Diane: I used plain greek yogurt as a sour cream substitute. It has a tangier taste, but the texture is about the same. I think DH would turn his nose to it, but I don't mind.

Going to eat some dinner and try making some yogurt!! That is, if I have all the ingredients. I think I do but we'll see

Hi chicks - yesterday I stayed in my calorie range...am grateful for that. My plan took many twists and turns because of this da** foot/ankle. I am going to the dr. at 5:30. I have to take my mom to have a heart test today.

plan and write down all food for the day
lots of water
fork down between bites, no seconds, eat seated only
slow down...mindful eating
taste the food
feel the food/fullness in my tummy
remember why
leave a small bite of food on the plate
measure food
give myself credit for all the things I do right with food during the day - not just a few mistakes

calories 1200 - 1600

Shmoodle - when you get the right dosage of your thyroid medicine figured out you'll feel alot better. Remember to take the medicine just as perscribed (on empty stomach and don't eat/drink coffee for one hour) omg - no choclate in Hershey pa - you deserve a medal.

mj - hope your dinner went well! I love hearing about the fun things you do with your nieces.

anewcreation - hope your little one is better. I eat between I don't zigzag (I don't think?? Although I eat anywhere between 1200-1600 calories. Glad you got to the pool!

slash- GREAT job on knocking off seven of those pounds. You can do this!

trazey - hi! wow you are in onederland...fantastic....great plan.

txmary - you are so right...it's NOT about dieting its about changing your relationship with food. Glad your weekend was good.

rhonda...yes, planning is key!! Hope your day went well.

Hi chicks, just a quickie today, I just got the kids out the door and need to jump in the shower, then off to an appt to get my boobies squished. I haven't done it before so I'm nervous. anyhow, no morning snack means I'll be hungry when I get home and if I don't have a plan it'll be bad news.

B: whole grain bagel with lowfat cream cheese
L: chicken breast, V8, refried bean soup
S: tea, bean brownie
D: Shrimp fried "rice"
S: skim cocoa

Have a great morning, chicks, I'll be back later to chat.

Hi Friends,

Today is weigh-in day. I dropped 4.6 pounds! I'm quite happy with this great jumpstart to my new journey. Today, I need to get 40 hours of work accomplished in 8 hours! Ok....I'm exaggerating. But, still, this week is nutso. Today, I have a meeting at church to talk about getting involved in a ministry, then I have a meeting at the highschool to talk about my daughter's courses next year. Looks like another day without the treadmill.

Have a great on-plan day. Schmoodle, have fun with the boob-smasher! LOL. I'm sure you'll discover that it's not so bad afterall.

Hey chickies!

Sorry I haven't been around much lately, I have been staying with my best friend, her baby and her mom at their lake house for the past couple weeks, and I just don't get on the internet as much here. I will actually be moving in with them in October when my apartment's lease runs up, so I am super excited.

I have been doing very well with my weight loss, even though I haven't been on 3FC (I miss it!.) I have also inspired my friend and her mom to lose, and they have signed up for Weight Watchers. I think that's pretty cool.

The best part about being up here is I am never bored and don't even have the urge to randomly munch, and we're very active. We do lots of yard work, take two hour long walks on hills with my dog and her stroller, and they have a gym in their basement!

-I LOVE greek yogurt... I usually get the Fage 0% plain, and use it for a sour cream substitute, add my own warm berries to it, or put cereal in it. LOVE it.

-everybody has been doing so well, I need to make sure I get on here more often! way to go, everybody! I will sign on later today to give individuals, I just heard the baby get up. (I'm not a kid person at all, but this little bugger brightens every day)

Good morning everyone!

@Schmoodle, good for you! I hope you are reading this in time to hear me say, 'Don't hesitate to let your tech know if you are too uncomfortable. Trust me, they will work with you.'

@Beverlyjoy, I used to try to stay at the same calorie level everyday. If I was losing on 1600 then I pretty much stayed at 1600. But, I'm going to try to do more like you. I just haven't figured out my range yet. I am going to average my weekly calories and see what I come up with. It's trial and error at this point. But, it feels more like 'real living'. I suspect this is the way most people of 'normal' weight live. Which may be why they don't struggle with weight? Anyway, that's been my thought process lately

@GirlyGirlSebas, congrats on that HUGE loss!

Scr eggs w/cheese
Zucchini
Bacon
Black coffee
Total: 300c

HB, 1/2 small ff, diet coke
Total: 365c

Cinamon bagel w PB
Total: 180c

Pizza, salad
Total: 450c

Protein drink, snack bar
Total: 210

total today: 1595c

BTW, my coffee pot died and I replaced it with a Kurig. OMG!!! This coffee is so good, I don't even need the creamer I used to use. That will cut down on some calories!!!

Have a fabulous on plan day, my chickie friends!

@Rhonda: YAY! Congrats!!! Keep up the momentum!

The yogurt seemed to turn out well, but I didn't eat any of it this morning because I had just taken it out of the yogurt maker and it needed to refrigerate for 4-6 hours. I will try some as a snack tonight!

Food yesterday went well. I ended up having some of DH's leftovers from a restaurant (steak, mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli) but there wasn't very much left so I also had a large salad, and for a snack some crackers and cheese. I also did 30 minutes exercise. My weight has already gone down from the weekend, just like I thought it would. Still plugging away... and yes, I am proud to say that I never succumbed to those blasted donuts!!

Good morning everyone!

I feel like I am just trying to hang on right now. I head to weight watchers here in a couple of minutes and will see how the week went. I feel like I did a pretty good job, but I just haven't been able to track every day and exercise like I used to. I'm hoping at some point here, things will slow down but I guess this is good practice for maintenance. Life isn't always going to be simple and quiet and I will need to figure out how to stay on track.

