is this cheating?
Breakfast:
Oatmeal Orange 200 Clif Bar 270 ciabta roll 170 turkey (1 oz) 30 tomato/onion 10 mayo 20 mustard apple 60 whole wheat pasta 500 class of wine 100 Total for the day: 1453 cal I think that this is pretty good because I ran 6 miles today too, so I don't feel like I "cheated". I ran burn 600 calories and then I ate a good amount of food that was probably needed. On top of that, I think it's important to have a glass of wine every once in a while with friends, does this qualify as a mediterrean diet? Anyway, I guess I don't feel like this is a slip-up. Under 1500 calories is still something that I would consider good, and since I ran 6 miles, I consider this on plan, or am I just making up excuses? Here is what I plan to eat for tomorrow: Omlette with veggies 350 apple 60 Leftover pasta 350 apple 60 1/6 digornio pizza 360 salad w/ vinegarette 70 total: 1250 I guess I feel that as long as I stick between 1250-1500 I am doing good, however, for the majority of the time I want to try to get under 1200, that way, when I have days like this, I can make sure I don't go over 1500 and that I don't get fuller faster. Or is that cheating? |
end to the chaos
The night just ended. The boys even needed to go to Del Taco and I was the responsible driver after a bunch of water. I managed to stay at the 1453 calorie mark. Having a shin-dig and staying on a cal budget is tough but I did it. I did go over my usual less than 1200 diet, but I stayed under 1500. It's so hard to balance life sometimes.

Congrats to everyone that stuck to their plan and to those that didn't, tomorrow is a brand new day! As for me, I did well, I bought some gelato and a large peace of steak and I was going to eat those but I didn't. I'm proud of myself. :carrot::carrot::carrot:

Sorry I haven't posted in a day or two, I have been sick. Still sick, but wanted to check in and post. I will try to catch up with the thread and do a better job with daily accountability. Scale is slowly moving down a bit, so that's a good thing. I'm reading Eat To Live right now, which is helping my mindset.
Librarygirl, congrats on resisting the fast food even though you had to drive everyone. And AngelicLyna, congrats on skipping the gelato, hard to resist I know. ;) Pinkhoodie, congrats on getting back on plan. Congrats to everyone doing such a good job! 10-11 :) 10-12 :( (Off plan today and tomorrow, but planned.) 10-13 :( (Off plan yesterday and today, but planned.) 10-14 :) 10-15 :) Hope everyone is having a great day! :) |
As the day comes to its end, I feel more confident about posting a :) here!!!
Yupiiii! So, Saturday is almost over and I'm pretty satisfied with it. I have one regret though. I had about 1 dcl of Fanta which is something like 50 calories which is still in my calorie range, but carbohydrates are those that I'm worried about. I ate and drank approx. 1400 calories today. I walked for about 40 minutes again (maybe 4 km or 2.5 miles). 10/11 :) 10/12 :) 10/13 :) 10/14 :( 10/15 :) 10/16 :) Congrats to everyone that are doing a great job! Have a nice rest of the day! I'm going to bed now! Good night everyone! |
Still on plan today. No gym though, I feel nauseous.
|
Feeling a little bit more in control today. Planning to include a nice glass of wine or two with dinner, and finish the day around 1270 calories. Ran 3.7 miles this morning, and cleaned out the fridge and freezer so there's only good-for-me food stocked.
|
Sounds like everyone is doing well! YaY!! :carrot:
Today was a great day. Got a lot of work done in the yard before the cold weather sets in for good. Caught up on some paperwork and even some household chores. Just checking in to collect my smiliey and call it another good day on plan. 11/11 :) 11/12 :) 11/13 :) 11/14 :) 11/15 :) 11/16 :) |

Got in the exercise, but had an interesting fail on my diet part x_x why do cookies and pie have to be so darn good? =( |

Still off plan. And tomorrow will be too. UGH! I have decided for me I can't look at it as 30 days. I am going to start out slow. I want to have 7 smilies. Just 7 in a row. I can do it. I can do this!

