Default Tasty and frugal!

It's still 10 days to payday, so I'm working my way through my cupboards.

Here's a real comfort food for one:

1 T oil - whatever kind
2 small/medium onions, chopped
2 small apples, chopped
1.5 oz oats, like raw breakfast cereal
a shake of hot chili flakes
1/2 t salt
ground black better

Fry the onions gently for 5 minutes.
Add the apples, shake around and fry, covered, for another 5 minutes.
Add the oats. Stir in.
Add the seasoning.
Add a splash of hot water to loosen it slightly.
Cover and cook slowly for about 10 minutes more. Don't worry if it sticks a bit, that's the good bit, but don't let it burn.

Scrape onto a plate and enjoy.

400 cals, so a main meal but very warming and satsifying and 40% RDA fibre.
