where I'm at. LOL

I weigh myself every morning; after using the bathroom and in only my underwear. My weight doesn't seem to really fluctuate day to day, except when it goes down. I record my new weight when I've seen the same number on the scale two days in a row.

I've been weighing myself daily, every morning. I'm going to back it off (if I can stand the suspense) to once a week. I get too down on myself when I see the numbers go up and want to eat naughty things. Another question to add to this thread...want kind of scale do you guys use? mine's digital and I can lose 3 pounds in 10 second then gain it back with interest in another 10 seconds. I'm wondering if I'd be better off with a regular scale than digital...? |
Once a week, usually on Friday or Saturday morning. The usual 'butt-naked + after having peed' thing. I've wanted to weight every morning for a month or two out of curiosity, to record normal fluctuations and check if I bloat right before TOM, but, uhm, I admit I keep on forgetting. (I'm not that obsessed by the scale. Which is probably why it's easy for me to regain weight, since I can go for a long time without weighing and therefore doesn't pay enough attention to the little gains to nip in the bud. Grr.)

every friday... thought sometimes.. I get on it during the week.. I go once a week.. because i know i've defeinitly lose soemthing during once whole week... :D |

yup im right there with you all...I "unoffically" wieght myself everyday in the morning and usually in the evening too..."officially" on monday mornings I record the numbers....now I dont feel so obsessive seeing that im not the only one that does it...lol..not sure if its a good or bad thing...I tend to fluctuate between 2-6 lbs...wich discourages me or motivates me...depends on my mood...argh..im a slave to the scale!

I try to weigh my self daily... in the AM after the bathroom. It keeps me in check. And if it fluctuates too high up, it keeps me from cheating on my diet. My weight can fluctate between 2-4 lbs a DAY. I usually drop 1-2 lbs a day. Sometimes if I don't lose anything one day, I'll drop double the next! I'm on the 6 week body makeover by the way..... That's why the poundage is so dramatic... I'm not sure how much is water weight, but it's encouraging to see the numbers go down.
I notice I tend to avoid the scale when I am not sticking to my diet or if I pigged out the day before. Then it get's out of hand. So if I weigh myself frequently, it's on my mind and I think about that number on the scale when I walk past those doughnuts in the office!! |
i weigh myself once a week and once in awhile sometime in the middle of the week but i use the Saturday morning weight.

I weigh myself just about every morning right after I get up and before I get in the shower, stark naked :lol: The weight does fluctuate, but I expect it to depending on what I ate the day before, what TOM it is, etc. I don't COUNT my weight until Monday night at 7pm when I don my "Weight Watchers Uniform" (try to wear the same thing every week!) and go into the meeting for weigh-in.

I try very hard to only weigh myself once a week. The daily fluctuations can be either really really uplifting, or really really discouraging. If I find myself tempted to eat something I shouldn't during the week, sometimes I will use an unrecorded weigh-in for motivation. If the number is a little smaller, I am encouraged to keep the number down......if the number is a little higher, the idea of eating more pretty much grosses me out.

I weigh myself everyday. I don't let the fluctuations discourage me though because my "REAL" weigh-in day is usually on Sunday. So that is the day that I "value" the most. :) The other days are just me being curious!

once a day, every morning, in the nude, after using the restroom.
my weight flucuates all the time depending on what i ate the day before. for instance, when i eat beef the scale can go up about 3lbs. i know i have not gained 3lbs but that's what the scale says. after about 2 days of eating right it will go back down to my true weight, which right now is 188. i'm not really addicted but i use it as a challenge. like i'm trying to see 187 this week so i'm going to work extra hard. i take it 1lb at time. |
I weigh twice a week - Monday is my official day, and Thursday is my day just for curiosity. Always in the morning, nude, after using the bathroom.
I used to weigh every day, but I would freak out over the fluctuations. I've been doing like this for months, and it works quite well for me. :) |
I used to weigh myself everyday, CONSTANTLY. And yeah, it fluctuated A LOT, so I finally just started weighing myself every Saturday.

My friend and I do an official weigh-in everyother Sunday. I un-officially weigh myself in almost every day.
