Today I had an appointment with the doctor, which included some lab work. As usual, I just sighed and waited, expecting him to fuss around with finding my veins. I used to give blood regularly, so I know they have a TERRIBLE time getting a good tap.

But when I made a fist, he found it right away! He said he wished everbody came in with such a good vein when he had to take blood. I couldn't believe it. I haven't lost enough weight yet to make it that much easier. But as I was talking to him, it came out that the weight lifting I've been doing is probably what's made the difference. I lift as heavy as I can (I've worked up to 20 pounds on arm curls and bent-over rows). I hadn't realized it would change how easy my veins were to find.

Talk about a strange non-scale-victory! /chuckle

I don't know if I will ever get there, they destroyed my veins when I was the hospital when I was a kid. Spending a month plus with an IV that they changed out 1-2X a day because the veins kept collapsing. Now I have scars on the tops of my hands where they will poke me with Baby IV's to keep the veins from collapsing even when they take blood.
