It was a healthy weekend for me.... I am always grateful for that! I ate healthfully at my cousin's bday party. I am glad there were enough healthy options among the many unhealthy ones.

My foot/ankle is really bothering me...so, I'll have to 'baby' it again. Ice ice baby!

for today:

plan and write down all food eaten
lots of water
stretches
eat when seated only (no tastes, licks, nibbles etc)
no seconds, fork down between bites
mindful slow eating
leave a bite of food
remind myself WHY
check in here
try to feel fullness in tummy
give myself credit during the day when I do healthy things

I hope everyone has a great day and week!!

Good Morning BeverlyJoy and chicks to follow! I had a pretty good week last week. We went to Hershey Park on Saturday and I didn't eat one bit of chocolate. This week looks to be pretty busy, so planning will be essential. I am still feeling bad, but blood work showed thyroid issues as I suspected, so I'm hoping to get in to the endocrinologist this week. I can't wait to feel better and I actually miss exercising!

I am sorry your foot is bothering you today BeverlyJoy. I hope you can get some relief.

I am sipping my tea and eating an oatmeal breakfast bar, while pondering the rest of the day:
S: mozzarella cheese stick, V8
L: chicken breast, some kind of veggie
S: skim latte or tea, bean brownie
D: Need to go look in the freezer and decide
S: skim cocoa

Good morning, Friends! ANewBeginning - Welcome to the thread. I hope we hear from you often.

Beverly - hope you find relief today.
Schmoodle - have you had thyroid problems for a while? I have nodules on my thyroid. It is probably time for me to get checked again.

My calendar for this week is hectic! Planning will be key. I must eat before I go out to run each errand or before heading out on an appointment. Grabbing something on the run always messes me up. Not this time!

Have a great on-plan day.

Rhonda, I didn't know I had thyroid problems until now. I don't get to the doctor much, and only went this time because I was feeling so badly. I don't know much about it but I guess they'll give me a med to balance things out. Hectic weeks tend to mess me up too, unless I plan plan plan. Good luck to us both!

Trazey, I have been away for a while, and your ticker is amazing! You are doing so well, way to go, chick!

Good morning! I made it through the weekend without incident!! I haven't even been white knuckling at all and I started Wednesday of last week. This time I have told myself I am not dieting, but learning a new way to live, making better food choices and just treating my body better. I have been eating about 3-4 almonds between meals and snacks so that I don't get to that feeling that I am going to starve. I count every last Almond in my calorie count. I haven't gone over my calories once and in fact have been 100-200 below what I am allowed. I am drinking my water.

My blood sugars have still been in the 160's.......down from months of 200 -250!!!

Not a very good weekend for me (pizza & soda on Saturday; Chinese on Sunday) but I don't think I overdid it too much. Weight is up a bit but I think it's more sodium than anything, as I didn't go hugely over my calories. Back on track today. My boss brought in donuts again but I won't have any part of them, I have already made up my mind!

B: luna bar & yogurt (too much sugar still! I need to make some yogurt and sweeten it with honey)
L: chicken salad sandwich, popcorn, orange
S: peanut butter on bread
D: some sort of chicken, veggie and pasta meal
S: fruit & veggies

I'm still trying to figure out how to really cut down my sugar intake. I'm not going to have ensure anymore, but I still have some luna bars because they are convenient and have vitamins and etc. DH bought the yogurt, so I am just trying to use it up and I will try to finally break out my yogurt maker so I can control the sweetness with honey and/or a little raw sugar. I found the yoplait yogurt I had this morning almost sickeningly sweet. bleh!

@TXMary2--great attitude and congrats on lowering you blood sugar! Keep up the good work!

@rakel--have you tried greek yogurt? Better to me than plain yogurt and you can sweeten it to taste. Not everyone likes greek yogurt but I thought I'd mention it... And yeah, my weight goes up too when I eat out because of sodium content. Give it a couple of days and you should be back down.

I have, actually, and I do like it. I like that it can be replaced for sour cream and even mayo in some recipes as well, but I think I can get a similar taste-consistency with my yogurt maker. I have everything I need for that, just need to do it! Maybe that will be my project tonight

Hi everyone! I haven't disappeared! So much for a semi-relaxing weekend....oh well! What can you do?! Food choices were ok, not great, but certainly could have been worse. Exercise was non-existant.

