That's cool I'm glad you have your plan set up. I just think that we are meant to enjoy all the food groups. If it were just carbs that were causing people to have weight gain there would be a lot more fat people. I just think what we all have learned early on with the food groups is good stuff. We just need to eat in moderation. It sounds like you are doing more of that than just a low carb diet. I talked with my doctor about the atkins diet and she agrees with me that it is not going to be a real healthy diet to stay on the rest of my life. I have nothing against it though if that is what you want to use to take off the weight. Any thing that gets the weight off is great. I just have reservations about staying on that type of diet for life. It sounds like your plan differs from atkins though so my best to you.

I don't know much about Atkins so I can't say how dr.phil's plan is similar or different. My general understand of Atkins is that you eat a lot of protein and with this plan you only eat 3 normal servings of protein, 1 with each meal, 1 high fiber carb with breakfast or lunch, 2 low fat dairy servings, 2 fruit servings, 4 non starchy veg servings and as much raw veggies as you want. This is the Rapid Start Plan and after that you add another carb/day and what is after that I don't know yet. Just for me I know there is no room in there for me to be eating junk food. I still have my treats as I said earlier but that is going to be more rare from now on. Honestly I have to say that I have tried losing weight in the method you are doing, counting calories and it didn't really matter what I ate as long as I didn't go over my calories but I just couldn't make it work. I just can't eat some stuff in moderation. It just can't be 1 cookie or a couple of chips. I go into it thinking that I can eat 1 cookie then all of a sudden it is 6 cookies instead. I guess you need more willpower for that then what I have, for me it has to be all or nothing generally.

This is true and I may have to rethink my plan. Right now I don't see not having things I enjoy. But I have had the problems your talking about with not stoping at one. However I do limit those types of foods to once a week and that still works out pretty good.
