And you know what I think the best part is? It's two-fold really. One, these smaller clothes you are buying are lighter to hang in your closet and you can fit more in! Two, they'll take up less space in the laundry! Really now...does it get any better than that?

I need a new wardrobe too but I currently have basics...bare bone basics. I too could easily list here what I can wear. What I most want right now are ratty t-shirts! LOL! All my t-shirts are XL and XXL and that's what I work out in. They're getting uncomfortable and clingy/twisty with all that material swimming around me. Smaller t-shirts will take up less space in the laundry!! And I can pick them up for $.60 each at the thrift store.

I hope you had a good time shopping!

Clothes shopping when I was not quite at goal was kind of bitter sweet for me. I always wanted to go nuts, but then again didn't want to spend the money when I knew it wouldn't fit in a month...My tightwad side made it difficult to enjoy the process because I wanted to save the money for clothes I could enjoy later. It was a love/hate relationship. I truly think that is one of the main reasons I stayed on plan so faithfully, day in and day out...because I didn't want to spend the money on something I just didn't truly LOVE!

BUT then again, it's so fun when thing fit and look cute that you want to get all 3 (or 5 )but you don't want to buy too much because you don't want to get comfortable at where your at, (Which isn't bad if you really don't care if you get lower, but if you are bond and determine it sucks.)

I'm weird.

But NOW, I'm still a bargain shopper, but I will buy all 3 (or 5) if I love them! (I have a HUGE almost empty closet, so I have a clean slate still ahead of me! It's fun to add to my growing collection.

It's also overwhelming. The styles of clothes I used to think were cute when I was fat are hideous now...lol Oh...sorry Tammy, I didn't mean to take over your thread.

I'm glad you found a few things

No need to worry, I already did. Sorry.

But I know what you mean. When I was going down in size I HAD to hold back. And boy was that hard. I was dying to buy everything in sight. But I didn't, because I knew that I wasn't going to be in that size for very long. But I did buy a few on sale pieces to get me through, several times. I thought it was vital to not wear baggy clothing and feel good about myself.

I did buy underwear and bras though throughout. The girls needed support more than ever.

The greatest thing is that now that I am a small size, I find GREAT clothes, just great clothes, fairly inexpensive. Those three blouses I bought yesterday at Marshalls - the total came to less than 50 bucks. Which makes it even harder to resist.

There was NEVER any blouses or nice tops at Lane Bryant and the such for those prices. And they were ugly, ugly, ugly - for the most part. Not the case now.

Eliana, I agree with you 1000%. These small clothes take up sooo much less room in my drawers/closets and washing machine. At least that's something. Helps to compensate for the large quantity that I have now.

Again, sorry Tammy. Didn't mean to hijack - but sheesh it's hard not to - we're talking SHOPPING here!!!

Have a great time shopping! I think it is so important to have at least a few well fitting things so you don't feel dumpy even if they will eventually be too big. I'm a tightwad so it was hard to do but I just bought two new outfits. One of them shows a waist (!!) with a tucked in shirt. I haven't worn my shirt tucked in in many years.

Enjoy yourself. Pose in front of the mirrors and enjoy the feeling of wearing something that flatters your figure. Pictures may be in order.

Lori - I am so in that place right now. Today I had to kill time before an appointment so was checking out clothes at Target.

Right away this is a first for me, clothes shopping for fun?? And I keep finding things I like that look like they would fit. Killed me to hold back. Finally allowed myself to buy a $15 pair of shorts. It was 94 here yesterday and I didn't wear shorts until this year and now wondering how I got through summers in jeans for 30 years.

I can see I'm going to have to develop a clothing budget for myself when I do hit goal so I don't go hog wild.

OH my gosh! I soooooo relate to this thread!

First off, Robin, I know what you mean about it being SO MUCH easier to deal with people when you KNOW you look good. I just went through a grueling round of interviews wearing my Ann Taylor outfit that made me look so professional...

But I'm also struggling not to buy too much-- I've already given away stuff that I never even wore!! UGH!

A couple of days ago, I almost bought a pair of 12s because I was so excited that I could zip them, though too tight, and then I said to myself "when you are a comfortable 12 you'll have so many choices you won't need these exact jeans...."

And the PIECE DE RESISTANCE??? My new Nike workout clothes What? Me? Wearing non-plus size WORKOUT CLOTHES?????

I think that I have replaced my overeating obsession with a shopping obsession! I'm buying and buying. Everything looks so good! And Robin you are right. Ss are always on the clearance rack/thrift store. Just yesterday I went to TJ Maxx (dangerous I know) and bought a super cute floral 3/4 length sleeve cardi and a chambray tunic. Total $22!

Oh CFMama--I love my capri leggings! They are super cute and sassy under a above the knee dress/skirt! I cannot wait for the pics!

Since we have the opportunity to completely replace our wardrobe it might as well be fabulous!

Default Closet ?

[quote=rockinrobin;3292188]oh my gosh bargoo - closet? like singular? oh, no, no - I've got my own HUGE closet jam packed and I've got stuff in every one else's closet in this household. I've got huge under bed storage containers filled with sweaters and tops. my stuff is EVERYWHERE. The new stuff I bought today is just laying on my bed - I just don't know where it's going to go. There is no more space. I've got two daughters getting married though, one in 2 weeks. Though I will miss them terribly, I am going to POUNCE on that space.

I gave up on closets long ago. I have clothes in the bathroom and living room and all over the bedroom as well as the closet. It's not very neat but it sure is fun.
Just noticed our stats are very similar, we could probably wear each others clothes !