10/12: :) 10/13: :( (1 bnls buffalo wing, one cheese stick) 10/14: :) 10/15: :) 10/16: :( (Wendy's, beer) These weekends really get me, the hubby wanted me to go and get him wendy's yesterday, and of course once I did, I decided to get something. I stopped caring after eating the fast food yesterday because I screwed up the whole thing anyway! I ended up going to some friend's house, eating a lot of chips, and drinking beer. I guess I just lost it. My mind just snapped and after the Wendy's episode, I didn't care. I think that this happens to me a lot, but it's nice to know that I am keeping track of these cravings, and trying to make sense of all my mess-ups. |
10/13 :)
10/14 :) 10/15 :) 10/16 :) On plan and even went for an hour long walk with the family. Yeah me!! Just gotta watch the sodium was up a little. |
Originally Posted by librarygirl111: Warning: Tough love ahead! :o You really really need to cut out the fast food. I know it's hard, I was once addicted to it too.. I gained so much weight starting my senior year of high school up until last year because of Drive-Thru's and Wendy's fries. The advantages of getting your license at the age of 17, eh? :dizzy: I ballooned so quickly, gaining upwards of 100 pounds in less than two years and now it's taking me so long to get it off. I cut fast food out of my diet entirely, going from multiple times a week (even multiple times in a day in some instances) and now? I don't even want it anymore! It actually repulses me now because of all the grease and sodium. What helped me kick the habit was going vegetarian..you can't eat the fries because the oil they use has beef fat in it and the Caesar salad dressing has anchovies in it. I know you eat meat, and I'm incorporating lean meats into my "diet" (using the term loosely) as well.. it is possible to cut it out for good! Think about it.. sometimes the salad at chain restaurants have as much or even MORE calories/fat than the sandwiches. It's also a lot cheaper to make your version of your favorite dish at home, and a lot healthier too! I think you need to have a talk with your boyfriend. Explain to him that you want to focus on on your health and that the fast food isn't helping either of you. If he wants to have fast food, fine.. it's his choice and his body. However, you shouldn't go running out the door to buy him hamburgers and french fries when you know you have a weakness for it. You need his support, and him making you go on fast food "runs" is just enabling you. After you eat it, it brings your mood and spirit down because you're disappointed in your behavior. If you live together, ask him to eat the food in the restaurant and don't bring it home. Set limits and see how that works for you. My boyfriend generally works late hours, coming home at 9:30 sometimes 10pm and he's ravenous. When I see him eating I want to eat too, even if I'm not that hungry. What I do is I set aside some calories from my day to have a small snack with him at the kitchen table.. that way he's not lonely and I don't feel deprived. If he doesn't "obey", you can always bonk him on the head after you prepare a wonderful meal! :frypan: heheh ;D When you go out on weekends and hang out with friends, bring your own snacks to nibble on so you don't give in to the chips. Bags of veggies, Stacy's pita chips in portion-controlled bags, I looove carrot chips and hummus! If you want a carb, try gluten free pretzels! Annie's "bunny" snacks are great as well.. a little high on the sodium but it might help curve your cravings. Beer is okay once in a while, as long as it's light on carbs and calories (think Michelob or MGD64). If you make a plan, arrive prepared, and stick to it, you'll feel great emotionally and physically :) I have the eating down pat, you have the exercise down pat.. if only we could "combine" ourselves into one super healthy individual! LOL Wonder Twin powers.. ACTIVATE! :D On a lighter note, I browsed your vlog and you seem so sweet! I went back to your first post and compared it to the recent ones.. your running mileage doubled in that time! DOUBLED! You're an inspiration to me; I can't wait to be able to run my stresses away, but right now I'm walking and jogging in intervals. I just want you to know that you can overcome this.. you just need to plan plan plan and stay positive. You can do it! -Stephy PS- Sorry about the very long post :P |
The weekends KILLL me!!!!!! It is such a social thing to eat out on the weekends. Whenever i did go out i chose better choices and didnt get my USUAL. It was hard, but Ive noticed that

tough love is good!
LOL- I agree completely. I usually don't like fast food ever, but with all of this healthy eating, I have been losing it! When he said "Wendy's" my mind just exploded!
I talked to him, and told him I have a weakness for fast food and can't be doing fast food runs for him. That stuff is so horrible for you. I just got the spicy chicken combo yesterday and that was 1000 calories---that's about what my daily intake is! I was completely baffled about what happened yesterday, and it just seemed to be one hit after the other. I told you guys weekends were the hardest for me! I usually can follow plan then the weekend! However, I was very impressed with my abilities on Friday, I mananged to stay under 1500, only had one glass of wine when the friends were over, and even drove the guys to del taco and didn't get anything. Alrighty, well tomorrow is my first weigh in. Even though I ate some wendys, drank some beer, and had a mozerella stick at applebees, I hope I can see some sort of change on the scale. Just did a 10-mile bike ride with the hubbie, so hopefully that pulled off some of those wendy's/beer calories. Geez-louise, this forum has really opened my eyes to my eating habits--they are bad! LOL Well, this week went okay, and I think that I know where I can mess up now. I have to be able to balance the amount of work I put into this thing, and realize that it is only going to mess me up later on. With that girlies, look forward to telling you my weigh in for this week tomorrow! thanks for the advice stephy! |
Creech, wonderful advice! :cp:
Cutie, it is so much harder to stick with it when you're not in control of the food. Kudos to you for hanging in there. library, good luck on your weigh in. We're all here to support you! Had a good day today. I have been weighing and logging my food all week and have a much better handle on portion sizes and what does and does not bother my stomach. One more week and I should have clearance to begin working out. Then the fun starts  Gonna claim my smiley for today since I will be babysitting the rest of the night. Chasing after little ones keeps you from eating! LOL ~Nancy 10/11 :) 10/12 :) 10/13 :) 10/14 :) 10/15 :) 10/16 :) 10/17 :) |
I would love to join you all in this! I havn't been sticking to it. I have been on an off for some time. On a week off a week, on, off. Losing the same 2-5lbs each time.. Monday will be a great day to stop that!!
To stay on plan I need to: Count every calorie and fat gram Cardio M W F Strength T and Th Wear pedometer every day with 10,000 steps. |
Court: How are you finding C25K? I really want to incorporate it into my exercise regime!
Anna: Why wait until Monday? I was stuck behind the slowest driver known to MAN when navigating the campus to find parking. She cut me off getting onto the campus, then stopped at EVERY security checkpoint to ask them for directions.. she almost crashed into an SUV turning the corner to the parking lot. She made me 5 minutes late to my test and they wouldn't let me in. I actually ran to my car, called my bf and cried to him on the phone because I was so frustrated =/ They're making me take it tomorrow morning at 9:30, which means I'll be on campus for 13 hours -_- Pardon the acronym but.. FML! Now on to the good part.. I'm proud of myself that I didn't "feed my feelings". I would have gone on a carb-laden binge if I were the same Stephy from a few months ago. Instead I relaxed at home, watched Powder and organized my room. Welp..time to exercise, write two papers, and prepare myself for my very long day tomorrow. Goodnight, Chickies  -Stephy |
On plan again today!
I had a plain sundae from mcdonalds (just the soft serve in a cup, no caramel or chocolate topping) but still within plan! My TOM is coming up so I'm trying to satisfy the cravings of my PMS week with small things to avoid from binging. |
7 days of being on plan, I am very proud of myself right now, I'm going to add 10,000 steps to my exercise regimen also. To another week of success!
|
For all those who have been off track like me. Let's recommit. And if you are having a hard time with 30 days on, let's just take 7 for right now. Just keep telling yourself anyone can do something for a week! It's not THAT long. Then just keep building on it. WE CAN DO IT!!!!
|
I'm in agreement with the recommitting idea =) keep it optimistic!

