Alright so I made it back for one finalact tonight before bed. It was beautiful outside today so I ran the kids around the yard picking up crap off the ground.Come on spring!!IM READY! I have someflowers poking through on the flower bed, Im excited.
On the flip side - my treadmill did not move today I could use an extra 2 hours in a each day, but Id like those hours to be during my sons nap time if possible??? I had so much crap to catch up on that I just didnt have the time today, its so disappointing! BUT tomorrow Im changing things up! I will hop right on that baby as soon as the boy goes down for his nap in the morning. No matter what kind of housework needs to be done treadmill comes first!!
TiffNeedsChange- Ive been reading a lot on the calorie "tricks" and whatnots. Its been suggested that instead of lowering your intake, you up it for ONE day (with healthy stuff only) bump it up between 200-500 calories, then drop back down the day after and continuing. You should see a change on your scale.I have not gotten yet to the point where I have had to try this but Ive spoke with others that have and they say it works for them. If you lower your calories you risk your body thinking its starving for them, and instead of losing you gain. If you do try it I would like to know how it works out for you...

Well on that note I am off to bed! Gotta get up early with the kiddies and then treadmill here I come so be ready!

Made it on the treadmill! Im very proud of myself for sticking to my plan - a little discouraged that darn scale jumped numbers on me today... 262.0 BLAH! Im sitting here going over my food for the last 2 days and nothing bad... Im not even sure why the numbers went up unless its based only on the fact that I didnt walk. I guess I will not be allowed to take days off anymore!
Off to do my housework and then to the wonderful eye doctor with my son. I know a lady who 6 months ago took her 13 yr old to the eye doctors and the very next day he was having surgery for brain cancer! It was the eye doctor that caught it! the eye doctors never used to scare me - now it scares the **** out of me, especially when I take my kids...

Default Frustration

I am frustrated!

Not to the point of "giving up". Just so tired of this blasted plateau I'm on.
I'm fluctuating between 254 and 256 for 3 weeks now. I've gone out of town (twice) and managed to stay on plan, passing up all kinds of opportunities to blow it. I honestly never did.

I would think the reward would be to see that scale move. But no. It is not doing that.

I just had to vent someplace.

Now of course, the real reason for my desire to lose weight is for HEALTH, but seeing those pounds come off surely is encouraging.

Drat Drat Drat.

So want to see the 240's in MARCH.

Hey girls. Last action of the night before bed is to catch up with you all. Been very busy and life's been full. But I'm happy to find you all here. Sleep well, angels!

Feeling frustrated this morning. Trying not to let it get to me. Well, it simply won't, because falling apart and going back to the old ways isn't an option any longer. But still...grrrrrrrr!!!!!!

First the good news. I have a new doggie. A new, full grown (OMG she's huge!) labrador retriever named Daisy Mae. She's 3 and full of life and so strong! We got her from a lab rescue organization and she is so, so sweet. But big and clumsy! And we are going to go in for some training because she's strong and stubborn too. Me too, I guess.

Now, for the not so good news. I've been on track with my effort and I was actually keeping my weight down below 295 lbs for several days in a row, but I was frustrated with how slow the rate of loss was. I was also really struggling with my appetite. Really hard to keep calories low enough for me to see weight loss. So I decided to check my blood sugars again. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes years ago but have been managing with just a low carb diet and exercise. Or so I thought.

It seems my body is not dealing with blood sugar levels as well as I had thought. Especially my morning numbers. So I went to see a new endocrinologist and he put me on Metformin ER. Not really what I wanted, but he said it would help me with my hunger levels as well as my blood sugar levels. And while I've only taken it for five days, it really does help me with my hunger levels. And this morning, I started to see a slight redux in my blood sugar levels.

The problem is that I've gained weight in the last five days. Seven pounds. It's water retention. I can really feel it! I know it'll go away. But really! Why is it that every time a doctor gives me a presription, I have to gain weight from it! The Metformin made me nauseous for two days and dizzy for the last five and I haven't felt much like eating and I still gained weight!

Grrrrrrr!

Hopefully this will begin to change soon. I've read comments on other websites that some women gained weight when first starting the Metformin, but then they started to shed. Some lost a little weight, some lost a lot. I'm sure I will keep you posted!

Hope your day goes well.

I've been on/off of Metformin for more than 9 years. My OB/GYN originally put me on it after he diagnosed my PCOS/Insulin resistance when I was trying to get pregnant. I go in spurts where I take it religiously. Then I'll get a bug up my behind and convince myself I don't NEED it and quit. Since my blood sugar levels so far are fine I somehow feel justified.

When I first started I was trying to get pregnant and exercising at least 6 days a week but not doing much with my diet. I did end up losing about 30 pounds when I got pregnant. I came off of it until the kids were done nursing and started again. There seemed to be no changes at all but I also wasn't watching what I ate and I did no exercise. Repeat that part repeatedly. I've never noticed any weight gain when I start back up. Just 2 days worth of bathroom issues and then I am fine. I don't seem to crave as many sweets when I do take it though.

I have been out enjoying our wonderful early spring weather. Normal high's for this time of year are typically only 39-40 degrees. We've been in the high 60's and there was even a new record high of 80 set about 50 miles from me. I'm loving it. Sunday I walked 2.9 miles. Monday I got rained out so I spent the day shampooing carpets. Yesterday I ended up walking 5.4 miles with a few sprints when I was walking an overly energetic shelter dog. Today was 4.7 miles. I'm feeling very tired from all the activity. It is good though.

