Like Robin said... I see a big whoosh somewhere in your future dearie.
When I hit the 190's it was hard goin for me too! But once I scraped and struggled into the 180's it just started meltin' off again! Something about those 190's....
Nothing worse than staring at a stuck scale, but I agree with Robin. If you just keep doing what you're doing, eventually the scale has NO CHOICE. It MUST SUBMIT!
I don't know if this helps you, but it helps me to think about other spots I was stuck at and remind myself that I no longer weigh those weights.
Stalling sucks big time! Good luck breaking your plateau and I agree with Robin - if yoru're really creating a deficit then thermogenesis will have to take over eventually, and your weight WILL go down
first, let me say congratulations on the weight you have already lost - you are doing great!!!!! If I'm connecting the dots correctly, you've lost about 179 pounds in the last 18 months..... or more like 16.5 months since it looks as though you've been "PRACTICING MAINTENANCE" for about 6 weeks or so. That is a phenomenal amount of weight to lose in the amount of time - just my humble opinion. Maybe your body really is saying "what the heck is happening here?". Maybe you just need time for the body to catch up and then the weight will start moving down again.
Hugs to you, because it just sucks sometimes, doesn't it? The 190s were kind of hellish for me, I got stuck at the top, and then again right at the bottom, even though I really, truly, honestly, was on plan and doing everything "right." The scale DID finally move, though, and it will for you, too.
Tammy, I reported yesterday that I was finally down two ounces from my low. Um...no... up a pound today. I am right there with you!!! It sucks!! I even added running. "Running sped up my weight loss" they're all saying. "Running broke my plateau" they say. Pthpt!!!
Anyway...it's nice to have someone to commiserate with.
I noticed something about myself the last few days, and maybe this is what is happening to you too. As it gets warmer, our bodies just naturally hydrate themselves more as sort of a radiator system. (My rings and watches are always tighter in the summer). Maybe you are just going into the spring/summer adjustment period. I just looked back at my last years food/weight journal and in the months of April and May my weight loss slowed way down for awhile and then really picked up in the last 2 weeks of May and all of June....enough to reach my goal by July.
Anyway, I don't know, just a thought. It is discouraging to put forth the effort and not see the results...but really you continue to benefit even from the stall, because you are much healthier. Sometimes it's hard to see the forest through all the trees. Hang in there.
I am a big fan of changing things up. If my weight loss stalls, I start getting sloppy, to be honest. I get discouraged and start slowly slipping off plan.
I started calorie counting at 1500 - did not lose. Cut to 1200, lost for a while, stalled. Cut carbs, lost, stalled. Fat Smash has helped me break through my last 2 plateaus - stopped losing with one version, tried the next. I am also counting calories while I do it. I would try temporarily changing what you eat and see if the scale moves. You have done an amazing job, but I think even superwoman would be discouraged at the plateau you've hit. Can't hurt to change your exercise routine as well.
Just hang in there and it will happen. I know that the month of March I lost 2 lbs total and the month before maybe 2 - Sometimes it just happens that way. Keep going and eventually it will change!!
Instead of DO-ing anything how about just BE-ing? Relax and just BE the 198.2 person for a while. Holy crap, you are in regular clothes now, cross your legs, have a driver's license! Relax in that, revel in the celebration of having lost a ton of weight!
You have done so fabulous! The change it up, exercise more, eat less, more protein, less carbs, plan, plan, plan, work, work, work...sounds like punishment to your body for not cooperating, when your body might just be telling you to give it a minute to catch up with your momentum. Count your calories, eat within your plan but be gentle with yourself.
Remember the advice that you gave me a long time ago, make it a lifestyle change, not something you can't sustain for the long run.

cfmama - I'm finding my body is more resistant to giving it up as I get down near my goal. I wonder if for those of us who were very over weight the last "10" is really like the last "40". I mean all those empty fat cells can't exactly be real happy about it right? Anyway I'm finding as long as my diet is on target really it's increasing my activity that is making the scale move these days, and it's still painfully slow compared to before.
