Default Exercise Music

Hi All,
My usual exercise is my treadmill. I've just started a running program after walking for almost 2 months (I just read this as someone's NSV and it kind of got me thinking).

I still don't like to exercise but I find the time goes faster and I enjoy it somewhat more if I have good music to exercise to. Well last night my stereo system went on the fritz and I had to dig out the little one and put my cd in there. The first song was "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen and it was on repeat. I didn't want to get off the treadmill so I just kept listening to that song over and over. Before I realized it, I had run over 2kms without stopping. I know I never would have been able to do that without the music and it's such a motivating song.

Does anyone else have a song that they can listen to over and over for motivation? I need to increase my playlist because even the most motivating songs can get a little boring after a while.

If there's anyone else out there that can't go without the music, here are a couple more of my favourites.

1. A Little Less Conversation - Elvis Presley
2. Footloose - Kenny Loggins
3. 1985 - Bowling For Soup
4. You Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC
5. Mrs. Robinson - Simon & Garfunkel

While exercising, I like to listen to music with a fast tempo, so punk is perfect for me! I've been listening to Green Day's albums "American Idiot" or the classic, "DOOKIE", pretty much every work out and I'm still not tired of them. I also am lovin' the "AMP Street Punk: Volume 2" CD, a bunch of great songs on it! Fav bands on the compilation: Anti-Flag and Dropkick Murpheys. Of course, I gotta to listen to The Misfits too. Occasionally I listen to Evanescence's CD "Fallen" and the faster tempo songs by They Might Be Giants.
Been meaning to burn myself a CD of my favorite work out tunes..one of these days. LOL

Here's an oldie that has recently been revived on TV, INXS---Suicide Blonde. It works great for me on the rebounder, the first 6 tracks on the CD cover about 20 good mins. of my workout and I can consistently keep my HR up.

Here's a few that I like
Outkast - Hey Ya - Gets me moving
Chumbawamba - Tubthumping - When I've had a gain I workout to this
Reel To Reel - I Like To Move It - Hoping this song will change my thoughts on working out.
Black Eyed Peas - Let's Get It Started - Kicks me in the behind! (which I need right now haven't done my workout today!!)
Eminem - Just Lose It - The beat goes with the steps of my workout
Sublime - 02 - What I Got - Another good beat
I also use Jock Jams Albums. Lots to stuff to move to.
I have more but I really should get my bums a moving. I missed out yesterday...

I wouldn't be able to survive the elliptical (much less GET ON IT) without Robbie Williams' "Live at Knebworth" album. The man is SOOO hyper, you can't HELP but get goin' yourself! I switch it up sometimes with Bon Jovi or a Motown mix. But since Robbie's gotten me THIS far, I ain't quittin' on him now.

There's some seriously great musical taste in this thread!

I will second, third, and fourth what's already been said about Green Day. I fell in love with their Kerplunk! album (anyone else remember that? it was right before Dookie), and found even then that treadmill or not...they're just great moving music. Dancing in my living room counts as exercise, right?

Anyway, I think I said this in another thread once upon a time, but I highly recommend their International Superhits CD (it's like a greatest hits thing). The pacing and order of the songs kicks *** for the treadmill, as they build and build, then slow down, then build again. Great for varying your speed throughout a workout. In fact, Green Day's one of the only things that can get me ON the treadmill,

Violent Femmes, Outkast, and any kind of ska work well too (the Specials and even Sublime come immediately to mind).

More, more please! I love new workout music ideas.

(And oh, I thought I was the only person in the world who not only remembered, but is ridiculously in love with Possum Kingdom. I have it on like 37 mix CDs I've made.)

Aerosmith is good, too. Unless you don't like hard rock.

When I used to go to the gym and use the cardio machines there (before falling off the wagon in 2003) I used to listen to Britney Spears...lol. Hey, I was only 21. My favorite CD to get up and dance to now is the new Black Eyed Peas one called Monkey Business. I haven't got tired of them yet.
