Default My vacation NSV

So my hubby and our two kids went to Vegas last weekend. My inlaws live there, so we dropped the kids off with them and they put us up in a hotel for our anniversary (nice!).

My hubby (who is doing low-carb) and I decided that we weren't going to watch our food intake that carefully, but just make better choices. We did the buffet thing, nice dinners out, etc. What was really strange for both of us is that the things we had chosen to eat were much healthier than we had usually chosen -- by choice!

Usually at the buffet, we would have a lot of starchy and fried foods along with foods dripping in sauces and creams. Again, this was by choice and not feeling like we had to "control ourselves." Granted, we did hit up the dessert buffet, but instead of eating all of the pieces we took, we each shared a bite or two of each thing.

I was very, very proud of us. Maybe this "lifestyle change" really is hitting us and has opened our eyes to the "bad" foods we used to eat all the time that made us so heavy.

I'm now 7 weeks into my new "lifestyle change" and down 14.5 pounds and feeling great, feeling not deprived, and just feel positive. It is amazing what not doing a gimmicky diet and doing it the old-fashioned way (portion control, healthier foods, and exercise) can do for you!

Congrats! Sounds like you had a great time. You are right about how not feeling deprived can really help sustain the way of life. Good job!

Way to go!

It also looks like you won the in-law jackpot, too. What nice people!
