Default Ubergirl is Uberdepressed...

I really need some support, big time.

I'm not sure what is going on but my weight WILL NOT GO DOWN...

This morning, it was even worse-- I was up another pound...

Back up to 266.5.. That means a NET GAIN of two pounds for the past seven days...

I have been sticking to my plan 100%.

Today I even tried measuring to see if maybe I was losing inches. My measurements were exactly the same.

I feel like crying.

This happens alot. You'll go a while without a change, and then all of a sudden you'll have a HUGE drop. Hang in there, it will happen!!

Hiii.. i think ur only looking into it for a short time... I'm actually in the same period as u right now... for the past week my weight has stayed the same or went up just a bit (8 days straight) and i kept on my diet... until today i started to lose a bit of weight again 0.2 -0.5 less lol so don't be discouraged if u reached that point, don't give up easily. you can do it! ^ ^ and sometimes i go on cheat meals, i do it once a week to confuse my body so my metabolism won't go down or something.

I know it's frustrating when that happens, but you DO need to be patient!! You have a lot of weight to lose, and there WILL be weeks when you gain or stay the same, because weight loss is not linear! I find it the most difficult aspect of weight loss and try to find other ways to measure progress, but I too am subject to the siren call of the scale.

It's just a normal part of the process, unfortunately. As such, I think it's one of the reasons SO MANY people give up!! Please don't be one of them!!

The scale is NOT your friend!! It is Keep that in mind!

So, be patient!!!!

Hi ubergirl! I'm sorry you are frustrated

Have you been drinking lots of water? and have you cut back on salt? I'm not sure what you are eating but Lean cuisines and other processed foods have lots of salt and can make you retain water, that 2lbs could easily be water and not weight gain. Even diet pop has salt.

I don't think you need any more "advice", as you have already received plenty of good advice. Just wanted to say we are all here for you, cheering you on to keep on keeping on. We ALL have days like this (see "No excuses/no whining" thread I started recently). I'm glad you came here for help instead of going to food for comfort. That in itself proves you are making progress. Hugs to you. You are going to make it. I just know you will.

I've been rather mad at the scale lately too, but I'm just trying to stick it out. Everyone else who has posted is right -- the scale will do wacky things and no matter how committed you are you'll have to stick it out through those times when your rate of weight loss just doesn't make sense. It sucks, but it's part of this journey. Don't worry -- keep up the good work and in no time you'll be posting here to tell us about how the scale has dropped for you again! We'll be here for you through both the drops and the stalls!

Thanks everybody!!!

It really does help to have support.

So far I'm holding tough, but it IS frustrating!!!

I haven't been a huge dieter in the past. I used to be a serious binge eater and any kind of counting calories or dieting would just trigger it.

But for the last few years I've kind of gotten over it--I'm afraid what I traded it in for is a slow metabolism.... before, even though I'm heavy I used to always lose weight easily-- I just couldn't stay on any kind of plan for more than a few days.

Now, I'm finding it WAY easier to stay on the plan-- but the flip side is that it doesn't seem to be working.

Aaarrggh.

For now, I'm hanging tough (and telling myself that it's probably my scale that's broken. LOL)

Yes this whole thing can be quite frustrating at times. No instant gratifacation going on, that's for sure. But it is so incredibly, INCREDIBLY worth it. So please hang tough and you WILL be rewarded with a slimmer and healthier you.

And if you say what you're doing is not working, you always have the option of changing things up a bit. Good luck and know that we are here for you.

Hey! You came to the right place for support. I wonder, though, if maybe your plan isn't working for you. It may be just that patience is required, as other posters have suggested. However, neither the scale nor your measurements have been friendly to you. One of the keys to weight loss that I've discovered is never giving up, and congratulations to you for not doing that! But - I also think another key is the willingness to make adjustments when things aren't working. I don't know whether it's time to do that or not, but it's something that you might want to keep in mind.

Glad you're hanging tough. It's rough when you work and work and work, but nothing seems to help. So far I've been a slow loser, so it's nice to have boards like this where I can find support. Also a lot of people have lost a LOT of weight and it motivates me to keep trying.

I know exactly how you feel!! I got on the scale on Sat and I was down to 204, but then when I got on it this morning it read 208!! I wanted to throw the scale out the window but as many have said before me its most likely water weight, so I counted to 10 and went on my marry way to work. Believe me if your doing the work eventually you will see it on the scale . JUST DON'T GIVE UP!

Well, I would adjust the plan if I knew how to do it, but so far the only suggestion I've heard it to eat more calories, and intuitively that doesn't make sense to me, since I'm not feeling excessively hungry on 1200 cals.

I do think I can exercise more.

I haven't been eating processed foods with a lot of salt in them. I have been getting a lot of my calories from protein because that helps me not feel bingey... could that be the problem?

Ubergirl, dont give up....the battle isnt over yet! Do you mind sharing your plan with us and maybe providing a sample of your daily menu? What type of exercising are you doing?

For some of us, weight loss is not simply a matter of calories in vs calories out. My weight loss will stall if I eat more than 1-2 fruits a day or if I eat too many bread/oatmeal/pasta choices...even if they are whole wheat, etc. If I stick with low fat protein, healthy fats in moderation and lots of fresh veggies ....and limit my fruit and starches, I lose weight. Also, I lose pounds and inches much more quickly when I exercise daily.

No too much protein should not be the problem. How are you doing with fiber? That's a great weightloss tool as well.

How are you tracking your calories? Are you sure that that's the amount that you're consuming? Are you measuring/weighing? Those calories have a way of sneaking up on us.

And adding in any activity at all, even a 20-30 minute brisk walk to start out with can do wonders to boost our metabolisim and our weightloss.
