Hi,
You can try finding free stuff on freecycle( it is a yahoo group that you join, there are tons in the U.S.A.), I have seen treadmills offered, weights, ect...
A good execise is crunches for the stomach, and don't think you can do it, even starting off with one, and building that up little by little.

Did you know that walking is actually great exercise for the stomach? Crazy, huh? But, its true. For the arms, you might consider getting a set of resistance bands and beginning some strength training. I got my bands and a $10.00 dvd from Target.

Also, don't forget that walking also helps to decrease the amount of intra-abdominal fat...the fat you can't see and the fat this is so very harmful to our health.

Walking is actually really really good! Bend & swing your arms while you're moving that will help some too! (Power walking style even if you're not quite power walking) It's what I've been doing, and I've noticed slightly slimmer arms.

usually losing weight helps the stomach go down! There are muscles there but to see them you have to get past the flab, so walking is a great way!

As for how much, that varies by person. Any movement is better than none! If you can only do 5 min, do 5 min several times a day. If you can do 15 minutes -- do that once or 2ce a day. Build up to it. If you can do an hour, great! But I know I couldn't have started with that!

I know my mom said her bat wings didn't decrease until a year or two after she hit goal. Either way, working out will decrease fat all over your body. So just keep it up. Eventually, it will be gone!

The first time I lost a substantial amount of weight it was via walking every night. Since restarting last week my wife and I walk about an hour a night. We came across this great webpage to map our distances called Google Pedometer. http://www.gmped.com/

Walking is great exercise! I will admit it can be boring. My trick is an ipod and books from Audible, I love getting lost in a good story, and my Dixie dog . Don't discount walking as a great way to burn the fat off your belly. That google pedometer map is really cool, look up your neigborhood and map it out and GO!!!!

And I do like the bands. fun resistance training and there are some good stomach strengthaning moves that don't require sit-ups. If you get some, I started by doing exercises durring commercial breaks!

Good luck to you and Keep moving!

The back of the upper arm is the triceps. Check exrx.net for triceps exercises you can do at home with hand weights (cheap and widely available).

You made me laugh about the arms waving. Hee Hee. I think walking is great too. I dont know what it is, but sometimes when i walk, I start to kind of hurt in my stomache area. I guess that's a sign it is working, I guess.........good luck. Keep walking!!

Walking is great exercise. I do some throughout the week. I also use my exercise bike. Another thing is I use the video game Dance Dance Revolution. It can give you a good workout and the time flies by.

There is also, mapmyrun.com that someone told me about the other day. I just mapped my walk from work to home and got 2 miles! It also includes biking, walking, running, and more. Though I will only use biking and running

Walking is fantastic exercise! Keep on with that, and if you need some variety, pick up a Leslie Sansone DVD to get a little funky with it. She adds some kicks and knee lifts and things, so it's a bit more intense than just walking.

Oh, Rhonda, I didn't know! Yippee, walking is my primary exercise.

I have so much abdominal fat, and I am sure I am one of the worst cases of intra-abdominal fat in the country. If they were to slice me open right now, I bet the doctors would be shocked. I only recently learned about that type of fat by reading through YOAD.

A great exercise is Pilates. I have a Denise Austin DVD that has a Pilates and a Yoga workout. I've never tried the Yoga workout, but I regularly do the Pilates. It works very well for the core muscles, which is what you're after. It does wonders for my posture, as well. I carry myself completely differently when I am regularly using the DVD.
