Default Sometimes it is so hard to see.

18 pounds gone. Where did they go? Where did they come from? I have been doing great and taking it day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute. But today I am certain that 18 pounds are gone but where did they come from and why do I feel like it won't even matter until 18 more are gone. Its nice how much faster the weight comes off when you are a bigger gal but very hard to wrap your mind around the fact that you can lose 18 pounds and not lose a size in clothing and look no different. Hard. Frustrating.

Rambling.

Congratulations, losing 18 pounds is awesome, I have struggled so much just to lose 5 and feel the same way. What a great job. Maybe look at it this way as it helps me, if you were to lineup 18 pounds of butter in 1 block pounds side by side it really is alot. Or try carrying a 20 pound bag of potatoes - they can seem so heavy and you are almost there!

Great Job - try to feel good about it! Don't let your mind boss you around by discourging you.

I started at 261 and it took about 25-30 lbs to see a clothing size drop. I find that 10% of my body weight seems to be when I hit a change in size, plus it also seems to be when I start to feel a change. (although that varies day by day and esp. TOM - like today, I feel so awful and bloated that I can't believe I've lost ANYTHING!)

Oh, I am very happy about it! I actually can't quit smiling...but yesterday we went for a hike and took some pictures. It was the same hike we were on about 2 months ago. I am 18 pounds less but you can't tell a difference in the pictures hardly at all. Is that a bad thing? Well, no. Just sort of surprising. humbling?
Glad to hear 10% is when I should start seeing a difference. That would be roughly 18 more pounds like my instinct said.
Thanks for the congrats! I am super happy but just sort of shocked this morning. kwim?

I hear ya... 18 pounds is a LOT but i had to lose 50 to notice a thing! Sucks, but it's true... by the same token, I could GAIN 20 lbs. back in the day and not notice either lol My favourite trick is to carry something 18 pounds around with you for a few hours, don't put it down - you'll NOTICE it for sure!

Completely understand how you feel! I've lost 33 pnds (and am now down a dress size/almost into another) and people haven't even noticed. Ugh. So much more to go I guess, but it's frustrating. Anyway, think of 18pnds and two larger newborn babies! Twins! Soon you'll be saying you lost the weight of a toddler and so on. The pounds you lose will add up quickly. I remember complaining when I had lost just 15. Someone said they couldn't wait to see me celebrate when I had lost 15 more. Well here I am 18 more pnds down! You can do it!!

For me, at 252 pounds to start, it took about 30 pounds before anyone noticed anything. That was humbling, for sure. Just keep at it and you will see the results in a big way very soon. There is a post in here somewhere about the "paper towel theory" and how you don't notice as the individual paper towels are taken off the roll until a significant number are gone, and then you notice every one as it is removed. It's like that. You're doing a great job. You know that, so just keep it up and be proud of what you've accomplished.

Start taking measurements. I couldn't tell when I lost weight at first either...so I started taking measurements. My high weight was 340...visually, I didn't notice a big difference until I was down to the 260's.
Congrats on the 18 pounds!!

I started just one pound heavier than you... honestly? It took a GOOD 50 lbs before I could tell and before I dropped a clothing size. However... I FELT better after having lost 18 pounds and I am sure that you do too!

I understand this. I lost 20 lbs and the only place I noticed it was in my face. I lost 10 more, and all of a sudden I'm 2 sizes smaller. I don't understand it, but I'm glad I finally see *some* results.

How was your endurance and mobility during the hike the second time vs. the first? I bet there is a difference...

Keep on keepin' on!

I was the same way, all of these people were talking they were down 2-4 sizes and I was still at the same size after losing 60lbs THEN I started trying on smaller clothes and they fit. I guess the clothes I was wearing were too tight and I didn't notice it and no one told me any different. I started taking monthly pics to show my progress, so every time I post I can see myself changing!
