Smile This is working! (Measurement NSV)

I've been feeling kind of discouraged the last week or so, because my weight has been oscillating between 257 and 260 for the last few weeks. That little voice that says it isn't worth it has been popping up more frequently, as much as I tell it that if I stick with it, I'll get there eventually.

However, today I took my measurements, and I've lost 3 inches off my waist and 2 off my bust and hips! I kept pulling the tape around, afraid I'd made a mistake. In fact I went down in every category except for my neck, which was the same, and my calf, which was actually a little larger. (Is it possible this is from exercising, or should I be concerned? )

I thought my clothes were feeling looser, but I didn't realize I'd shrunk as much as I did... I guess that's the downside to stretchy clothing - you don't notice as much going up, but then you also don't notice as much coming down.

Great NSV! Congrats!! My weight fluctuated up this morning but then I took measurements and also noticed a drop -- so important to have other ways to measure success!!

Wouldn't worry about the calf. It would seem reasonable to me you have built muscle in that area.

Congratulations. When your weight makes you feel discouraged try something else that you can see progress. But sounds like you are doing great. Don't worry about your calves, it probably is from the exercise.

Keep up the good work!!

Yay!!! That's fantastic! Don't let that nagging little voice in your head get to you. Your progress is amazing and don't let anything or anyone tell you differently!

Aw, thanks you guys! Being inspired by all of you on 3FC has really made a huge difference for me. The best is when I'm reading about your success at home after work and think "what am I doing on the computer? I should be in the gym!"... and then I go!

hooray that's always a good feeling

I'm in the same boat, if it makes you feel any better. I lost ten pounds my first week and then just keep waffling up and down the same 3 pounds, but I too have lost 3ish inches off my waist and a couple everywhere else so it IS working.

Don't give up, and I hope the inches lost inspires you to keep going

Another note on the calf--sometimes I measure my arms and one measurement is bigger on one day than another. I have chalked it up to being that it's difficult to get it in the same place every time, and like your calves, your arm circumference varies due to it's natural shape
