I actually hadn't figured out the 12 min mile part. I had contemplated calculating the mph. I cannot believe I did 4.99mph. On a good day on the treadmill, I can do 5mph for 10 mins, then I have to cut back down to 4mph to catch my breath

And my rookie advice to those thinking about doing a run...when you do do it, don't get into the heat of the moment and take off at the sound of the gun. Learn a comfortable pace. I was at the start of the line, with a bunch of young fit kids. I should have positioned myself towards the back (so I wouldn't get trampled over)

Great job! A 5k is on my "to-do" list for this summer. DH wants to do a sprint triathalon, but I'm not sure I can swim, run AND bike all at once. I can handle the biking, but the running is coming slow. Isn't it amazing how you can exceed your own expectations? Really, great job!

Congratulations! That is such a cool accomplishment! It must be amazing even to yourself to see how far you've come. It's certainly amazing looking on from afar.