That's great Pinkhoodie ^_^
"One foot in front of the other and soon you will be running". |
I've been managing to stay on plan even though I'm sick, so I'm glad about that. I'm really gald to be a part of this challenge, it's helpful. ;)
Congrats to everyone staying on plan, and to everyone recommitting. And welcome to people I see starting to join now. :) 10-11 :) 10-12 :( (Off plan today and tomorrow, but planned.) 10-13 :( (Off plan yesterday and today, but planned.) 10-14 :) 10-15 :) 10-16 :) 10-17 :) Hope everyone has a good day! :) |
Off to a great start! Logged all my food for today through Wednesday so now I know what I am eating. It all starts with planning! Wohooo! Feeling better that I am back on track! :D

I am so glad for all the support in the group here. I ate wendy's this weekend, and I am pretty sure that is what messed up my weigh-in this morning. :( I do want to make a change in my life, and I think that you are right, PinkHoodie, it's so hard to just commit for seven days! They always say to take it "a pound at a time" and I guess it's time for us to take it "a day at a time" right? Here's what I ate today: Builder Bar: 270 Fruitcup : 60 Veggie Sand: 450 Miso Soup: 200 Apple: 60 Total: 1040 I didn't work out today, so I think that this will be good. I didn't reach my weight goal today. In fact, I didn't even lose a pound. I think I have some crazy metabolism that doesn't make sense, because I don't eat that much. amy |
Not staying on track
I think that my biggest problem is not staying on track. How can I lose weight if I don't let my body adjust to the changes? Well, tonight is Monday Night Football, so that means no beer for me tonight. I am very motivated to stay on plan this whole week. We can do it, everyone!
And pinkie, i am right there with you, seven days is our new goal! :carrot: |

amy, are you using any tools to track your food like fitday or something? From your menus it doesn't look like you are eating a lot of protein. I'm not sure if that's intentional but that may be part of the problem. Just something to think about.
Another on plan day for me today. My period was due on Oct 9th. I've have bloated days, mini cramps and a few spots but still no cycle. I swear my body needs an exorcism! Tomorrow is weigh in day for me. Fingers crossed it's a good one. 10/11 :) 10/12 :) 10/13 :) 10/14 :) 10/15 :) 10/16 :) 10/17 :) 10/18 :) |
protein
Hey charms!
Yeah, I do eat a lot of protein. The body builder bars that I have in the morning have 20 grams of protein, so I try to do those after a hard workout. I guess you are right though, there isn't too much protein. Tomorrow I am going to have black bean tacos for lunch, so there are proteins in there. How many grams of protein should I be getting a day? thx amy |
I went over 200 calories =/ but I did some extra exercising, I'll mark th is down as "off plan".

Can I join this from 10-18 on? I didn't have a great weekend and could use something to keep me on track for the rest of this month (and into next month).
10-18 :) |
Matt, you're always welcome. Good to see you here -
|
10-18 :)
Yay! I stayed on plan!! I even got extra steps.13,096. I am also a bit under calories. I am full an satisfied, so I am going to leave it at that! :) Can't wait to come put another :) down tomorrow night! |

So 6 pounds lost in 2 weeks. Not too horrible for an old menopausal lady :spin: |