I'll let you know how it turns out...

Today:
b - apple, yogurt, granola, walnuts - 8
l - Chicken enchiladas - 8
s - banana, orange - 3
d - whole wheat spaghetti, salad - 10

Yesterday I struggled mentally a tiny bit and was feeling hungrier than I have all week. I just popped some almonds to take off the edge. I was still under my allotted calories for the day, but it was the highest of the week.

Blood sugar was 175 this morning...still under 200! woot! Feel great this morning. I had 3 scrambled eggs and 2 slices of whole grain toast with a bottle of water.

Hi everyone! Went to my annual appt this morning, now I can submit for my $75 wellness benefit through my AFLAC plan...yippee! some shopping for me!

Beverlyjoy--Great job! That darn foot/ankle!!! The dinner went very well...I even skipped desert! Aww, thanks, I have a blast w/ my nieces...

Schmoodle--I agree...Hershey PA and NO chocolate...WOW, now tha'ts impressive! Today must have been the day for squished boobies! I went for my annual gyn exam and they said well, as long as you are here....fabulous. I had a baseline done a few years ago and since I am turning 40 in the fall....so rather than stew about it, I just went and did it! I just got the call that all is normal.

Rhonda--Way to go!!! 4.6 lbs is awesome!!!! I TOTALLY hear you...I have the same kind of day...

HokiLoki--Hi! sounds like you are doing great! Keep it up!

ANewCreation--We recently purchased a Keurig....I LOVE it!!!! I told someone that if it is possible to love a coffee maker, then I do!!!!

rakel--Great job!!!! Way to go resisting the donuts!

brandijune--Hang in there!!!! You can totally do this.

TXMary2--Fantastic!

I did get takeout today....I went straight to my appt, and wasn't sure how long I would be, BUT, I planned ahead. I went to a restaurant that has take out and picked up an awesome salad w/ grilled chicken and some fresh fruit. I didn't look around. I bought my food and left. I did not drool over the yummy looking breads or deserts.

I have my workout clothes in the car. I am going to the gym for cardio tonight. Hubby and I are making our "healthy-ish" pizzas tonight. I will cut down on the amount of cheese I use on mine.

I am now going to officially update my ticker. I'm not happy about it, but it needs to be correct.

Have a great OP day!

I was a little sore after yesterday’s Body Pump class, but I went to spin class this morning and it helped work out the soreness in my quads. Hopefully, I won’t be sore from doing spin class, right? Ha! Had a good day yesterday with food. A couple of chocolate chip cookies got in my way, but I was already low on the calorie count, so they fit in. Who baked those darn things?? Oh ya, I did. My kids love them, so they’ll be gone soon.

Had a little eye opener last night. I took my son to a football meeting. He is going into 9th grade next year and they had a meeting for all boys going into football, 9th through 12th grade. Besides the fact that he’s my baby and I can’t believe he’s already going into high school football, I realized that now, more than ever, I want this weight down. Now, I’ve lost some and I feel so much better than before, but I don’t want to have to go to his games and have to struggle to get up the steps to the seats. I want to feel good and look good when I’m sitting there with all the other moms! So, I vow to keep pushing on! (It may seem silly, but it struck a chord with me.)

ANewCreation: I have more trouble with getting hungry on the days I don’t work out. I always feel like I’ve worked THAT hard, I don’t want to go off plan with food and ruin the good work. But, maybe some healthy snacks in between meals? Oh, and I don’t know how much water you drink, but increasing that might help!

Mj5: Hope you have some fun with your shopping! Hope you have a good workout tonight.

Rakel: I’ll have to try the greek yogurt. I just love sour cream, but it can really be a big hit to your calorie count!

Beverly: Hope your mom’s heart test went well and your foot/ankle is doing better. Injuries and pain are so aggravating!

Schmoodle: I have to do the boobie squish soon, too. Such exciting stuff.

Rhonda: AWESOME! See, you can do it and do it really well! 4.6 pounds is great!

HokieLoki: Sounds like you are having some fun! Good for you for staying on plan, too.

Brandijune: I hope you had a good result at weight watchers. Keep us up to date!

TXMary: Yay for you on the blood sugar. Must be doing something right!

Ok all, I really need to get to bed as it is after midnight, but I really wanted to post about my yogurt before I went.

In short, it was a major success! Seriously, I am not even a huge yogurt fan, and I could even see myself eating the stuff plain without anything added whatsoever. Not only that, but you seriously don't need to add much in the way of sweeteners or flavorings to have a very tasty snack. It was very smooth and creamy although not very thick (despite the fact that I strained out the whey which caused it to reduce in half). Normally, people go on the sweet side with yogurt, but why not try something savory? I am going to have to play with that idea. I think it would be good with some chopped up chives and maybe some sauteed veggies & spices.

Anyway, it was very easy to make and there are plenty of uses for the whey if you strain it. I'm going to use mine in some bread or pizza dough (in place of water 1:1) I think. Supposedly it's pretty nutritious. There is a HUGE difference on this, and the yogurt you buy in the store.

Hi chicks...yesterday was a healthy day, in my calorie range. I am grateful.

I weighed this morning - it's been a week. I stayed the same. It's disappointing, of course, because I think I deserve to have the scale go down. I've been in my calorie range (except in the evening last Wednesday.) However, I've taking some different medicine that usually keeps me from losing. Also, I've hardly moved much this week because of my sore ankle/foot. Plus...way too much salt and I've known it all week. I am trying to convince myself it's not all aout the number, it's about living with food in a sane manner. Oh well....I will carry on and hope for a loss next week.

today -
stay in calorie range
plan and write down all food eaten
fork down between bites, eat seated only, no seconds
mindful, slow eating
taste the food
feel the fullness in my tummy
lots of water
less salt!
leave a bite of food
remember why!
