Oooh what a great topic. I've had "mini-goal" clothes throughout my journey hanging on my bedroom door for motivation - usually a pair of jeans that's a size or two too small. But my ultimate goal item is the dress that I wore to my brother's wedding 13 years ago. It's a really beautiful red dress, very fitted through the waist, and I have to say, I looked good in that dress back then. I can actually get it on and zipped up (and getting to that point was very exciting), but it's still too tight to consider it as a fit at the moment.
It's also a good indicator of how much size inflation has occurred in the last decade. The dress is a size 10, but is clearly closer to a 6 in today's sizing.
I want to get a nice suit. I've never had a full suit to keep for special occasions. I want to go get fitted and have it tailored, the whole nine yards. No pun intended because it won't take nine yards of material now.
I have a pair of high heel sandals that to me are really gorgeous. They make your feet look really tiny, therefore to wear them I really got to get rid of that big bummy and heavy legs, otherwise there would be too much of contrast between tiny little feet and the rest of me
Talking about heavy legs......I have observed something funny....whenever I am a good girl (stay on plan, dont overeat, drink plenty of water, excercise) at the end of the day my legs (feet and ankles particularly) are looking "light" and quite thin. But whenever I go off plan, whenever I eat too much - my legs are responding to that by looking somehow bigger, toes are swolled, veins are coming out and generally getting that "feeling heavy" inpression. Have anybody experienced that too?
I think having those "light" legs always, is a motivation big enough to stay on plan and therefore be able to wear those sandals I mentioned before
I have boxes in the closet, sorted by size that I would love to get into. Get to the point where the only clothes I own are the ones that fit me well.
In particular there is a long, black, slinky dress that I wore on DH & I's first date - don't know that my breasts will ever allow me to go braless (much needed with this dress) again but for it just to fit would be wonderful.
Otherwise, I would love to be able to wear a 2 piece bathingsuit & look awesome!!!
I saw a lady last night in a shirt that was low enough in front to show her collarbones (but not too much cleavage) and low enough in the back to show her shoulder blades. I so want one of these to wear. When I find it, I'm buying it.
I have a pair of size 16 khaki shorts in my goal clothes. They are from high school. I have no doubt that they are equivelant to a size 14 or maybe a 12 by today's standards. I wore them when I lost weight before (and they were loose) and at that point in time I was wearing a 14 (with some 12's thrown in). Even that was 7 years ago, so I imagine that with vanity sizing they would have a different size tag today then from high school.
Ok, so now I have a new goal clothing item. I'm going to NYC in August for a birthday party for one of my college roomates. A group of the college gang is all going, and it should be a fun weekend all the way around. So....I bought myself a dress today to wear to the party - it's definitely in the category of "little black dress". It doesn't really fit now (I can get it on, but have to hold my breath to zip it), but it will by August!
I would love love love to wear a two piece bathing suit to the beach. Also any kind of sexy strappy heels (my feet are too wide right now) would be lovely. My major goal is to be able to wear a slim fitting, long flowing dress to the USMC Ball with husband and have people go, "Oooo."
Wiosna, you're right about your feet swelling up. Usually when you consume a lot of sodium (salt), you're body retains water and swells a bit. Hence the feet. Also if you do a lot of sitting one day whereas you normally don't, you'll swell up again because your blood flow's being restricted (think long airplane rides).
My current goal outfit is a really sexy Halloween costume. For years I haven't been able to buy a sexy costume because they just don't make them (and even if they did, I wouldn't feel sexy cause I always just felt fat). I'm finally almost there, and by Halloween, I think I'll be able to get something low cut and really sexy.
Also for Halloween, I'm hoping to get and wear a bikini for the first time. This may seem like an odd hope, but the people who host the party have a hot tub that we always end up in, and I'm hoping that by October I'll feel good being almost naked in front of others
