Default Knowingly Ruining My Plan

I just need to write this out and have someone talk me down.

I just hit my first mini goal - 10% BW loss. 29.5 lbs down and gone as of Wednesday.

Yet, the past 2 days, I'm totally OFF plan. I know I'm doing it and I'm not getting myself back ON.

I do this every time I try something new. I have a bit of success and then I throw it away.

Help stop me! (yes, I know only I can stop me, but telling someone what I'm doing is helping me not hide from it)

Thanks for listening.

You have made it this far. I mean it's excellent that you have lost 29.5lbs. Do you really want to go off plan, gain weight, and then have to lose that weight again? I know from experience that it's not fun to gain the same 3lbs only to lose it again and again. You're doing great and making great progress. You can do it. You got off plan, but you can get right back on again.

We've all had these "rebellious" moments. Sometimes it's easy to jump right back on the horse and other times we feel like "who cares". When this happens to me I have to remind myself that every choice I make matters. The more I let myself slip up, the easier it is to slip up again. I give myself about 5 minutes to have a whiny pity party and then I tell myself to snap out of it.

You've been doing great and you are on your way to even more success. You are worth it! (And so am I, for that matter)

Good luck jumping back on the horse.

I can't make you go back on plan--just wonder why you need to sabotage yourself. Is the plan becoming boring to you? Try some new foods. Do you feel the need to reward yourself for staying on plan so long? Do something nice for yourself.

Visualize your goal weight. State your intentions to go for the gold. See it, smell it, feel it. You can do this--it is just a choice. You seem like a level-headed gal. Do what is right for yourself. Just do it.

I wish you the best of luck

Your friend,

Sharon

Jump back on right now. Sit down right now and make a list of everything you are going to eat today--don't try to "make up" for any overeating this morning--as that will just starve you--but plan exactly what you are going to eat, and when, as if you had been on plan up to this minute.

Then, plan tomorrow and the next day down to the gram.

Plans work better than good intentions.

Thank you everyone. I know I have to do it, but I will tell you what.. the motivation to do good because I have the accountability to this board is amazing. Main reason why I posted, I couldn't hide from the bad that I did. I had to own it and posting helped that.

I took Shmead's advice and wrote down what snack was this afternoon and dinner tonight. I went for a walk around outside of my office and grabbed a big glass of water.

I can't take back the donut I had for breakfast or the pizza for lunch, but it's grapes and carrots for snack and a big ol' salad with chicken and more veggies for dinner! Today is so nice out, I will try to counteract the earlier calories with a walk with the hubby and son.

I will tell you what I was told when I was feeling like I was going to sabotage myself like "I used to do".

In your post you said you do this every time you start something new. Well this is a different time and you get yourself together. Stop saying what you always do. Plan your meals and eat what you plan. Get a workout done. Don't wait til tomorrow to get it together, do it now. What would your next meal be on your eating plan? Then eat that. No need to do anything drastic. Like starving yourself.
Get your meal plan out and stick to it.

I used to find myself doing this. Losing some weight, but when it started feeling like people were noticing or life might actually change because of it, I sabotaged myself and ended up gaining it all back. I think it was my fear of actually losing weight and getting to goal. Take some time and inventory what being overweight does for you. For me, it let me be invisible, made it easier to deal with some of my past issues with vulnerability, it let me always be the "party girl" that would drink with the guys and eat whatever, it let me be the supermom I always wanted to be, it gave me an "easy" way to deal with emotions - just eat them. Losing weight comes with so many changes, both physical and mental. Challenge those labels that you have for yourself. Challenge the "positives" of being overweight. Deal with the issues that you may be hiding because of the weight. And above all, know that you can do this and you are worth it! Don't be afraid of success (or the attention that can come with it)! Giving up doesn't get you anywhere. Take the time to evaluate your mental place and think about what works and what doesn't and why you think you are struggling. Once you understand those things, you'll be unstoppable!!

lots of good advice, I'll just reiterate that this is a CHOICE. Choose to stay on plan and get fit and healthy and slim.