Saturday I went to a "makeup even" at bare escentuals. It was SO much fun!!!! I had my makeup done by a national makeup artist...so nice to be pampered! One of my nieces came with me and they had so many extra people working that she was able to get her makeup done too. Then we did a little shopping and stopped for lunch. It was a lot of fun. Yesterday I ended up watching my niece and nephew for a little while (same niece and her brother) and we watched a movie. It was fun.

I saw my endocrinologist today. All is good there, except my blood pressure is still up. I have my annual gyn appt tomorrow. ugh, but good to get out of the way! AND I see my gp in a few weeks....my blood pressure just is not getting any better, so I am afraid it will be meds, at least for a little while for me. I am going to share all of my biometric test results, too.

No time for the gym tonight....we have our annual board of directors meeting/dinner tonight. ICK!!! I was going to try to duck out early, but my supervisor has asked to ride with me. Super. I kinda have to go, since I am up for a promotion....I was going to go for the schmoozing/dinner part and then sneak out....but now I can't. oh well....what can you do?! I am fairly confident that there will be healthy choices for dinner. Our agency is making BIG efforts towards healthy choices...they won't even allow non-healthy snacks at meetings anymore!!! (which is fine with me!), I mean people can bring their own, of course, but anything provided by our agency is healthy.

WOW...I guess I was making up for lost time! LOL!!!

Have a great OP day everyone!!!!

Hi everyone. Darn good weekend for me. I've struggled with food on most weekends this year, and this one worked out well. Finally! I was looking at my Daily Plate graph of my weight and I really struggled, starting in mid December through mid March. I actually went up by about 10 pounds overall. Not good. But the last few weeks are clicking and my weight started going down. I have about 7 pounds to get to my lowest again. It's funny, I was in a challenge at my gym during a lot of that time. Evidently that doesn't work for me. But, I'm feeling like it is all starting to click again. I just have to keep on track. Sometimes I think I need the warmer weather to feel better. (I know, excuses...) Anyway, I'm feeling stronger and that's a plus. I won't think about the time that was wasted, just have to keep moving forward.

I went to BodyPump this morning and it kicked my butt. I think that's good. I'm going to try to do BodyPump on Mondays and Fridays, spin on Tuesday and Thursday, and BodyFlow on Wednesday. Saturdays are either treadmill or elliptical day. Sunday... rest!

Beverly - Sorry to hear about your foot/ankle. I hope it gets better soon!

Schmoodle - Hope something can be done about your thyroid. Like any of us need any more obstacles to losing weight!

Rhonda - I hear you on hectic weeks causing problems. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week will be challenging for me for dinners. Have to think ahead and get stuff ready. (My kids are so darn active....)

Trazey - Have a great lunch!!

ANewCreation - Cool workout you have with the early morning water aerobics!!

Rakel - Which yogurt do you prefer as a substitute for sour cream? Plain or greek? I've heard of doing that, but never have tried it. I need to do that.

TXMary - Good for you on having such a healthy attitude!

MJ - Had to edit to say hi to you! You sound busy, too!! Hang in there with the blood pressure issue. Hope it gets better.

Have a good week everyone!

Well, my friends little one is home sick so our lunch was cancelled. I am starving today and so I see myself zig zagging UP in calories today. I just took some soup out of the freezer. Very low in calories but very satisfying and filling. I hope I can come in around 1700 calories today. Tomorrow is not a workout day so I should be able to come in lower--maybe 1400-1500calories. I'm new to zig zagging calories so I'm open to advice!

Does anyone else get extra hungry on their workout days? Or is it just me? Any helpful suggestions?

@rakel--homemade yogurt sounds wonderful! Let us know how it turns out.

Good to meet everyone else. Have a great day on plan, my friends!

Hi everyone! Just thought I would pop in for a little extra inspiration before my dinner tonight! I would MUCH rather go home and curl up w/ hubby and the dogs, but sometimes I have to 'play the grown up' and go to stuff like this.

Diane--Great job! You are doing awesome! Yea, it's really busy right now....our state certification is sometime next month so everyone is a little extra busy...of course we never know when the certifiers are going to show up...they just do....I can't wait for it to be over. Then things settle down a bit again...at least in theory!

ANewCreation--I am extra hungry on workout days. I find if I have a small snack when I am finished working out it helps....so I am not snacking the whole time I am making dinner.
