Maybe you could trick your body into burning calories more efficiently if you increase your food for a while. At 5'8" it is possible that 1200 calories is a bit low.
Are you the one who eats the same thing for breakfast every day, toast with peanut butter. (First off, yuck. ) Maybe try some other spread, or even top it with an egg instead of the peanut butter. Is the peanut butter homemade? Try that if not.
Gosh I don't know. But it was me, I'd do one of two things. 1. Increase the calories by 100-200 a day and do that for a month and then dip back down to 1200. OR 2. I'd go on a low-carb diet to really change things up.
I'm not changing my breakfast. I love it.
I know increasing calories works for some people, but I don't think that would work for me. I'm in my late forties and I just don't think my motor burns that fast anymore.
Lower carb does seem to help, but for me, I don't see myself sustaining really low carb over time. I eat a lot of vegetables.
ubergirl (and CLCS) - sorry you are both struggling a bit right now, but I appreciate your honesty in sharing what it's like to face a plateau or increase when you are doing mostly the right things, and also the ways you are finding to get back on track. I'm sure that at some point, the scale will catch up and your numbers will match the effort you are putting in.
I have been on 12+ week plateaus. They are not fun but they can be eye opening.
I broke one of them by upping the amount of water I drink. I broke another by going to 6 days a week of Jillian for a month. I broke another by eating more calories for a week (300 extra per day) then going back down.
It sounds like the routine needs to be jolted a little. I do a jolt then go back to what I was doing and usually can move on from there...
Don't give up!! The mojo will come back and then it will be whoosh time

Oh yeah, veggies. LOL! I forgot those had carbs. Most veggies are ok on SBD but not on Atkins...I think. In any case, I know what you mean. I love counting calories because I feel like it's sustainable. SBD is now more of a phase of my life that taught me a lot and something I have to fall back on if I need it. Also, I love fruit!
