glad you're feeling better, Sassy, and that you were able to push through. Short term goals and challenges really do help.
Cathi - thanks for the kind words. I feel like planning and goals are the key to success, too. I'm really convinced that having a personal goal for every single Wednesday kept me on track for the time it took me to lose. Now this once a month weigh-in is pretty good, but I have to admit that I "cheat" and weigh myself if I'm feeling antsy about how I've done for a couple days - especially the 2 times I was away from home for 4 or 5 days at a time. It used to be every Wednesday that counted. Now it's the first Wednesday, but I know if anything feels snug or if I feel like I messed up, my eating will change. I think that's the "intuitive" part, actually. I know my daughter weighs herself every day or several times a week, anyway, but she just adjusts to compensate for parties, etc. I think that's what we all have to do. Even when we're losing. Holding steady for a week or 2 over a vacation or holiday is a good thing, actually! It is what we need to do forever. We just have to adjust after a couple pounds if the scale goes up rather than say, "That tasted good - I'll keep doing it over and over even though I know I'll feel miserable about the gain." That's the mental place I'm trying to get to / stay in. Hope everyone has a great Thursday. Lin |
Lin thanks.. I haven't been on here for a day or two and I'm sad to say that today's weigh in I did not loose any weight. I stayed at 286. We ate way too much this week and even though I made good choices I think I just ate too much anyway. My feet are hurting again this week too and my back so I'm not sure what's up with that either. I'm going to re-evaluate my diet and try and figure out if something I'm eating is causing my feet to hurt.

Thanks! I doubt that I will make my mini-goal to get to 165lbs by New Year's Day, but as long as I am down even 1lb, it's progress!

I don't think I am going to make my 2-teen goal by Jan 1, either. I am ok with that. I am glad to be back on track losing 1 lb a week. I am proud that I can start back up without quitting.

I had my last holiday party last night. I am very proud that I made it through the past two weeks, pretty much maintaining my weight. I am a bit behind on my goals, now, but will push to catch down those 4 lbs I need to be back on track. I have been working on goals and a timeline for next year and don't want to constantly be behind on it.

Hi, everyone. Boy, it's been a tough week to get on here! I kept getting errors and messages about scripts. I double checked everything with my internet settings and couldn't (can't) figure out the problem so I downloaded Mozilla to use as my browser to see if that made a difference. It seems OK now. I was having trouble on both Explorer and Google Chrome. Anyone else have trouble?
Anyway - I'm ready to get back on plan here pretty quick. I was 163 on Wednesday (I put aside my "no scale" rule for the holidays) and that was OK. Christmas was spent out of town visiting family and I was a bit at their mercy with regard to what was available. And I caved in a bit in the treat department. And I cooked way more than I usually do for myself this week because my daughter was home. She's on her way back to NC and I miss her already! Tomorrow I am traveling about 100 miles to Cleveland to see the Transiberian Orchestra's Christmas concert. I'm going with 3 friends and we're staying ovenight. That means meals away from home for one more day. But, it's also the perfect way to get rid of all the extra holiday cookies I don't want in the house. I grew up with one of the people associated with TSO and we'll get to visit with him before the show. I'll give him a late birthday gift of COOKIES! Then it's back on plan until I get back to 160, then maintenance again. All in all, I think I did OK. We have to remember my plan of eating like a thin person and realize that thin people probably gained a few pounds over the holidays. Now they are eating right and taking care of the extra weight. We have to do the same. Of course - to all you who lost or held steady - YIPPEE! FANTASTIC JOB. Proof that it can be done! I'm glad I got the problem with the computer straightened out. The thought of only being able to access 3fc from my phone was making me sad! Happy New Year everyone. Lin |
I was having those same problems with the internet. We went with the firefox mozilla and they seem to be gone.
I, like everyone else, am recommiting my self to getting healthy. I have sat down, written down some goals and will work through them this year. I have weight goals, but I also have exercise goals and especially mental goals. I couldn't bring myself to weigh in last Friday because of my eating spree over the holidays. I wanted to give myself another week to get back on plan again and undo some damage. 224.8 again. I really need to get back on plan. I am going to start packing my daily food. I am afraid if I don't catch up on my short goals, I will never make my progressive larger goals, and will just give up on this year...
I am beating myself up today. Tonight I will go for a long walk and forgive myself. Tomorrow, I will be up early packing my bags.
