Someone said to me once: "If you want to change your life, you have to change your life."

That said more to me than any paragraph I could type.

I am an all or nothing person too, but 4 weeks into my journey, I am learning that something is better than nothing. If the scale didn't move in a week, it's not the end of the world. As long as I keep a positive mindset... work in process. I will keep trying.

Best of luck to you. You are strong enough to take control of your life and change whatever isn't working for you! Tell yourself that and believe it--it's true!!! I SO relate to what you said about feeling down at the end of the day, vowing to change the next day, only to feel the same way day after day. You've gotten good advice here--small changes every day add up. Make a plan. I have found that planning is everything. You can't get to your destination without a roadmap or route to take you there. You will do this!

4 weeks in is an amazing accomplishment!! And just remember, if the scale doesn't reward you it doesn't mean that it's not working.

I have had weeks that the scale didn't recognize any of my hard work in my diet and exercise but then....my clothes fit better, my exercise stamina was higher, my blood pressure was down at my doctor's office, so many things that the scale couldn't tell me!

Keep that positive mindset, it will make all the difference in the world!!

I use to say I'll diet next week...or some other 3 Tuesday...took something happening that pushed me or shocked me had to be weighed prior to procedure!

Had not weighed myself in Sooo long and was living in the Land of Denial!

So I started my journey ...
So I am an all or nothing girl!

WOOOHOOOO!!!! You already broke the cycle! You did it!! You're own your way!!!

Will you come and chat with us often? (I recommend daily)

Something that helps me is that I always think, "I don't need to be the best. I'm just trying to be better then yesterday."

It definitely can be overwhelming around here! There are so many fun and interesting threads to read plus all the daily updates and general chat threads.

I envy the people that can do personal updates in multiple threads every single day. I can do it sometimes but I get anxious other times just thinking about it. But people here understand that it's not easy for everyone to do personals.

I look forward to your posts, this is a great thread.

That is so funny that you made the change from soda to water, because that is usually the first thing I would suggest to someone wanting to make a change..start with one thing like what you drink. Too much at once is overwhelming. That is awesome that you have a buddy at home to do this with!

I have a coworker who drinks a lot of soda..I asked him how much he drank and calculated that if he switched to water he could lose 70 lbs in a year just by that one change. He had no interest though :-)

Also- I have to recommend putting an herbal tea bag in sparkling water. Awesome. Celestial Seasonings makes some wonderful all natural herbal teas.
