suzukigurl: Your post was so vivid and descriptive that it gave me chills! How frightening. I'm so glad you are alright and that your home sustained minimal damage. I'm from the Midwest so I know these types of storms all too well. Adding my prayers and good wishes.
gulfmagnolia: One of the best experiences I've had in the gym has been with a personal trainer. That sounds kind of weird doesn't it I had a similar goal to lift heavy and wow, did he help me achieve it! My first set of sessions were at a discount due to a New Year's special and then I think I paid for 10-12 additional sessions. I really enjoyed it. You've received some good advice about finding a trainer and using equipment. I'm proud of you for wanting to take the leap!

Weight was up a bit today and it's probably related to getting only three hours of sleep last night and indulging in too much ice cream. I'm reading a book with a decent story and before I knew it it was after midnight. When I finally shut off the light I couldn't immediately fall asleep. Of course once I did, it seemed like I had only been asleep a few minutes before my alarm went off.
Sazukigirl, I tried to post a few times this morning, but the website wouldn't cooperate. I'm glad your safe. I'm sorry about the damage to your electronics. Will insurance cover it?
Happy Friday!! This has been a great week so far! I'm back on plan and losing steadily. My run training is in a good groove (I'm up to 3 minute running intervals). The only down side is the ridiculous heat that prevents outside enjoyment. Many of my walks during the workday have had to be done indoors and that sucks. The heat advisory is supposed to break this afternoon with nasty weather. I just hope the weekend makes it easier to be outdoors.
This week went by so quickly but then I remembered that I was still on vacation on Monday My morning kicked off with a four hour supevisor's planning meeting that will remain in place for the remainder of the summer. It's slower on campus during the summer months so we use the extra time to our advantage and plan for the upcoming academic year.
LauraRVA42011: on your intervals. I recently went back to running myself. Doesn't it make you feel so accomplished?! Glad to hear that your hot weather may break soon. We're in for 100+ days this weekend.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend

Thank you all for the well wishes I really REALLY appreciate it. I'm glad to report all the water is out of the basement and all in all things are getting back to normal. We still need to replace the 65in TV so I guess a trip to Best Buy is in our near future, I do love shopping but didn't want to have to shell out this much for a new TV just yet. Oh well like I was saying in my previous post it could have been so much worse.
The weight keeps coming off little by little, so I am very happy about that. After all the drama of the last few days I am still happy to report I have stayed on plan. Only a few thoughts of eating an entire tub of ice cream LOL but happily did not give in to the cravings. Unlike before I feel like I so much more control over food. That is a great feeling to have as food controlled me for so long. Next week it's back to the gym and the journey continues!!!!
suzukigirl what a stressful and scary situation, I'm glad to hear that at least all the water is out of the basement now. Despite all of this you stayed on plan and have now lost 10 pounds this month. You are an inspiration to keep going no matter what.
LauraRVA42011 love reading about your progress
curvynotlumpy what book are you reading? I remember being so engrossed in a story and not going to bed. Hope you'll be able to catch up on sleep a bit.
As for me, after long work days, I am finally on vacation. We'll be planning out outings today. I aim to exercise and eat as healthy as possible during this time off. Have a great day everyone!
Howdy y'all!
Good to see that you are all committed and focused.
I have been on a very long vacation (1 month) and ate "vacation mode". Gained 5 lbs and I am happy I haven't gained more.
I have been back on the wagon for 2 weeks now and lost 6 total.
Best of luck to us all and may we all reach our goals!
Have a great weekend!

Martine, we are in the same range. Best of luck to you and I hope you relax and enjoy your days off.
I would love to lose 10 pounds per month. It seems way more realistic that what I have wanted and hoped for, in the past.
One step at a time, one day at a time!

Hi darlings! Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Got some much needed rain that cooled off my little part of the world, now outdoor exercise is actually bearable. Wonder how long it will last?

Another Sunday; I hope everyone is having a great day. Gulfmagnolia, I'm happy to hear that you got some rain and that you've cooled off. I wish I could say the same. Yesterday we hit 100 degrees and our low was 72. Today we're headed for a high of 106 degrees. I'm in the office getting a couple of things done and then headed home before the heat really hits.
Martine: Happy vacation time to you! Whether day trips, staying at home or getting out of town, I hope you and DH enjoy your time together and that you get some much needed and deserved rest. Regarding the book I was reading (have since completed)--the title is Modern Lovers by Emma Straub. I would definitely categorize it as an easy beach read. It's not complex. The ending was contrived and I found myself wanting more substance. It was okay, decent. I'll be passing it along. I love to read but over the last few years my voracious reading habit has cooled significantly, mostly due to work demands. I'm slowly getting back into it and picked up a couple of books at the beginning of my vacation to read. My next book is Behold the Dreamers.
futurehealthyme: Glad to see you're back on track. Every time I go on vacation I wish I was one of those people who could keep my eating in check. Actually, I could be, I just don't. It's not like I gorge myself, but I end up indulging too often. I think I managed self-control once in my life on vacation but it was during the time I was losing weight on a consistent basis and was in "the zone" of weight loss. I didn't want to blow it.

gulfmagnolia looks like that humidity is headed our way. Being outside is such a joy during the Summer, glad you can finally exercise outside again.
futurehealthyme nice to see you again. I'm doing my best to keep my weight in check during my vacation. Though you wouldn't know it from the ice cream cone I ate yesterday, but then again I was stuffed for the rest of the day. You sure got rid of that vacation weight fast, great job!
curvynotlumpy those temperatures are crazy! Stay cool.
So yesterday I managed a 50-minute walk and more walking later in the day when we went to a nearby town to look at sailboats. And my tendon is not that bad this morning, progress! I won't push my luck and will rest some today, before we go to Ottawa to walk by the Rideau canal tomorrow. Wishing everyone a wonderful day!
Not much to report so wishing everyone a great Monday and start to their week.
Martine: Sounds like you had a very successful walking outing! I'm happy that your tendon is feeling alright. Hopefully, being cautious will allow you to strategically out and about without much trouble. Keeping you in my thoughts and my
back, momtopands! Make yourself at home. You'll find all kinds of support on this thread!
The daily weigh ins were starting to mess with my mind. I popped up 2 pounds for no apparent reason, so I didn't weigh in for a few days. The weekend wasn't the best for me, but I didn't go up any more. We went to see Tears for Fears and Hall and Oates Saturday night. It was a lot of fun, and we walked home from the venue about two miles from our house. Boy did my feet hurt by the time we got home. I had on the wrong shoes, and the balls of my feet hurt bad. They are still a little tender this morning. Yesterday, when I had my work shoes on, I could feel it in my calves. It felt good accomplishing that little milestone. I need to walk more. So for this week, I baked some chicken thighs last night for meals this week. It's just my son and I until Thursday or Friday, so we are having taco meat tonight. I've been making burrito bowls lately for a change from meat and a veggie. So, I'll probably do that tonight and let him do tacos or burritos. I have some pre-made mixed salads from the store that I can throw together for lunches. Maybe I'll be daring and put on the correct shoes and walk some after work. We do have two work celebrations Thursday, one employee is leaving us and taking another position with a different department, so we are taking her to lunch, and it is also another employee's birthday, and I'm in charge of bringing in breakfast for us. At least I can control what options I have. Happy Tuesday everyone.
Curvynotlumpy, a four hour meeting. Sounds like fun....not.
Sazukigirlcongratulations on not letting the stress get to you.
Laura sounds like the running is coming along nicely, Great work.
