I'm tall, 5'11", 216 lbs and wear an 18. I started out at 269, wearing a size 24, the 18 to 16 jump is taking a seemingly LONG time, but when I stop and think about the different cuts in the 18 plus and 16 normal it makes more sense. Plus size clothing requires more in the hips, legs and butt, than plus size. I can get the 16's up over my butt and thighs, since I'm hipless, buttless and thighless, all of my weight is right in the lower belly. My top sizes are L or XL, mainly for my boobs. I like my tops a bit loose on the chest area though. I have found Target carries a brand of T for men, Cherokee, that is a bit more flattering for me than womens T's. Its looser in the chest and with more of an A line through waist and hips. VERY flattering. I've been down to 196 and still wearing a size 18, but they were SO baggy everywhere but the belly I switched to wearing dance/tap/yoga pants for a more flattering fit.
Angi, have you tried 18 misses? One of my problem is I have short legs but a regular rise so I'm trying to fit into 18 misses petites. I currently have 2 pairs that fit but are a bit tight. My plus size 18 petite pants fit fine though.

I have tried misses. I find they ride to high in the waist and to short in the leg. I have a 36" inseam, and generally like my pants a bit longer so I can wear my favorite shoes< I love anything with a heel!!> Also, I find that the waist to crotch<what a horrible word> ratio tends to be a bit long for me, I wind up with the MC Hammer pants thing going on.
I have no idea, I just know I hate buying womens jeans. I tend to stick with mens, they fit my lack`o`booty`hips&legs SO much better than womens. Even when I was thinner I shopped for jeans in the mens dept.
Do you have issues with rise in pants? Almost all the pants I find sit WAY past my belly button - not always a good look.
My mother calls that old lady pants! Yes, I have a problem finding pants that are medium rise or low rise and don't look ridiculous. My mother loves Levi's brand because they have stretch. Might work for you, but not me yet.
I'm at 190 and snugly in size 14, LOL. I started at 226 in tight 18s. It took forever to drop from 18 to 16, but not long to go from 16 to 14. It's weird, the way our bodies lose so differently.
I'm a pear, so my top is women's L or XL. I could probably wear a men's M t-shirt at this point, but it would be too tight in the hips.
I am only 5'1" and small boned. Even though I am overweight, I still wear a ring size 5.5. I have a natural propensity to build muscle and am very pear shaped. I weigh 222 today and would probably wear a size 22 pants. I have been buying my jeans from Fashion Bug lately because they have plus size pants in petite lengths and they have different shapes. I wear the Right Size Red in a 4Short. I haven't tried on a "normal" pair of jeans in a while because it's really hard to find petite plus sizes that aren't elastic waist. When I first gained the weight, my body proportion held onto the pear, but as I have now spent 8 years overweight my upper body carries more fat than it used to. At 190lbs 5 years ago, I could wear a size L shirt. Now, I need the XL or a XXL depending on the style. I wear long shirts and camis under my shirts to add length and keep the shirt from clinging to my excess back and upper stomach fat. I have to pick styles of shirts that will go over my hips. I wear a lot of solid color knit shirts with some sort of design near the neckline. Along a similar line, has anyone else had thier shoe size go up (or down for you losers!)? I wear a 9 extra wide now and I used to wear an 8.5 just plain wide. Being so short, I always hated having big feet! I hope they go back to where they were when I get to goal.
I think this thread shows that we really shouldn't focus on what size our clothes are. It's obvious that we all have different body types and builds and size doesn't really measure much. I know women who are very tall that wear a size 10 and look painfully thin. I have worn a 2 and still had a little tummy pooch. It is interesting to see how we are all different!
I am a newbie but I thought I would answer anyway :-)
I weigh 238 am 5'2 and I wear fluctuate between a 20 and a 22 depending on the day. My goal is to fit into a single digit. I have been a 14 since I was about 12. I am very bottom heavy with a "big ole butt"...