Ideally, I plan on building up to start doing some light wogging starting April 1st or so. I'm also hopeful the extra activity will encourage me to get my eating in line and hopefully get a few pounds off along the way. I would love to be back under 250 for my birthday in mid July. It's only 20 pounds and just about 4 months away. Totally doable.

scale today was 259.8!!! yay me!!! Ive FINALLY made the 250's! Im so very excited. I went to the docs today - didnt get the best news on my MRI and CT scans but Im keeping my chin up. Hes sending me off to other specialists to see what we can do to fix me up - all in all I cant complain, there are people out there far worse off than myself!
All that being said, even with all the not so wonderful news from the docs, I managed to keep on plan 100% today and even hit that trusty treadmil! Im a happy girl Im less than 10lbs from goal #1!!!!!

Default so far so good!

Today is going really well. I got up had a nice filling breakfast. Did my weigh in and i am the same as yesterday, very happy to still be seeing that "5" after the 2. I hope I can reach 250 by the end of next month and set my second goal. I havent set any more than my first goal because I know how I am and Im one of those people who want it NOW! so if I have it in my head that I want to be 140lbs, and I step on that scale and see 240lb instead of being excited to see Ive lost 30lbs I will be discouraged that Ive NOT lost another 100. So one day at a time and right now my first step is to make it to 250lbs! Im ALMOST there!!!
I took my baby to the doctors for his check up - that went well, doc says hes a healthy little man, we love to get news like that! He will NOT need surgery on his little belly because its all healed up on its own - this made my day!!
Got home, used my treadmill (I LOVE that thing) it was raining when we returned otherwise I would have been outside instead. One really awesome thing I love about having the treadmil, even though it takes up a lot of room, I can walk while Mr. O naps. Ive not yet made it over an hour on it again but instead Ive made my short walks much more work. I start off with the incline on 10, speed at about 2mph. then each minute i drop the incline .5 and up the speed .1mph. I go until the incline is down to .5 and my speed is up to 3.2mph. then I leave it there until ive been walking at least 15mins, slowly i bring my speed down until im on my last minute and at 2mph. This has worked up quite a sweat for me lol.
I set small goals with my walking too, but with my backin the shape its in at this time i really must keep it simple rather i want to or not. I hope thatonce I drop a few more lbs the back issues will ease up for me.

Default Questions Questions

I've been thinking....and that might be dangerous. But wondered if any of you have noticed the same thing.

I started at 313, and when I began this journey, I lost weight pretty steadily until I hit right around 282 and stuck there for 3 weeks. Interesting thing to note...it was right at 10% weight loss.

Then I broke that plateau after 3 weeks. That was a few months ago. Now, I stay at 255 for 3 weeks. I just did the math, and it is once again 10% of my body weight from the first 10% weight loss.

I'm doing everything right....staying on plan, exercising (some) and drinking plenty of water. But the scale doesn't budge.

I'm beginning to wonder if that at every 10% weight loss if your body just needs to get used to that weight?

I'm going to zig-zag calories for the next 5 days and see if that doesn't break this plateau. It did the last time. We shall see!

Change4Life - you are doing a great job!!!! I know you might not feel that way while youre stuck on a number, but really. AMAZING! Work those calories around slightly for a few days, go high one day and then drop down to norm for a few days, you should see a change happen. I do this every two weeks and always see between 1-3lbs change. Just make sure your added calories are good ones, you make good food choices. I also read recently to try and take a cup of warm water and a half a lemon squeezed into it every morning before you drink or eat or anything... drink this for a few weeks to a month, it helps clean out any "toxins" in your body - I asked around about this and my aunt and 2 cousins said theyve used this and have had very good results. Another option (ask your doc first) might be to do a nutritional cleansing when you reach these points, I know they are good to jump start a diet or lifestyle change, Im not sure they are generally used while already been on a plan. Something to look into. Whatever you do, no matter what other advise you take away from here - NEVER get discouraged! you have lost a huge amount of weight and you have something there to be VERY proud of! You can do it - just stick to it . Good luck hun! I look forward to your updates.

Jinxy - you too are doing AWESOME! I love following posts of people that are close to the same weight class as myself and seeing how they are doing. I totally understand your fustrations. I started off at 272.4 then lost 10lbs! I was so flipping happy!! all of a sudden with little reason my scale jumped (I should say leaped) back up and I was sitting at 272 again. I was so discouraged and clueless!! Then I got on here and read everyones stories and their fustrations, even their happy endings and realized Ive just got to keep trucking, there may not always be a reason behind what makes to numbers rise, eventually what goes up HAS to come down, especially if Im still working for it! you WILL be victorious as long as you keep trying!

As for myself - I had a great day, my little monsters were angels today! We had a nice dinner together and had a good night together, my daughter was so excited and happy for herself because she finally read a book from start to finish (she is in pre-school) She was so cute, she made me take her picture with her holding the book Had me call all the family members and then she sat in the chair with one of MY books thinking she could read a 500+ page book! I loved seeing how happy she was with herself. It made me think of my weight loss journey - Ive made it this far(a 7 page book) if I try REALLY hard - I can make it all the way (500+ pages)! You betcha! I got this!

Default Question...

Any of you ever tried "Carb Intercept"?
What was your experience with it?
